There were five four-funnelled liners from Vulcan (1897-1907); most famous of them all was the 'Kronprinz Wilhelm', and most luxurious - the 'Kronprinzessin Cecilie'. The latter remains in the shadow, as she had never won the 'Riband'.
Das Stueckchen Geschichte hatte Verbindung zu meiner Heimatstadt - durch eine bronzene Figur des Namensvorbilds, das seit September 1910 den groessten Platz des damaligen Stolps zierte.
Jamie Petroski That’s beyond wonderful, you should consider yourself extremely lucky one of your family members managed to sail aboard this glorious liner.
A wonderful video! Truly a full detailed look of the mighty flagship of the Prussian merchant fleet! Amazing detail and immense glory in a ship that was although smaller than the Titanic, was superior in design, interior and speed! In my opinion it surpasses the Olympic Class apart from the slightly tight-quartered boat decks. Amazing video on the KWdG. [P.S: Could I ask where you got those deck-plans used at about 0:27 to 0:32? Thanks!]
S.S Kaiser Wilhelm der Gross was a grand and elaborate ship for the Edwardian Era. In my opinion the Kaiser class is superior to the Olympic Class. Perhaps if they built more to the scale of Imperator Class, they could be noticed even more! I find it very admirable and proud that she managed to sink three enemy vessels before being sunk herself in WWI. Considering she was a Ocean Liner, a very good achievement. My damnation frustration goes to the British navy whom which destroyed her wreck in 1952 to avoid it's discovery by German divers, and other nations. Perhaps a smart move but a sad one. She would be in similar conditions to the wreck of HMHS Britannic, perhaps a little worse due to damage from her last-fought battle.
These liners set the standard of their day. British passenger trade threatened by them set in motion a building boom financed by British government, hence the term aux. cruisers. German ship building both civilian and military of the time were a thorn that struck deeply into British pride. Notice how after the war the Allies scooped these ships up under the guise of reparations.
First of all, the Big Billy started the four-stacked dozen, coming from greatest harbour town of Prussia. Piece of great history. Stueckchen Geschichte der Werft und des NDL, was?...
Thanks for the quick reply. A friend is building this vessel in another game, (roblox), maybe you ever heard of it, some people can build really good looking ships there, like him. Anyways, could you somehow send it to me in the original reolution? Like, upload it on imgur or so? :)
