I'm doing rhe same convertion to a 77 Vette. How was clearance to the hood??

It sits about the same height as the mid point on the carb. You can also use one from a vette or Camaro from that year.

Did your heads have all the holes drilled for the brackets?

The early small block heads have 2 of the three bolts on one side and all on the other if I remember. I ran those two bolts along with the braces and never had any issues. Just make sure you run the braces behind the AC unit. When you pull one out of the junkyard, get everything! Take pictures and then use bracing as much as you can and you should be OK.

On the side without the second hole on the passenger side . I pretty much have one bolt . What do I do ?

The new aluminum ones do. The old steel did not, so I only had one bolt. With the braces it was fine. Never had any issues with just the one.
