"[S] Cascade" - Homestuck EoA 5 

I love the symbolism when Spades shoots Snowman. The bullet looks exactly like a cue ball, and Snowman is made to be the 8 ball. When the cue ball hits the last ball (8 ball) in the right spot (the heart), it goes into the hole and the game (the trolls universe) ends.

I find it funny how the beta kids didn't even try to stop the reckoning. They just kinda worked around it.

I feel like many people don't realize just how big of a threat Jack really is because he is constantly overshadowed by English. Not only does Jack possess the powers of a First Guardian(One that showed he could easily destroy an enormous asteroid[and simultaneously wipe out the entire human race]), he also has the Miles which can TRAVEL THROUGH ALL OF REALITY. I know Jack has been...tied up with things(Namely a pissed PM), and can't attack Jade, but if English didn't exist, Jack would be an unbeatable boss, as Karkat said.

Remember when Homestuck was just about a kid in his bedroom?

I have just watched [S] Cascade for the first time, and wow. I thought Homestuck would be a silly webcomic about kids playing games in their bedroom. I was wrong. Shit.

There is legitimately no feeling quite like watching cascade for the first time on the site and seeing the animation suddenly EXPAND

Thumbs up if you didn't notice it when you first read it, but now you think its super sweet sollux is wearing fefs goggles.

I remember last week, I was tasked with reading Homestuck so I could catch up with my friends. I laughed, I cried, and it was just plain awesome. They were all telling me about cascade, and how it was so awesome and how it would change everything, and one of my friends told me to film my reaction. I was on page 4000-something, so I was a ways away. But I kept reading, and yesterday, I arrived on page 6008. I saw the command [s] Cascade, and I swear my heart rate tripled. This changed Homestuck forever...

The worst part about Homestuck being a genius masterpiece is how stupid it is, and how much I don't care about the stupidity and love it anyway.

I don't care what anyone says. This is artsy as fuck. The only people that ruined Homestuck was it's own fanbase.

You know what I’ve always found incredible? That moment when PM comes hunting down Jack, and passes through the station with the ring on, and Jack just turns around. You can see in Jack’s eyes when he spots her, he’s _terrified._ PM, now overflowing with rage because her friends just died, now has nearly limitless power, and she will never ever stop until she hunts him down. He may be the Archagent of Derse, but even he couldn’t plan for this.

I can't believe it's 2020 and [s] Cascade still manages to make me emotional watching this... the homestuck never really leaves you, does it.

After having just finished Homestuck, I just want to say that Cascade is one of my favorite flash animations.

Happy 4/13 lads No matter how crap act 7 and the epilogue were, and no matter how long the next Act of Hiveswap gets delayed, we'll always have our memories

Man... I miss homestuck

Start The Beat Mesa spins like a CD before stopping, and becoming more detailed. A Kernelsprite-like shape moves slowly across, leaving a yellow trail in its wake. The view zooms out, showing the entirety of the Land of Heat and Clockwork, before showing John standing on the Beat Mesa, guiding the needle that is scratching the surface. A massive number of enemies look on, presumably in an attempt to stop him, including many types not previously seen and much larger than previous ones. John destroys many of them using tornadoes of lava, then destroying a particularly large one with his Pop-A-Matic Vrillyhoo Hammer with great ease. Part 1 The view switches to the tower on the Land of Frost and Frogs. Bec Noir looks with sadness at Jade's recently slain body, before the view switches again to show him standing in front of Bilious Slick. He begins the Red Miles, summoning tendrils of red energy, and hurling it at Bilious Slick, causing the attack to ravage the kids' universe, before it extends into Bilious' right eye and from there to the Exiles on Earth. Part 2 The AR controls a device he is holding, a trigger for the bombs rigged to all four structures. Deep in the ruins, the White Queen waits for the Time Capsule to open again, which releases the White King, holding one of Rose's books (Complacency of the Learned). A new rotten flower immediately sprouts, to open in exactly ten seconds. Meanwhile on LOFAF, Noir extends two tentacles from his sides, taking hold of Jade. He flies her to her Quest Bed, placing her on it before teleporting away. He reappears on the meteor in the Veil that holds the ruins-to-be, placing himself in the time capsule. 413,000,000 years later, as the Red Miles rage, the flower - noticeably dead-looking - opens and releases him. He kills both the WK and the WQ in turn, before teleporting outside. He advances towards the PM, but AR detonates the Bec-Head base and catches his attention. He detonates the Eggy-Looking Base and Helipod Base, but hesitates at destroying the final base with WV inside it. Noir decapitates the AR and avoids the PM, who leaps at him with a Regisword, by teleporting into the last base. Seeing that the base has no power, he proceeds to tear the Uranium out of the WV's stomach. He places it in the machine, powering it. Any time Jack is depicted after taking the Uranium, his right hand is red with WV's blood. After powering the machine, Jack goes to Room 3, which is apparently capable of teleporting characters or objects to the endgame door in either the kids' or the trolls' Incipisphere. With this, he gets on the Deappearifier and teleports away to the trolls' session. The events directly following his appearance in the trolls' Incipisphere are shown in fast-motion, up to Aradia and Sollux next to the Green Sun. Part 3 Behind them flies Derse's Moon of the Kids' Incipisphere, with Rose, Dave, Liv Tyler and The Tumor inside it. In addition, there is the decapitated form of DD. Rose, Liv and Dave enter the moon's core and take their places on their respective stone slabs, which appear very similar to the quest beds found on the planets (these slabs are later found out to be called Sacrificial Slabs). Rose deploys the Tumor, which quickly sheds its outer shell in an oily and smooth motion, to reveal a device reminiscent of the Ectobiology equipment, with two large tubes containing a red and blue fluid respectively, as well as a control console. As the timer counts down, the view zooms in on the red tube, showing the Kids' universe, complete with Red Miles, and zooming in to Earth; then the blue tube zooms in to Alternia, or rather, its green moon. Atop the castle stand Spades Slick and Snowman, at a standoff; Snowman challenges Slick to fire his gun, and he obliges her, shooting her directly through the heart with a glowing green bullet remiscient of a cue ball, shot from the gun that Doc Scratch gave him. Her heart is shown to have the trolls' universe contained within it, and it zooms in to show galaxies beginning to explode. Focusing on Alternia, we see Snowman lying dead on the ground in a puddle of her blue blood, before the view zooms back out to the bomb equipment again. It is worth noting that her blood, being blue, is representative of the trolls' universe. The screen then zooms out as the timer crosses 4:13. In turn, the view changes back to LOFAF, specifically Jade on her Quest Bed. She is seen on the Exiles' monitor, going dark, and then we see PM looking at the wounded WV in dismay and panic. Part 4 Back on the LOFAF, hummingbirds flock to Jade's corpse, while meteors from The Reckoning finally hit The Battlefield. Jadesprite and Davesprite stare at an enormous meteor. Just seconds before impact, Jade finishes Ascending, becoming a god tier fusion of Jade, Jadesprite and Bec. Casually holding up her hand, she shrinks the meteor to the size of a baseball using her newfound Witch of Space powers, floating it above her hand while Davesprite looks on in amazement. She picks up a Prospitian ship, getting on board before shrinking The Battlefield to baseball-size, leaving it to orbit her. Part 5 Jade takes the ship to the LOFAF, while John waits on the fully scratched Beat Mesa as it begins flying upwards out of the LOHAC. PM takes the body of WV outside the base and then picks up the White Queen's Ring. Jade brings John to the ship, then scales her planet and LOHAC. LOLAR and LOWAS quickly follow, while PM hesitantly places the Ring on her finger. As The Tumor's timer counts down, the Beat Mesa begins to fly into Skaia while Jade summons the captchalogued Fourth Wall, slowly increasing its size while it shows the kids' adventure so far, backwards. This may represent their universe being reset. When it reaches Gamzee watching the miracle of a new beginning, it stops, and the viewpoint changes to him, with Cal in his lap. On his computer, he's talking to Doc Scratch, asking him what he thinks "we" (the trolls, and possibly the kids) are. He highlights a single line of Scratch's text with the reply: S u c k e r s . Part 6 The Bomb's countdown reaches 0:00, both universes detonating and killing Dave and Rose. Doc Scratch has fooled everyone: instead of destroying the Green Sun, as was expected, the explosion is what created the Green Sun in the first place. Jack watches the Green Sun coming into existence from afar, while Aradia and Sollux watch it (far in its future) from much closer. Switching to the remnants of the trolls, Terezi attempts to point Sollux in the direction of the bright light in the sky, Karkat kindly pointing her closer to the right direction. Using an incredible amount of psychic power, Sollux hurls their meteor sanctuary towards it, even as blood begins to pour from his eyes and mouth from the strain, much like the overexertion of his ancestor. Suddenly, on the very platform where Noir gained entry to the trolls' universe, the PM materializes with the dying WV in tow, in fully-prototyped form, with Jack looking on in fear/redrom. Part 7 Dave and Rose rise out of the newly-created Green Sun, glowing brilliantly. As the glow fades away and the flickers of flame leave them, it becomes clear that they have in fact Ascended, and the two see Aradia and Sollux face-to-face for the first time. Having finally made the Fourth Wall big enough to fly through, Jade hurls the ship through it, successfully escaping the scratch. It continues to display images from the story (playing in reverse) for a few seconds before cutting out on the first comic from the archives, and tattered curtains close on it ending the Flash.

I can't believe I haven't watched this in almost a decade and I still got sad when the Mayor was killed

God like years and years later in 2022 and this is still an incredible piece of music and such an epic animation.

I still watch this several times a year. An absolute masterpiece.

...Huh. I've never really bothered with Homestuck before, so I have no idea what just happened...but, dare I say it, it did seem kinda neat. If I _were_ to attempt to get into this big, complicated thing, where exactly would one start?

This was absolutely insane when it first came out. The nostalgia almost makes me want to cry!

Watching everyone praise the animations and me being like, "lmao what is happening its too fast."

Dear god, that moment with the Red Miles. For context, until this point the entire comic had always been a fixed screen size. When it zoomed out and filled the screen, it was like that moment from Wizard of Oz as it turns from a sepia-tinted black and white to full Technicolor, but instead of gentle child-like wonder, you had this insane boss-battle "oh shit" moment as Jack shows how he can destroy entire universes if he reaches them.

Ironically, while Bec prototyping himself ended up with Bro's death and Jack's power being extremely potent, he gave him his one weakness: Love. Love was what caused him to carry the now-dead Jade, one of the kids he wanted to kill from the start, and carry her to her quest bed to be revived in god-tier. Love was what caused Jade to come back to life and lead to everyone escaping to the post-scratch world. Love was what caused Jack to, ironically, save each of the kids he set out to kill. Good dog. Best friend.

[S]:Collide was nice, but I think the reason it doesn't beat this is because there weren't really any surprises. As far as we can tell, everything went exactly as expected, whereas literally every moment in Cascade is mindblowing plot-wise.

I am SO thankful for the unofficial homestuck collection. I'm on my first read and seeing this as a youtube embed would NOT have been the same.

The psiioniics fastest speed was thousands of light years in a matter of hours right?. Well the green sun is the size of two universes and in the space between the green sun and where the meteor was there was space for about 10 green suns which means sollux propelled them about 20 universes in a few minutes outdoing his ancestor by a factor of over 100 trillion

rest in peace AimlessRenegade, one of the most forgotten homestuck characters.

One of the things I love about this flash is the way in which it sums up the perfect interplay of the relationship between the music and storyline. Homestuck is one of the first works to really take advantage of the medium which is the internet and combine so many different forms of storytelling (text, images, sound, video, interactive panels and minigames), and similarly the music here is one of the first I've come across that so elegantly combines highly divergent styles of music and the instruments involved while still giving each group their own highlights and prominent passages. Seriously, I've worked out that if, as I honestly think there should one day based on the quality of the music alone, there was ever to be a Homestuck Prom, the Royal Albert Hall would require a full concert orchestra, two pianists (and possibly two pianos), two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, a high quality soprano and a full choir just to do this song! And they're all interwoven and spread out throughout the piece!

I love how Jade immediately knew how to use her powers, she's like.. instantly powerful at the start of her rising to god tier. I think there's only one or two characters that can match up to her in power.

Can we just talk about how darkly hilarious it is that Hussie brought the "edible uranium" gag and made it plot-relevant? I don't care if the rest of Homestuck is 100x more clever. This is just too cool.

This feels like something from a world that doesn't exist anymore

I have always heard about homestuck, back in 2011-2014. You couldn't go anywhere on the internet without hearing or seeing something about it. It was chaotic. I never read it because i was under the mentality that popular + crazy fandom meant the WHOLE THING was bad. Until about 2 weeks ago. I started reading this thing. And despite all the homestuck's controversies, the most incredible thing is that the base material is genuinely enjoyable and worth reading. Its insane how fun it is to read this. Andre Hussie is like the Hideo Kojima of fucking comic writers. it's insane how good this is. I love it. Im only about half-way through (4.8k/8.1k), and i am still so pumped to read more everytime I'm so sad that I am late to the party, i wish i read it sooner. Also, THIS FUCKING CUTSCENE. THIS. CUTSCENE. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. SO GOOOOOD. Hats off to Hussie, he made a CLASSIC.

Okay but the beauty of the characters escaping the old session by literally going through the fourth wall is incredible

I'm not like a fandom, tumblr, big weeb, furry, or nerdy kind of person, but honestly Homestuck was a masterpiece, it's actually very well written and 10k+ pages that take months to read don't feel long at all, they feel like an experience, a really good one. How the story introduces characters makes you have them feelies, even with the antagonists. Masterpiece

This cinematic is the embodiment of "shit is going down like you can't even imagine, and that's really all there is to say on the matter".
