Film Federation didn’t submit RRR out of Jealousy. But SS Rajamouli just amplified their jealousy by campaigning and winning an Oscar. This burn will not heal so soon 😂
Twitter played a huge role in RRR becoming so huge in the west. Western audience and Popular celebrities tweeting and sharing their love on twitter gave rise to this RRR phenomenon. Also surprisingly Word of mouth played a huge role for RRR in the west. RRR is probably the best movie from India in terms of technical aspects and added to that is the brilliant Storytelling and performance by Jrntr and RC. S. S. Karthikeya played an important role in understanding and taking RRR to the places it had to go. FFI snubbing RRR was terrible when RRR already had such huge Global reception but being a submission in "General category" and winning these awards internationally make RRR more special. An SS Rajamouli's film that changed Indian cinemas landscape again 🙌
In one of the first interviews BR did with Vetrimaaran on FC South, he inquired about the Oscars Campaign for Visaranai. Vetri gave the details and mentioned how difficult it is to make a mark there, and make the Oscar Voters notice the movie. Here we are, after a couple of years, BR interview the person who spearheaded the Oscars Campaign and made it successful! Feels happy to see both of the interviews with same curiosity and love cinema!❤
vetrimaran was there with the tag of official submission from India, still he couldnt pull of anything remotely successful. let alone globes and oscars they cldnt win any of the other 60 precursor awards that RRR has won. Goes on to show how difficult it is to market ur film. RRR had huge push from the local American audience and critics themselves. had it been our official submission we cld hv gotten even more nominations
During visaranai ott had not seeped into every household in the whole world. Lockdown not only made indians notice other talent from the world it also made the other parts of the globe to slowly notice talent from any part of India. So it is the effect of lockdown which made the ott to boom and thus made it little easy for us to make the Oscar people notice us. Before visaranai Lagaan Dangal and many more movies had also tried for Oscar but they could not make much impact. But now the scenario has changed. Ott has made the local Americans notice content from India and give their opinions. Some American you tube channels are even reviewing our movies now a days. So all this together with the pr promotion has made it possible for rrr to win Oscar. Not only this there are other factors also involved but I think one of the major factor is ott boom all over the world.
@@VasupradhaMagudapathy Y didnt pathan or KGF worked? it's because still the western audience can't digest narrative breaking songs. RRR had the perfect seamless blend of genres and songs were integral to story telling, they were not narrative breakers. Also the action is much better than most of the MCU films post End game.
@@VasupradhaMagudapathy lagaan was the official submission of India and lagaan campaigned for 3 months in America... And it got nomination in the best international feature movie... But not won. For dangal they didn't try as it was not official submission. It's the only RRR team who did which all people thought was impossible because RRR was not an official submission...
@@crazyfriendist exactly... These people are idiots or jealousy that I don't know. These people still think RRR is successful because of ott only. Netflix is just one of the reasons for RRR success because bahubali and other Indian films are also on Netflix but it's RRR which got popularity...
RGV explained very simply . They have a product which suddenly gets huge demand, and since western audiences themselves started #RRRforOscars . Makers made their efforts sincerely without any western production house support. All they did was show it to the maximum number of people, if they don't like it they won't like it that's all .
If the Oscar win was for a Tamil movie or a Hindi movie, there would've been 100's of interviews all across channels, but a Telugu movie winning an Oscar is somehow not being appreciated enough across all regions of India. It was majorly Telugu audience who continuously pushed RRR to western audience. Glad to see BR taking an interest in understanding the bts of the hardwork.
Dude come on … everyone knows RRR is not a Oscar worthy and also the category it won. There are lot more great telugu movies. Everyone would have appreciated if it other movies and not RRR. It’s a masala film, that’s all.
Karthikeya is definitely one of the main reasons for RRR reach in western and Oscar, happy to see him interviewing. Love you bro ❤ 🎉 and congratulations 🎉
This comment section proves that people are extremely rude online and spew jealousy and hatred for no reason. Anyway, thanks BR for this interview, it was really nice listening to SS Karthikeya. I didn’t know about the PR groups and all the work that goes into campaigning.
The hate towards RRR is more from the South than North.. There r some Narrow minded linguistic morons idiots in South who can't digest the success of other industry or individual.. these Jokers create hate wherever they go nd never learn a lesson...
Since 1996 only 1 foreign film(that wasn't a Hollywood co production) managed to get an Oscar in general category without being the country's official submission and Now RRR has done it!! overall in 95 years of Academy's history there are hardly 4 or 5 foreign films that were able to win it without being official submission. The push that u get for being ur country's official entry is huge!! RRR was at great disadvantage in that aspect but still team RRR created History!! Jealous idiots can only spew hate as we know.
North main no one is saying it was bought it's telegu rivals or yesteryear directors only that are spreading such things, just to be clear other wise bollywood ko target karna toh ajj kal hobby hain logo ki
@@siddesh5111 True, North Indians generally were very supportive of RRR except when someone calls it Telugu Cinema. Else, It was mostly Tamil and Malayalam online trolls (Not general public, just online trolls from these regions) and some hardcore KGF fans who created all the negativity.
@@suryasumanth1 I never said bollywood represents indian cinema I'm just saying that the negativity is being done by telegu people majorly, people are quick to put bollywood under fire, even when it's not done anything wrong
@@siddesh5111 Telugu people suppport every good movie. We didn't like some of the Bollywood movies because we might have seen better films than those in our industry. Even Pushpa was an Average movie and had losses in Telugu. Because we have seen the similar kind of heroic movies eariler like chatrapati. Sometimes there is no need to troll Bollywood. They themselves are enough to put them under fire. Thats from where this Boycott gang emerged.
Everyone taking about PR , bt Rajamouli sir is very good at marketing, it’s not about Oscar, he is making stepping stones for #ssmb29 so people globally get to know about Rajamouli films and will eagerly wait for his upcoming film and we know how he got appreciation Bahubali nationally, and with RRR globally
On March 30th Dasara movie is releasing. After the release of the movie it will be a huge success and it will wipe out Tamil and Malayalam cinema industry forever. It will create a landmark in the history of cinema.
But that process will surely help indian film industry. They will get to know more about our films and the good films will find a bigger market there. Imagine the boxoffice potential of Rajamouli's next with mahesh babu
@@Akshay-dn7ni That process helps only if the content is great. Example when Baahubali released all went on to make period epic films, everyone failed. Now Rajamouli film got Oscar, so, now all run to do P.R for their film but people never release the amount of work and imagination that went through to make those films.
@@Akshay-dn7ni Rajamouli makes what he loves and makes it with absolute conviction. He doesn't follow any "trends" or care about people who calls his movies lack logic or physics. He tries to tell his stories the way he imagines. That is the "only" thing other film makers need to learn from him. PR will only get you 1st day collections. The movie has to be good for it to be successful after that. RRR became successful in the west "organically" after it released on Netflix. All the PR in the west started AFTER it was already popular, not before.
Great Interview with very in depth questions. Wish we had seen a similar Bharadwaj during the Siddhartha Anand interview. That interview was almost pandering to please. No hard hitting questions there but here poor Karthikeya has to provide justification and reasoning for every step he and his team took. Great job!
Summary of interview for excited folks: RRR team planned for a 5cr budget. But, it went overbudget and they spent 8.5 cr finally. Most of the budget goes towards getting screenings in good theaters.
Also food . Pr team management cost and post nominee cost to many thing I feel 8.5 crs is reasonable amount But not every film should try it unless it as love as much as rrr But it really helps india films in future for sure Just like bahubali did for pan india movies
Please baddy, continue to touch Telugu cinema too, as you are doing. SSK, first time hearing him. His communication and confidence are really good and it flows naturally. Keep it up brother.
If someone could buy an Oscar for 8.5cr , there are folks 1000 times richer than ss rajamouli who can buy 1000 Oscars. So the jealous gang needs to learn that if you can’t appreciate others’ success, there is no point in you succeeding coz you wouldn’t know how to enjoy that either. Great work ss karthikeya - it will be a beginning for lot of good things in Indian cinema.
Nobody is jealous of that Oscar but the fact is that song is just below average song there are many better songs than nattu nattu in the dance and cherography worth of it that’s it
@@thejapearl bro first of all , through Netflix Rrr got international recognition and Rajamouli sir untilized this opportunity very well , before many people don’t know about Indian movie standards, these are stepping stones let’s hope for many
@@thejapearl hey hi …. I agree that we have songs that are better than Natu Natu but I beg to differ that it’s a below par song .. I have seen people who loved it and it’s perspective I guess. Coming to oscars , we have better songs compared to jaya ho and natu natu but I think recognition for the movie at the academy is very important for it to win any category… Natu Natu may not be best from India but among the songs nominated for oscars this year … it definitely stands out …
what people don't understand is any product needs PR to go to next level but the product has to be good in the first place, even Iphone spends millions to sell. All this buying oscars came from pure jealousy. as simple as that!
Jealousy could be the reason for some. NOT EVERYONE! It's their money and they can do whatever they want. Be it PR for rajamouli himself or the movie. No debate about that. BUT doing PR for the movie is different from doing PR to get an award, if at all you understand what is a genuine award stands for. Applying for awards, hiring a PR that is an expert in finding loopholes in Oscar's guidelines, and spending crores of money for campaigns don't feel right for many. And for myself. Am not sure if the producers of ELephant whispers did spend millions too..
To all my brilliant Indian filmmakers across the Country if u make a beautiful movie that is celebrated throughout the globe then, don't wait for FFI to consider rather go watch this interview and take notes ,so that more and more Indian films win at the Oscar's

team RRR went for the oscar because the US fans asked them to? that is awesome! don't know if they will ever do that again because a one month visit turned into a year long engagement with the US; we would not let team RRR go home.
Please interview Rama Rajamouli Mam and other family members who are a big support behind the success of each of SS Rajamouli Sir's film since years and not just now. It would be great learning experience when we get to know their perspective. And not just film specific questions but also how as a family they have grown so much and have set an example in society. Plz do consider this suggestion
Normally the kid with a silver spoon or a person whose father has a huge pocket..is arrogant..and proudy or mostly dishonest ..atleast that is a perception but this man got my heart man...I mean he was soo honest...people don't share everything about a campaign as huge and secret as this but he told all the names ..the company's names...everything ...the cost...the phases...the people involved...man...I am sold...my respect for Karthikeya and the parents who raised him to be such humvle and honest has increased...just like his father he's a gem...and he would definitely make his own name...also kudos to Bhardwaj man for sucking out such a secretive procedure man...GOLD this is! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
BR is a very smart anchor he extracted when team RRR wouldn't come and say about the money involvement & PR strategies for RRR to Oscars and etc. On their own. Galatta posted this news 1st everyone scolded them but, it made clear everything. (Yes product should also be good) but there is no denying of the campaign and PR strategies involved.
only PR will not do anything ..it will be waste of money and time.....your product should be very good then only we can push money on it....eventhough indian govt discarded it ..rajamouli went with this own money that is the confidence he has ..🙏
Probably the first interview of Bharadwaj that I didn't like the way he conducted it. Instead of being a flow, it felt like an interview trying to get information about oscar campaign. Same questions again and again.
Aim of interview itself is to make Indian film fraternity understand Oscar campaigning (as BR himself started conversation by talking about Vetrimaran's take on Oscar campaign) thats why he got in LINE PRODUCER of Natu Natu song ( RRR film).
@@rakeshkalyan6909 I understand that and what his role was. But, this wasn't a good interview in the way it was conducted. Repetitive questions and it felt like trying to extract information rather than having a conversation
I am happy that anupam chopra is not doing these interviews, good job bharadwaj love your interviews, they are honest and without any fake laughs and silly questions
Bharadwaj rangan must have said.. thank you for doing all such campaign, investing your time and energy your own money as well.. and hoping, being there away from the home land TO BRING Oscars for India.. !!!
Many people don’t understand how Oscar campaign works. The panel members get 100s of recommendations and nominations. They can’t watch every movie. So, studios campaign to keep their movie at the top of panel’s mind. Even Disney and other Hollywood studios host dinners, sends gifts, runs ad campaigns, social media campaigns etc etc. People should do some research online, and stop complaining about nothing.
What SSK said : People liked RRR and was already a popular then we went for PR. What Baldie & fellow sambars read : Oscar was bought through PR. They think Oscar is sold in T Nagar. 🤡🤡
@@bharath2896 It takes more money to create soft power of country but they did it for free for our country. South Korean Govt runs a program not a campaign, it literally runs a program to recruit, train and promote K Pop. Here an ordinary Telugu family with film background created so much of impact on Western audience and created a niche soft power for India but fellow Indians are questioning their ability and achievements. True crab mentality.
@@bharath2896 Literally every award winner and nominee at Oscars does campaigning. So, are you saying they all just bought the awards? Do you even know why campaigning is required? There are around 10000 Oscar voters, all of them are film industry professionals who has jobs and have limited amount of time. It is physically impossible for all of them to see every single movie that has ever released that year around the world. You need to do campaigning to get them to notice your movie and to spend their time to watch it. This is usually done by arranging private screenings for them. This costs money. Only then they can decide whether to vote for it or not. This is even more difficult if your movie is not in English Language. South Korea spends around 2% of its GDP to promote their culture globally such as by spending money during international award season for movies, songs etc. They get that money back 10 fold in the form of cultural tourism, fashion exports etc. So many people around the world know more about a small country like South Korea than a giant country like India.
There is no proper English voice for promoting Telugu films , like what BR does for Tamil films. That is the reason even very well made movies don't get recognised well outside Telugu states.
No need of his English voice bro. Content is good it will reach with producers itself. Be it baahubali rrr Pushpa Karthikeya. We have proved it many times
To Tamil Movie Pundit BR, Could you focus on Telugu super hit good films with low commercial value... Like Balagam which is in theaters now. Yeah bigger films and thier craze gets views to your channel but once in while look at Telugu non commercials too so that people latch you up as Unbiased reviewer or something
@@krishnasimhavemulapalli7124 they are sidelining the initial buzz. Why will the makers put their own money for the process and compete with biggies ( they would compete with the best of that award season from America's favourites ) if they don't have some initial push . Also actors and the director were not nominated only song nominations were done , even after all this. If it's all about money , PR etc they could as well best picture , best director awards as well .

Tamil people should come out of language overhead and enemity with Hindi ...like telugu people does not have any issue with hindi.....or else you will be like frog in a well ...that's where Tamil industry now 😂😂😂
recent SMALL FILM in telugu "BALAGAM" has more EMOTIONS than in whole of bahubali series ..taht is the level of telugu cinema ..jai telugu thalli ..jai sri ram , jai bharat mata!
Balagam is extremely extremely over melodramatic in last half hour of 1 and half of movie, theatre audience are like"aapandra baboi",in theatres people laughed at the movie, that is the reason it couldn't break out as c/o kancherlapalam... Last mottam anta overacting...... See latest papa movie that is masterpiece...
Bro don't try to degrade other Telugu Movies just because u liked balagam.. Telugu industry never focussed on award winning realistic stories it's always been mostly commercial..so Telugu industry grown to Pan Indian level because of mass commercial Big budget films like Bahubali, RRR etc..if we make Only Balagam kind of Movies then Telugu industry Will end up like Bengali or Malayalam industry which don't have market outside Their states or market not growing...
Thank you PR teams for getting Oscar to the ordinary song for India 🇮🇳.. If other filmmakers follow the same then PR teams will have definitely bright future.. Mera Bharath Mahaan!!
The Oscar voters get a huge number of movies to watch. Which is why if india had sent RRR as official entry , it would have helped it get in the general categories as well, since they would definitely watch it. As such , only song was nominated because india cut off the legs.
