The research for my fiction novel requires a fair amount of technical input from PhD physicists and other similar scientists. How do I protect my final story from claims by the people I may have communicated with for my book and whom I may have used as input for my research?

Timestamp your work before sharing it

@@nikoletta_ How does that prevent someone from making claims on my book's content if they feel they own what they told me. i.e. their assisting labor as a work product or as a coauthor? They may even charge me with plagiarism by saying I used words that they spoke. There are a lot of slimy people who will sue at the drop of a hat.

@@bluenetmarketing if you timestamp your original draft prior to their input, and if we're talking about a fictional work, the timestamp proves your idea/story was yours first. Also, the draft you timestamp can prove that what you've written doesn't contain any copied material from what they share with you, because you can compare it to theirs

@@nikoletta_ But I can't create a draft without the technical input. You're putting the cart before the horse.

@@bluenetmarketing you're right, but still there must be a basic story even without the research
