Sonia was excited, but I was apprehensive about taking a boat out onto the ocean, as I usually get very seasick. However, when we arrived in the morning and saw how beautiful the day was and how calm the ocean looked, I felt much more at ease. There was a large group of Brazilian tourists on board who were just as excited as we were, which made the trip even more enjoyable. It was amazing to see seals swimming around the island and hundreds of them basking on the shore. Interestingly, the island is actually named Duiker Island after the Afrikaans name for the cormorant birds who live there, but it's commonly known as Seal Island. When we returned to the harbour, we browsed through the curios and trinkets being sold and grabbed a light bite to eat. Overall, we had a fantastic day.
