Actually is not being old...its more like being mature rider, im only 37 and im looking forward to have this bike, have sports before but this one has the best od both worlds, touring and power
Will deffo look at fitting one of these as she is now run in nicely. As far as wind noise goes the Schubert C3 pro does the trick.I am loving my "sleeper" bmw S1000xr.
That is one of the best sounding exhausts ive ever heard. You scored there mate. It also got rid of the only bad point i find in this bike which is the ugly looking stock exhaust at the stupid horizontal angle. Have you posted any videos riding the bike and giving your opinion of the effectiveness of the screen? Let me just say that you have one of the most beautiful bikes ive seen, colour, screen and all. Thanks.
Thanks mate ... very useful ... both in relation to the screen and the Cobra mufflers (killer looks). I want both for my 2017 XR ... but will have to save the pennies for a bit longer !
Hello mate, now that you have had the Hypershots for a while can you tell me please if 1. the tips have discoloured and 2. has the black faded. Others have told me this can happen and I'd be interested to hear from you on this as Im looking to buy a set. Thank you.
I nearly bought one in 2017 but my legs were a bit too tucked up for my arthritic knees 🙁 I can't understand why they didn't follow the lines of the tail unit with the exhaust can either. They just don't seem to flow with each other. Not that my ramblings take anything away from what's possibly the best bike around at the moment tho 🤣👍👍
That is a gorgeous looking bike, I love that colour scheme. I'm thinking of trading my GSA for an XR but I think the XR may be too tall for a shorty like me.
Just enough of a volume increase to make the bike nice and spicy and gets rid of that humongous stock can. If I'm gonna get this bike I'd probably run it with the baffle.
Hi, Cobra USA does seem not to be connected with Cobra exhausts Germany where I bought mine from. Check out their Facebook page on this link: facebook.com/cobraexhaust/photos/a.10153839461278968.1073741856.321052378967/10153839461743968/ They are great to deal with. Regards Peter
Nice video Peter...love the bike set-up, she looks sharp. Couple of questions if you don't mind? How do you like your aftermarket windscreen vs. stock? I'm looking to replace mine and haven't picked one yet. Did your bike come stock with the Batilax tires? Mine came with Pirelli Rosso 3's. Interesting. The look of the HP seat is much nicer, how's the comfort level compared to stock?
Hi Tim, The screen is definitely an improvement over OEM but not astoundingly better. Once you understand the effect the 6-positions of the secondary aerofoyle has on the air flow it does knock down a lot of the wind impact. Coupled with the screen height adjustment you can be completely protected and I'm 6'4" tall. Bike came with the Bridgestones. I'm happy enough with them but would probably change to the Pirelli Rosso III when the time comes. As far as the seat is concerned, this is the BMW HP tall seat and it's a great seat, perfect for me and very comfortable. Hope this answers your questions. Also purchased the Evotech water and oil radiator guard. Let me know if you want for info. Regards Peter
Thanks Peter......I really like the seat and it's on my short list of things to get, it's nice to here it's comfortable. I also agree that the Evotech radiator and oil guards are a must. From all the aftermarket ones available, Evotech seem to be the best quality out there. Thanks again for your input and posting videos......it makes it fun for all of us!!
Thanks mate. Sorry about the soft audio. I am somewhat an amateur at making videos but you can hear it if you crank up the audio (at least on a PC). In any case to answer your question, it is a simple slip-on pipe.
Hi Peter, great video. I'm keen to know whether that is a HP "tall" seat or standard height HP seat? I too have the XR and live in the Dandenongs. I'd be keen to have a look at your set up
Hi Pete Yes it's the HP tall seat. Different shape to the OEM and has thicker upholstery. Very comfortable. I'm 6'4" and 110 kgs so suits me perfectly. Regards Peter
Hi Peter, perfect exhaust system. I guess I will contact the Cobra guys too. Beside that could you give me a link where you purchased these beautiful wheel rim stickers. I need to have those...Thank you in advance and best regards. Karsten
G'day Karsten. The rim stickers are on eBay from "stickersuk". I thought of applying only 3 x stickers per side but ended up deciding 5 x stickers per side looked best. Stickersuk seller is great!
Thanks Darrell. I didn't weigh the OEM muffler but it was really heavy....I'm guessing about 8kgs. The Cobra Ultrashorts are feather weight, lucky to be 1-2 kgs! Cobra's website for your interest is www.cobra-exhaust.com/. Peter
Great video Peter. I just purchased my 2017 S1000XR same color as yours. Question about the rim stickers you installed. How much gap between each sticker ?
Can't really comment other than you measure the circumference of the rim divide that by the number of rim stickers you are putting on and mark up your rim accordingly. Take your time it's pretty straight forward. Good luck.
Hi, I'm guessing there is a performance improvement but I haven't measured HP before and after. The weight saving is substantial! This new Ultrashort pipe weighs next to nothing!! It feels faster and sounds 'faster'. It does attract a bit attention from on-lookers. Regards Peter
My Cobra order form looked like this: Cobra Hypershots Ultrashort Prime Slip-on Road Legal/EEC/ABE homologated BMW S 1000XR x 1 403,32 € mattbrushed tips x 1 0,00 € stainless steel mattblack x 1 168,03 € Cobra 2016 Laser Decal x 1 0,00 €
Hi, I’ve the same bike and want to fit the same exhaust, actually the only one looking nice on this bike. Can you confirm no drop in performances, with or without db killer? I think I’ll remove the db killer, though. Suggestions on where to buy it? Thx!!!
You'll love it! No performance drop. Feels and "sounds" like it's faster! Read the posts below and my replies for the full details on where to buy and the costs I paid. All the best Emiz.
Peter, I think I’ll buy it from the german website, maybe steel version that I’ll paint black (the black coat option costs too much!!!). Do you finally run it w/o db killer? Do u have any backfiring? Any problem of water into the muffler when it rains or washing the bike, given the ending inclination? Thx again!!!
If you run the bike in Rain or Road mode there are no pops, farts or crackles just a sport bike exhaust note But if you change to Dynamic Mode then you'll get a fantastic orchestra of exhaust sounds including exhaust pops, farts and crackles on deceleration. It's an addictive sound that all your riding mates will rave about. Awesome!
In allen Modi.
Bike looks beautiful. For the exhaust, this video says the dB killers are welded in. Is that right? How hard was it to take them out? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jHClAMVMh9A.html

Contact Auri to order! Hey Kevin, you can place your order here: www.cobraexhaust.de/Cobra-Hypershots-Ultrashort-Prime-Slip-on-road-legal-EEC-ABE-homologated-BMW-S-1000XR_2 THX Auri Huesmann Cobra Exhaust
Get these Cobras or any other LOUD exhaust pipes! I had so many close calls already with the quiet stock pipes! Bright lights and loud horn will also help Cagers see & hear you!
Hi Peter, one more question. I contacted the Cobra guys (Speed Products) in Germany and asked them for the HP data sheet with the Cobra including the DB-killer on an S1000XR. It looks like they don't want to publish it. Do you feel any decrease in HP. I found some posts with Kawasaki drivers. They mentioned 20 km/h less top speed after they mounted a Cobra exhaust slip on.
Finally fitted the sane exhaust! Great looking and sound, very happy with it. I’ve removed both db killer, loud but not too much, still acceptable even for touring. The only problem is too much popping in dynamic mode, is that normal?
Very simple and straight forward. The only fiddly bit is removing the baffles, if that is what you want to do. You need to remove the tips first then the baffles and refit the tips. I used a small amount of locktite (or similar) on the threads of the screws when refitting the tips to ensure they don't vibrate loose. BTW, I watched your video on fitting the Evotech bar end weights. You were so impressed I went out and bought some as well. I agree, BIG difference. Thanks
Great thanks! baffles will be staying in! I live in germany and it's highly illegal to remove move, got caught with them out on another bike and it cost me three points on my licence and a 280 euro fine. It's the first thing the coppers look for if you get pulled over....bugger. glad you like the bar ends, makes a great difference
Only if you know what you are looking at. Have another look at my video - it shows the difference. There is little difference between the internal appearance of the pipe with the baffles in or out. If you reinserted the screws after removing the baffles you wouldn't be able to tell.
