Great review Andrew... I'm waiting patiently until the wide versions are available. Been riding the S-works 6 wide fit version for several years and loved them... I later bought a pair of -works 7's, and was very unhappy with the wrap around upper on them digging into my dorsal tendons, so glad to see Specialized have lowered the position of the top boa dial, and ditched the wrap around upper on the s- works torch slightly.
Good to hear. Bike shoe fit is a very personal thing, some will love the Sworks 8 fit, some will hate it. Personally I don't get on with Giro or Bont but that's just me....
Thanks for the honest reviews, like a lot. Which shoe do you prefer for slightly wide feet? 100 mm. Ares or Torch? I´ve had the same problem with Shimano wide: width it´s almost the same. Best wishes from Valencia.-
The Ares seemed very comfy at first, especially around the top of the foot, but I got hotspots with them. The Shimano are noticeably comfier than the Torch - softer uppers, and better for hotspots. I also tried Bone Helix which were way too stiff on the sides.
After 1st solid ride with lots of climbing; good comfort, stiff enough, work well. Are they like bedroom slippers? No. No cycle shoe is. Ventilation is not amazing, but it was hitting the 30's. I am wary of other glowing reviews where the journalist has clearly been given a pair for free, in advance of others, to test. These shoes won't change your life, and are NOT light years ahead of the 7. They have some small improvements, yes, but game changers, no.
Looking down on your shoes, they look the same width as my s works ares which are really comfy. Maybe specialized are going down the route of having wider shoes.
Compared to my shimano rc7 these look very wide toward the front. I had been thinking of trying the wide version of the torch, with the only reservation being that the wide version is only available in black, rather than white. I was interested why you opted for black in the standard width when white would have been an option, is it just a practicality thing or you prefer black aesthetically? I currently wear black, but thought the prospect of white could be interesting.
Thanks for the review👍 would like to know how would you compare this shoe to the vent considering the new torch is kinda like a "softer" s works 7, I have heard that the heel retention of the vent isnt as good as the 7 but how far is it really? Would love to hear from you about this, thanks.
Next time yours are in that state we'll crowd fund you a new pair 😂😂 I'm upgrading after 4 years and mine look great for that additional comfort on long rides. Hope the new ones last as long
@@CyclespeedTours thanks! I actually thought that Torch was slightly wider than S-Phyre. Is that 902 or 903? Or are they the same? Do you have the widths from a table somewhere? Or just measured them?
@@Pablo_Coach Incorrect. No shoes Specialized make are foot-shaped. Just because they are "comfy" does not make the shoes foot-shaped. You need to do your research and begin to understand how your footwear is adversely affecting your health. Take your insole out, place your foot on it while spreading your toes, and you tell me if your foot fits without spilling over...
