S.H. Figuarts FRIEZA Third Form Dragon Ball Z Action Figure Review 

They downsized him for the Broly movie, which showed a height lineup between Frieza's forms. In DBZ, Second Form Frieza grew when he transformed into Third Form. I wish this figure was a bit taller.

I remember him being the same height as his 2nd form but hunched over.

They retconned his height is the thing, hes clearly taller in the Namek saga but in the Broly movie they show an image where he's this size. I wasnt interested in this Frieza form anyway but this new height and sizing just looks silly, like genuinely quite funny, he looks like wide Putin. It takes away the intimidation factor of him

According to DBZ he should be waaaay bigger, even bigger than the second form, but in DB Super they make him a lot shorter so I guess they're using that height as a reference.

Just got him and i agree. He does seem pretty small. Honestly they couldve given him slightly thicker and longer legs and it wouldve worked better, still love this figure. Scale is usually pretty good with this line considering how inconsistent the scaling is in the show but the super buu was also way too big, feels as tho he fits in way better with the dragonball line.

He should be taller but as others said they shrunk in the Broly movie and for some reason that stuck. I agree on pre-posed tails like the final form Frieza almost did, or if it isn't so expensive, the ball pegs tails the monsterarts Godzillas have. Glad to see Tamashii delivered, with more rampant QC issues, and the nature of 3rd form Frieza's design I was skeptical but now definitely content getting him.

Yea his 3rd form always seemed waaay taller than his other forms. This was like his hulked out form gigantic and more muscular than his other ones. Those small legs look like they wouldn't be able to support him irl

I love the tail and how you can pose them. It gets in the way at times but it makes up for the pose ability

I didn't get to preorder this figure so it's great to know it's actually good! I agree that Second Form Freeza and Cooler have the best implementation of shoulder pads. I'll never understand why they haven't updated them like the sleeves on the goku figures

He definitely looks small, but we're talking about a version of the character that existed for an episode, I think? Maybe parts of 2? I have to believe that Bandai has access to the official height charts and turn-arounds used by TOEI, but it's also possible they made him bigger in the anime and that Toriyama intended for him to be smaller. I think when that Frost guy transforms in Super into his third form he's not that big, but I could be mistaken. That may have been the opportunity for Toryama to sort of set the record straight on how big the third form is. It's nice to see that the Vietnam factory is getting better. I didn't get this one because I just don't care about Frieza's third form, but they look have done a pretty good job.

It seems like someone at Tamashii Nations likes the Frieza family since the all the Frieza's + Cooler have been pretty solid releases so far. Great review Anthony 👍

He's too short. The size of hips down to his feet are too short. It's like the lower part of the body is Frieza's first form.

I was so waiting for the tail verdict. Personally I like articulated tails. It's just the first bend near the butt is huggly. Should angle down not straight. Loved your "oh oh" moment on the tail part anyway. Keep it going. Thanks for the nice review.

I was 100% going to get this until I saw the height. This is my second favorite Freeza form. He should be bigger than 2nd form but the lineup in the Broly movie is what they likely based this on. I hated that they made this form look so much smaller in that. I was tempted to get this and a 2nd for and kitbash it to be the right proportions but then I decided not to get either

I think he's about the right size he's bigger than 1st form and from what I remember it was a slight grow up, but not as much a 3rd form 🤷🏾‍♂️.

All the pictures of third form Frieza I've checked, say he is taller than his second form. His head is the same size as the horns in his second form.

It is accurate to current day Dragon Ball, because Super downsized him. There’s an official scaling that they released recently and they changed it to make him much smaller, so Tamashii is correct because Toei messed it up.

I ended up passing on this because I wanted the original sizing and not the retcon. Did save me some money cause i also ended up skipping 2nd form as well because of this.

Im here to see if the figure is worth the cost, great review for this one.

Well I'm not really sure on his height. Freiza's 3rd form is always hunched over with bent knees. And he still is around Piccolo's height. It was a scary transformation that's for sure.

If the legs were actually properly sized, he would be taller. But instead of keeping the right proportions but making the whole thing smaller, they made the incompressible decision to only shrink his legs. He looks ridiculous.

He should have the proportions of his 2nd form, here, with his huge upper body and tiny legs, he looks like when first form Frieza starts transforming to his second form

He's way to small and there's no excuse that they made him smaller this is part of the DBZ line not the DBS so he shouldn't be so tiny and the flat purple is much better than the metallic it's far closer to how it looked in the anime and manga.

The size thing is a bit iffy. The Z anime and manga never gave us a straight up answer, but it did indicate that he was taller than he is here, maybe as big as 2nd form (just hunched over), but the Broly movie retconned it and made it so he's a lot smaller than 2nd form. Personally? I see the appeal in both. The latter for offering a range between forms, rather than 1st and 4th being the same size and 2nd and 3rd being the same size. I also kind of like the idea of a manic ki blast-slinger like 3rd form Frieza not being as physically imposing as the hulking beatdown brute that is 2nd form Frieza (or Final Form Cooler). At the same time, a massive, intimidating 3rd form Frieza that is as big or bigger than 2nd form, looming over people, is also cool, so I'm in the middle. I definitely agree with your assessment of the shoulderpad engineering here, but I have to add my own opinion in that I don't like it as much on 2nd form. For the 2nd form figure, I wish the shoulderpad had been attached to the actual arm, not the chest, because it's meant to deform with the movement of the arm, which it currently doesn't if you're moving his arms forward. For 3rd form, it's fine, though, since it's detached from his actual extremities and functions more like, as you mentioned, a saiyan shoulderpad. All of this to say: I like this engineering for 3rd form and Saiyan armor, but not so much for 2nd form. I think the blast effect is cool, but I do wish we had gotten two of them. He's often seen charging two up in short order as he goes for the beam spam, so I feel it's a bit cheap to only pack in a single one. The tail-thing I can take or leave, but I definitely wish we'd get a 2.0 4th/Final Form Frieza with some pre-posed tails. One that is neutral, one that curls and one that arcs for a direct swing/whip. Something like that. I think this figure is definitely better than people expected, if you're willing to overlook the height thing/aren't as much as a stickler for that, and it's gonna be good to see all the forms standing together... except final form, which feels outdated to me by now.

For tails, I'd rather they do the option parts or full on monsterarts tails. Because I agree, this way of doing it is ugly as shit.

This looks like a bobble head, looks like he has 1 leg day a week… They downsized him immensely 😂 For the money sh has been making they could afford to begin deluxe size figures. Or simply bigger packaging for figures that would need to be bigger.

He should be taller and bulkier. This was one of their most pathetic releases to date (in terms of faithfulness to dbz). He is pretty much the same size as form 2, or larger in form 3. He is hunched over though. The scale is just way, way off unfortunately. Despite this being a good figure mechanically, it completely ruins the line up of frieza transformations. They knew what they were doing by going with the severely diminished form 3 from the broly movie. They dont care.

Figuarts nails it sometimes yes but they also fail miserably other times. I have yet to see a decent Vegeta from Figuarts. And some of their figures fall apart way too easily. Dragon stars will probably make a better 3rd form Frieza.
