The beginning is how Elena should have been, Julie and the writers hollowed Elena out and tried to make her unlikeable so they could focus on the triangle. That was done poorly.
Elena slapping Damon will forever be my favorite scenes lol. Good job. Season 2 Elena was the best character. Hated how her character went downhill later, still love her tho. :(

Everyone forgets how sassy Elena used to be I think they made her less sassy and bitchy for lack of a better term because those are Katherine traits and I guess they wanted to differentiate between Elena and Katherine. It's easy for Caroline to act like that for example because she isn't related to Katherine, so nobody is gonna be like oh my god you're a bitch like Katherine. In the end of S2 episode 3 Damon said to Elena "you have more in common with Katherine than just your looks." that probably made Elena feel insecure and not want to be like her which means she lost her sarcasm/sassiness too
And that's why everyone likes S1 & S2 Elena.. I love her here but things started changing after this.. When she started to become that silly, self obsessed Elena who literally chose trash over treasure. I don't understand how after every wrong thing Damon does, he always says it's because of someone else pissing him off or because he was angry at someone, or because he has some other plans. I hate Damon so so much, and i still cannot forgive him for killing Lexi
maybe because elena is genuinely a forgiving person. she forgave stefan for stalking her, lying to her and trying to kill her. she forgave katherine on her death bed. elena was still a good character in the later seasons.
