The S class always incorporates the best and the latest tech from Mercedes, and shows us what all cars will be like a decade later. In this video, we drive and talk about what we think is the best modern S Class - the W221. We are driving the most desirable version of the car to buy used today, the S500 Biturbo.

I helped a close friend fix up issues in his W220 S class. I've never seen a more complicated climate control system (I suppose newer S classes up the ante every generation - best car in the world). The number of sensors and actuators is simply mind boggling. This car in 2002, monitored the sun levels at every seat, seat occupancy, temperature at the seat location and a lot more. If you go into the climate control diagnostic interface within the car, there are more than 120 parameters you can see. Just for the climate control! The 220 is a technology tour de force that I feel is not appreciated enough. But it makes fixing these things really difficult too.

What is the issue in CC system? Can I know please.. I am Drving w220 s320 2000 model past 3 years m112 engine it is best DIY car Main problm of this machine is aromatic just change to coil it is life time fix. And engine oil leak change valve cover gasket and breathing valve gasket cost 50aed in india around 1000🤷‍♂️ no need mechanic anyone can fix it .tats all and parts also very cheap

@@AdeemVlogz , a temperature sensor inside the cooling coil that is under the center armrest was broken. It would short out and the climate control system would shut off the compressor and there wouldn't cooling any more. A new sensor from MB or from FCPEuro was very expensive. I used the information from the service manual to find a NTC resistor of the same response curve as the sensor. I then cracked open the sensor and replaced the resistor inside. Redid the soldering, glued it back together and the issue is fixed. The biggest problem was taking apart the center console to reach the sensor. The actual resistor I replaced was less than 10 rupees. A new sensor is close to USD 70. Close to 20k from the dealer in India. I don't agree with airmatic deletion. Just buy the W211 E280 CDI if you want a V6 with coil springs. Why buy an S class and delete its marquee feature?

@@ZWingPK yes Brtr I am planing to buy w212😊. Why I changed to coil spring the main problm is can’t drive as you want . The MB Mechanic said Don’t take sharp turn Don’t make sudden break Don’t go on ruff road Only 4 people can travel etc Always this airmatic making problems for me so that guy said me to change to coil. I think w220 have older technology of air suspention.I also fan of air suspention but what to do I changed almost 14 times because of leaking and it cost 250 aed labor 100 aed but no confident to drive always beware of warning 😁. But i love to drive w220 Can I know where you working?

Excellent post! I was once a victim of the W220. Had a S320L (V6-3.7 petrol) for about five years. While mechanically it was a great machine, it’s sophistication, like for instance the OFC connecting the head unit-amplifier-cd changer & speakers and the ‘biodegradable’ wiring were all issues that our mechanic, an Ausi engineer turned workshop owner helped me dealing with. I lost it when it started rusting (dry zone, hence not environment) along the wheel arches and around the sunroof. I also had to replace the rear air suspension (under guarantee) which at the time was priced around ₹80k a piece. I sold the car for a value just 20% of its purchase price after 5 years and about 40-42k kms. It was by then called the “luxury rust bucket” in forums that I followed.

My favorite s class is 222 preface 350 cdi. Eventhough airmatic struts in 222 is reliable but need to be changed for strut noise if not ridden wisely. You missed airmatic valve body which gets damaged when airmatic strut leaked and ridden for long
