In all seriousness I'm not too bummed out aside from the obnoxious price. The paint isn't horrific on mine and if I decide I don't like it on hand it shouldn't be too hard to repaint considering he's mostly dry brushed
@@red6309 the problem is that in Japan, they do only cost 50-60 dollars, but like Psychronize said, inflation and shipping from Japan (even if you order the figure from Japan and have it shipped) is crazy expensive. The same goes for retailers who have these brought into warehouses before being shipped to buyers. The problem is all in shipping, it inflates the price so much that it’s crazy.
I hate and love that I canceled my pre-order of this figure. I hate it because I loved the movie, I love that I did because my small paycheck deserves to be spent on something else.
Likewise, reluctant pre-order cancel here. I paint miniatures, but one thing I am notoriously poor at is eyes. So teeth and other quality control stuff regarding paint, I’m ok with fixing since I can cover it up. But the eyes? Well, if I get a figure with the eyes printed off the eye sculpt…that’s not something I can fix with any confidence. Not saying it’s our job to fix things. That should be manufacturer and quality control. However, I sometimes look the other way if the figure has a great sculpt and articulation since I could never sculpt or create something like this.
I'll probably cancel mine. I got the recent release of 1999 Gamera and the paint detail is way better than the original release. I'll hope they do a reissue for this down the line, but at this price I can't settle for the poor quality in paint application.
Buy the Super7 one. It's bigger, half the price, and they actively went out of their way to make it look GOOD. They literally showed it to the director of the film and said "hey, is this good enough to release?"
SHMA, between their absurd prices and total lack of QC, is a joke of a brand at this point. With Hiya knocking each of their releases out of the park, and *actually* listening to fan feedback to improve and enhance their figures, I have no doubt they’ll become the figures of choice for collectors soon enough.
SH's newer classic releases/ decisive battle re-releases have actually been pretty solid. But their modern godzilla/ monsterverse figures have been kinda sloppy aside from the first G19, and the poster version. I sold off most of my SH monsterverse figures to replace them with the Hiya ones.
Has hiya made anything Godzilla other than monsterverse? Their stuff looks insanely good for a good price, but I can’t find much, and I’m wondering if that’s just cuz they haven’t put much out yet.
If I remember correctly, they did. At least for all previous toho Godzillas, and considering Super7 is working in a Minusgoji, it would surprise me if Hiya isn't working on it as welll
@@scrubbernut8888 Every single review and figure is "absolutelyy fantastic" Goji has qc issues crossed eyes paint apps like they used feet and is falling apart DiegoDoom states "THIS FIGURE IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC " ??!??? 💀💀⚰️⚰️
@@apexatrovinator7510 How is he even a "figure reviewer" at this point ? In order to do that you need to be a bit more objective and list minuses and pluses and help the consumer decide, if you glaze and shill everything its just not good...and it also doesnt help consumers if he constantly repeats the same words and phrases. He isnt objective and doesnt state what is fantastic and why, why is everything fantastic ?? Give an example,go into details and explain bro..even if there is a flaw he will make it sound fantastic. I unsubbed to him and subbed to more honest figure reviewers.
140 for this is too much, even without the paint and quality issues. If it weren't riddled with aesthetic problems, 90 would be a good selling point. Sold as it is with the problems, 70~80 tops. 140 is a big ask for a figure that looks like it was dropped in mud. The sculpt is really nice though, I can see a repaint doing well, or if you're so inclined to do so, custom painting would be a cool project to make it look extra nice.
And they dont even have an atomic breath piece, you think with all the money they saved by never making an atomic breath they can get better quality control
@@Fentlover1minus one wouldn’t work with an atomic breath piece unless it has blue dorsal fins. With an atomic breath so unique it wouldn’t exactly work without blue fins
I'm hoping Hiya announces a MunisGoji release. I might cancel my SHMA order then. Thankfully BBTS is really good about returns for known quality issues.
This is the year of Godzilla. Toho and Monster Arts got greedy because they understood that new Godzilla fans would want this and don’t care about imperfections like collectors do. Charging so much because the figure sculpt was supervised as an excuse? Well they certainly Failed didn’t they with quality control.
140 bucks for this is batshit insane! I would rather skip or have a better deal than pay that price for a heavily flaud figure. And consider Hiya is in the game, I'd rather pick that, or maybe Super7, who knows.
I'm glad not preordering this one now 😂 I hope hiya will make one, i know that super7 is making this one, but i could only expect how it'll turn out seeing their previous figures.
Like the guy above said. Neca started to get worse with heisei goji 1994 & 1995, especially with the g19. The eyes are too goofy. And for some reason, G14 has yellow eyes?
@@schmeatmcmeat1587 They weren’t highly detailed though. They just kinda seemed lack luster. Especially for quality control. Hiya seems to have found the sweet spot for Godzilla figures. I’m really excited to see their Heisei Era stuff they’re going to put out
I literally said the same thing back when hiya release the atomic blast Godzilla figure and SHMA released some crappy night version of Godzilla because we definitely needed another 2019 monsterarts Godzilla figure. Hiya and super7(if they decide to go a bit more balls to the walls with their figures and not play it too safe) has the potential to surpass SHMA
It really feels like Bandai/Tamashii is really slipping on their godzilla line of SHMA figures. Especially after seeing the Blue-Eyes ans Red-Eyes dragons. It's so weird that more care and effort seems to go into their nongodzila shma lines. And don't get me started on 2019 Ghidorah. I was so disappointed that the wings had so little articulation. Then theu revealed shma Rathalos with 2 sets of semi-poseable wings and I was like "why didn't they do this with 2019 Ghidorah?" And Then Hiya Ghidorah just kinda killed shama Ghidorah
Thanks for this review. I think I’ll cross my fingers and wait for Hiya. Given the critical and fan reception to GMO I can only assume that if they can make this version of Godzilla, they will and may even try to fast track it.
And hiya actually knows where to put the eyes, lol. They actually listen to fan service! I got into goji collecting, and i refuse to get any SHMA. I'll stick with hiya.
Movie was amazing can't wait 2 c it again but this bad boy costing $140 is very painful. I can't wait 2 c what the others look like especially Hiya. And hopefully u r able 2 get a Ghidorah from Hiya really wanna c that guy n action! That fact that the wings r able 2 move is just awesome 2 me
Yeah, I think I'll wait to see how the Super7 release turns out or wait for Hiya to make one. I make a decent amount of money, but even I know $140 is way too much for an SH Monsterarts with no accessories and a lotto on whether or not you'll get a decent paint job. This release just feels really insulting.
I would love it if they did a Ginza attack variant with a retooled sculpt and hopefully better paint app they usually give the revamp figure to the atomic breath version which sucks but I hope we get a battle damaged one or another base one if shin can get like 100 variants so can minusgoji
Thanks for the review. The paint job of S.H. figures have always left me wanting and I often find myself fixing it, especially the teeth. You'll have to splurge to get the better non-poseable Ichiban Kuji version (I have the charging up "last one" figure) or wait for the an X-Plus sofubi whenever they decide to make one. I'm still going to get this one, just because.
The quality of this figure is absolutely unacceptable for the price. For something that cost 140 USD, this is not okay in any sense of the word. I would highly recommend people to save their money on SHMA. I am not claiming any one line is better than the other and or you should buy something else instead, I'm saying this is really bad. SHMA keeps getting worse. They are being enabled by so many people buying it so they know this okay to do because people buy it.
This just makes me sad. Not that SHMA has ever had the best quality control - I remember my Spitfire GareGoji coming apart every time I handled him slightly rough, and my GMKGoji kept decapitating himself - but man, to see MinusGoji get even worse treatment is emblematic of Bandai's indifference towards this line. Interesting how RebirthGame got such a great figure in comparison.
To everyone who’s watching especially the long time collectors please stick around for this part 17:01 he is not talking out of bias but for your best interest. There’s a lot of truth being spoken here whether you want to accept it or not. No company deserves your loyalty at the expense of your hard earned money cuz God knows they won’t repay you, especially with quality and we have seen that in 4k for years now
WTF?! I see what u mean Steve. His eye isnt even painted his actual eyeball instead like you said on his damn cheek? :O Seriously Tamashii?! This figure reeks of sad greed if you ask me. They rushed it out for a deadline before it hit US and EU theaters and my god does it show! Thiers no excuse here anymore this line has been around for 12 years now and we expect better at this point like with what Hiya is doing with thiers. Sure they arent the best at getting eyes painted neither but its thier first time with the Godzilla License so they can improve in the future. But Monsterarts has again been around for 12 and I've had it with thier terrible qualities dipping in and out lately. They get bangers like Anime Gamera and the recently released G3 Gamera too and Showa Gigan yet they keep screwing up somehow? >:C
And this is why I don't want to get SHMA figures, I can't trust their won't be quality control problems, or worse, broken I'll get the Bandai one, I would rather have less paint and articulation, over this!
CORRECTION: GHIDORAH IS NOT RELEASED IN CHINA!!! I LIVE IN CHINA AND I CHECKED EVERY FIGURE STORE IN MY AREA THAT SOLD HIYA GODZILLA PRODUCTS, IT’S NOT RELEASED YET!
Thank you for this and everyone who mentioned hiya, i didn't know about their line of figures. While i love my sh monsterarts godzilla 2002, i was shocked at the low quality and density of legendary godzilla vs kong. For the price, you get a t shaped barbell with incredibly thin plastic draped over it, i was so excited to finally get one and expected great quality for the price, but alas was very disappointed when i opened it, especially compared to the neca versions. The designs of the sh monsterarts are great, but for the price, you're practically getting an overpriced piece of paper excluding the tails, which i will say are very well done.
A lot of criticism, but for $140, I guess anyone will want to scrutinize it. Thanks for estimating the value. I appreciate the effort -doing all the fins and joints for the tail is tough even 8f it is not a total success. It would be great to see other companies jumping in to make this figure.
I think Monsterarts are being creative with those Movable spikes on Godzilla minus one and Godzilla 1972! "BUT" The situation is So.....Easy to fix for the Tamashii Figure Line! Godzilla has three rows of spikes going down his back Right well, One row of Godzilla spikes going down to the tip of his entire back and tail, All Tamashii needs to do to the very top of Godzilla movable upper spike is to Reposition that movable spikes slightly to the right or left, Depending on the lower spike just below the movable spike that isn't movable. Re, Reposition the movable spike the opposite of the non movable spike below that movable one. That way the spikes connecting together don't hit each other no matter how much Godzilla wants to rest his head on his back! Tamashii don't need to make Anything movable when it comes to movable spikes! Now for both the other rows of Godzilla spikes the same way as the middle section. Slightly move the movable spikes to the left or right and keep it that way so when Godzilla lifts his Head or neck there's NO need for any movable small spike parts. I just think Tamashii is being Lame for making this Easy situation harder then what it needed to be OMFG 🙄🙄😒 The same goes with the Sh monsterarts Godzilla 1972 and his movable spike on his back neck, apply the same thing and there you go! Godzilla can move his neck way up without hitting any spike if the movable spike just reposition the movable spike slightly to the right or left and that's it! Don't need Any Moving small pieces of crappy rolling back spikes! In the Statue Game, we want Godzilla spikes to be reposition slightly like this because it's called a Rubber Suit. Godzilla spikes are supposed to be crock it or shape weirdly like this to make the monster look more suit-like! Remember that Sh Figuarts Browser where his hair can move slightly back so his head can lean slightly up or the head of browser can move forward and the whole figure of Browser look like he broke head head on his body lol Call the News We got a hinge so browser can move his head back Slightly! Lol Naw!
I mean get what you want but I’m skipping this the paint for that price man you would think that the paint would be a little bit better for $140 us and im Australian so it’s $213 without shipping and tax so I’ll skip
Thank you for this honest review. I loved Godzilla Minus One so much, that when I saw this figure I pre-ordered this without really thinking. I'm new to the kaiju figure/toy scene, and after seeing the quality of this figure, this figure is very unimpressive for the price. I've cancelled the pre-order and will be waiting for the announcement of a Hiya figure. My money will be hopefully better spent on a better quality and better priced figure.
Scratch that. Just wanna get this one because the Super7 looks like it’s gonna be mid and the Hiya seems to be a nonexistent prospect. I’ll just get the custom head for it to help this fugly guy shine a little more.
I feel sorry for the Steven that had a glimpse of hope with this line after Rebirth (which is shit on my copy. The joints suck, paints are fine tho). This probably bring us back to reality, away from the "what the future might hold for this line if they keep this up" Rebirth gave to some (not me. Again, my copy sucks arse that I'm traumatized with the line as a whole). But, quoting DiegoDoom "ABSOLUTELY FAAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC. ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT"
That's unfortunate, you probably just got a defective gamera rebirth figure, my copy is completely fine, had a loose arm (my fault, accidentally pull it off while taking it out the box) but I fixed it with some super glue. All fine now.
I paid less than $100 imported, absolutely zero QC issues on my copy. No loose joints, paint look fantastic, and all the tampos are properly aligned. Guess I just got lucky :)
Hiya Toys knocked their Legendary Godzilla outta the park-I learned about it from a JobbyTheHong review-, and I'm under the impression that the rest of their Monsterverse lineup is gonna be as killer.
i wish neca still had the rights to godzilla. i know their figures werent the best of quality but for the price they were pretty good for me. I feel like neca would do alright with this guy but hiya definitely needs to step in
What a shame. I got back into collecting Godzilla figures because of how well the original SpaceGodzilla SHMA was crafted. Looking at the teeth of this goji reminds me of a cheaper end Mattel Jurassic world figure. And that’s not to diss Mattel but like i expect that quality from a $15-40 dinosaur toy not a “premium” SHMA line figure.
$140.00..................... are you serious. Amazing movie with (what I would call) the greatest Godzilla design ever. But this figure is $25 quality, tops.
I ended up getting the ishbano kaiju minus one godzilla even though it's not movable with articulation it's well painted and perfect to the movie sculpt.
EXCELLENT review. As someone who only started buying modern Godzilla figures with Super7's line, I am very curious what Hiya and Super7 are able to do with Minus One Goji. With that said - I have SHMA Minus One on preorder. it will be my first SHMA figure.
This is definitely Shin Godzilla all over again, although it's not that bad as Shin, but still had some issues. Gotta say, the figure is gorgeous itself, and I wished I got one because my Mom is finding a job after she lost her job a few years back
might cancel mine. though i did order mine from Amazon which has pretty good return service if I'm not satisfied with it. I only have a NECA Godzilla and a few of the Super 7 Ultimates. I love the size of the Super 7 figures but I love the detail of the much cheaper NECA stuff. 140 is insane for this.
The fact that this thing is the same price as the Dean the Deathologist animatronic from Home Depot, a six foot animated piece, is actually humiliating, especially for the poor quality and paint. And I thought the supply and demand for new animatronics was bad. Impatiently waiting for Hiya to do their magic here.
22:41 If they do choose to make one, Hiya is gonna have to make a figure of Minus One. They’re better at this anyway. I will say…I would LOVE for Hiya and/or SHMA to make a Pre-Mutated Godzilla. His body style makes him feel more of a godzillasaurus than the kaiju while still being a straight up kaiju.
Yeah fuck 140$ thats a rip off. I Bought my first S.H. in 2014 on amazon of the 2014 godzilla and I paid a whopping, 61$. Yeah more than half off what this current shit is. To this day thats the only official one I bought from them, the rest I find 3rd party in stores.
Personally I advice to not buy it, It looks good but not it has some flaws that are really noticable for example it looks kinda derpy especially at the head and the body color some parts doesn't fit, There are way better Godzilla Sh Monster arts figures that have better coloring and molding than this one this Minus One figure looks good but It's just not as good as some of the other Godzilla figures like Fw Goji, Ultima Goji and Goji 2021 I recommend buying those instead if you dont have em or if you don't want em you can look for other Sh Goji figures
