Our visit to Citrusdal was a delightful experience, with the scenic drive over the Olifants River providing a picturesque introduction to the region filled with vibrant orchards. While navigating the main road, we encountered charming landmarks like the old Anglican Church, a very neat sports facility, and a well-maintained hospital. Further exploration led us to the historic Dutch Reformed Church dating back to 1917 and the enchanting Sandveld Huisie. Our journey concluded with a visit to Modderfontein Farm, where the town’s roots trace back to 1725, providing us with a fascinating historical perspective. Overall, our time in Citrusdal was filled with fun and memorable moments. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #westerncape #citrusdal #modderfontein

Hallo Curtis en Sonja. Ek woon in Citrusdal, so baie dankie vir julle besoek aan Citrusdal. Julle voel al soos twee ou vriende saam met wie ek die land deurgereis het. Julle het my al plekke en dinge gewys wat ek nooit sou gesien of van geweet het nie, so baie dankie. Sien uit na nog baie saamtoer!

Thanks guys for another wonderful trip. Sonia had me laughing when she remarked about the potholes as I was saying the same thing to my wife when you were driving along that potholy street. One must love the Capies with their names. Fancy a ou called "Appel "🍎 in a citrus growing area🍊🍋. We had a farm worker in Hansmoeskraal called Jan Slapslaai. I guessed 1950's or 1960's for that NG Kerk. The same as you two. We were wrong ! Fancy 1941 . A quick congrats on a very lucky Springbok win🏈. One point. Wow. And the All Blacks had to play with only 14 players. Bring on the next World Cup. Look forward to your next trip.🚙

I'm glad you enjoyed this trip with us! 🚙😁 We were rather surprised at that many potholes in a Western Cape town! 😳🛣️ Jan Slapslaai sounds like he could've been quite the character. With a surname like Slapslaai, there's just no other way! We couldn't believe how far out we were with the date on that church, we were super surprised that it was that long ago! We're very proud of the Bokke! 🇿🇦🏉 We look forward to sharing our next trip with you!

What an epic trip this one was and so unexpected to start in Hermanus with Citrusdal as your final destination. I enjoyed seeing the town and its interesting surroundings as well as the benefits of both lemons 🍋 and oranges 🍊 displayed on the 2 trucks.I was particularly impressed with the camping and holiday place as the residential area around it. Aren't those valleys and vistas beautiful !Glad you're home safe, though I know you've got the next exciting installment lined up.

We tried filling in some of the blanks we left on previous routes we took through the Western Cape and we loved every minute of this trip through our beautiful home province! 🚙😍 There was one more place on our intended schedule, but the hourglass had run empty. ⌛It was just crazy that we were stuck behind those two trucks with the health benefits of lemons and oranges! 😁🍊🍋 The natural beauty in this part of the Cederberg is stunning, I loved it! 🌊⛰️ Thank you for joining us again on this trip!

Hi guys, " wouldn't it be nice to see a leopard?" NO NO NO !!! 😂. I would literally need a toilet, don't know how to say it appropriately 😅😅😅. Awesome vid, thank you soooo much 🚗🚗🚗🍊🍊🍊🍋🍋🍋

As long as you stay in the vehicle, a leopard will do you no harm. It's such a beautiful cat and we'd love to see one on every single trip. The ones remaining in the wild, have eluded us so far though. 😍🐆 I'm glad you enjoyed Citrusdal, without leopards! 🚙😁

I have to agree with you about the condition of some of the roads in Citrusdal. There were some serious potholes and we were rather surprised to see that in a Western Cape town. 🤷🏻‍♂️🛣️

Fabulous video ! So great to see Citrusdal, especially as I found some South African oranges & lemons in our local grocery store last week 🤗 what a treat to taste some sunshine from home again. Just loving your trips around the Western Cape, can’t wait to come home. Love from Vancouver 🇨🇦

In my young years, it was so nice to drive up in orange season. There would also be flowers around. We would buy a bag of oranges from one of the roadside sellers, and the smell in the car!! Mom had to get out a knife and peel oranges for us to eat at once. I can still see her posting pieces into my dads mouth while he was driving. We used to have a Cape Rough Lemon tree and those lemons could be eaten just as is, they were so delicious. The little chapel is beautiful. Roller mill...I thought immediately of oats, which are grown out there. What a pity about Sandveldhuisie. Lovely artworks. The dancer beside the cross with the orange tree...that reminds me of a poem by Uys Krige called Woordvloed. I read it years ago when I studied Afrikaans Nederlands at UCT. So beautiful! Please look it up and read. Thankyou. I really enjoyed exploring Citrusdal with you

Yes, the smell of citrus is hard to beat, especially in a small space like a car. Precious memories of your mom peeling oranges for you and feeding your dad while driving. We used to roll the oranges under our feet until they were soft, poke a hole in the top, drink the juice and break the fruit open to eat the flesh. Wonderful memories those! 🍊 Sonia loves lemons, me not so much. She loves the thick-skinned ones, she says they taste better than the other variety. 🤷🏻‍♂️🍋 I'll check out Woordvloed. 👍🏻

Hi you two! What a nice trip under the blue skies with rocky hills and the fabulous mountains. The town is so interestingly citrus centered, with even citrus health lessons on the trucks! The views of the citrus plantations and open flower fields stretching to the mountains are really beautiful. The (large?) camping area with the neat chalets also looks very inviting with its great views. I really need to thank you again for continuing with your untiring travels to show the most precious gems of our beloved country. You deserve a good relaxing rest after the Western Cape exploration. Hope to see you soon! Keep safe!

The mountains are indeed fantastic in this area, my favourite mountain range! 😍⛰️ I thought the two trucks were just the coolest things and we happened to be stuck behind the one on the way in and the other on the way out. Too funny! 😁🍊🍋 The campsite is generous in size and I'm sure can accommodate quite a few campers. A beautiful location on the Olifants River. We had a good long rest after this trip and are fresh back from our next one, so we look forward to sharing that one with you too, starting tomorrow! 🚙🤩

Hi guys more education on rural SA biltong and droeswors for hangover must remember that. Underberg is my go to lol .the views of the mountains and farm land were stunning with abundance of orchards and crate for the fruit loved the old Anglecan church definitely a Scottish influence in the area st Margaret of Scotland shame about the replica thatched building no being used. The DRF church got me I would never have said 1940s again lovely brick work the citrus tree with the people was cute .the beehives were great bees equals fruit. Loved the golf club sign !!! .the campsite was amazing right on the river also the turkeys ready for Christmas the history of modderfontein with the the ,McGregor cemetery shows the Scottish connection the town seemed quiet but I bet its buzzing in the main season great video thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one. Just to say we'll done Bokke brilliant result 👏 👍.

I remember Underberg! 🤣 I much prefer hangover biltong mix though, it works wonders! Citrus, citrus and citrus clearly dominates this area as the name gave away. It was cool to see the fruit orchards right outside of town, I can only imagine the millions of tons of citrus those farms produce each year! 🍋🍊 I so wish we were able to find more info on the Anglican Church. 💒 The Modderfontein farm with the McGregor connection was super interesting, so much so that I came to read up on it when we got home. 🚙🏛️

We've driven past the town many times, but never actually went in. It was good to see the orchards right outside of town, the beautiful river and mountains. 🍋🍊🌊⛰️ I'm sure the place has grown quite a bit since your last visit. Yes, we arrived back home the Monday before the Sunday storm. I was up half the night to make sure our floors weren't damaged. 😨🌧️ I don't even want to think what would've happened if we weren't home.
