You are way more entertaining than I was expecting!

I appreciate that! We should have some more entertaining content available shortly. The “Fate Chart” also indicated that “Yes,” there will actually be some combat in Episode 3. Thanks for checking out the channel!

The weight modifier is multiplied times the roll you made for height, then added to the base weight. In this case, you rolled a 5 for height and a 7 for the weight modifier. 5 x 7 is 35, which is then added to the base weight for a half-elf (110 lb.), for a total of 145 pounds.

This is a much better explanation! Thank You for the clarification.

On Roll20, at least, I like to add attack based spells to the section with weapons

"You are quite possibly the worst, revenge driven, half-elf captain I have ever heard of!" "But you have heard of me?!"

This is a top Top 10, maybe 5, or even 3, favorite comments on the channel of all time. 🤣

@@EpicSolo Such an honour! But I totally missed out Sorcerer from his title, so it should be "revenge driven, half-elf, sorcerer, captain" 😅🤣

How easy it's to create a character sheet in D&D5e!! It's seems even very light--I prefer crunchy CS. Lets see what Malfak will do in this new world!!

lol! I found the process a tad overwhelming. I paused and restarted the video, and flipped back and forth in the rulebook so many times, my head just about spun off. Just gonna say, the dnd 5e book is like a technical manual that exploded into 1000 pieces, then was pasted back together with pieces of a fairy tale book. On the upside, OSE character creation seems pretty easy now.

So glad Malfak isn't a Half-Elf Bard. I see way too many of those or Wizards, and not nearly enough Sorcerers in D&D games. I haven't checked yet, but I look forward to seeing more of this series and hope it continues on for a while.

There was an opportunity during this session to refer to "Strange Maaaaagic" :)

Dagger is a finesse weapon, can you use Dex for attack bonus?
@gleemonexrx
@gleemonexrx 11 месяцев назад
If I understand correctly, dagger would have attack bonus of 3…because finesse adds dex bonus +1, and sorcerer class has proficiency in weapons allowing him to add the proficiency bonus +2.

I loved this walkthrough, I followed along and filled out a character sheet and viewed the rules as you went along creating malfak. I can’t believe how disorganized the players handbook is, seems little bits of the rules are scattered across dozens of pages, it’s so easy to miss something. And in Dndbeyond, they completely removed alignment from the players handbook (ughh). So there is zero reference to the chaotic nature of elves and sorcerers darn it. On malfak’s armor class, you said to add 10 plus his dex bonus which was +1, but you wrote 12. Am I misunderstanding something or should his AC have been 11? (Edit: I see in Ep3 that you have Malfak's AC = 11, nice). Malfak is an incredible character btw in season 2, it’s great to see his character sheet and background, though in the episodes you certainly gave him a depth that went way beyond his humble sailor background.

I like the title, it’s unexpected. Did you study Sanskrit? Or Hinduism? Or both?

Only as required for Eastern Philosophy studies. Another passion of mine, along with TTRPGs that inevitably seems to find its way into my games and writing. My understanding of Hinduism and Tat Tvam Asi comes from an absolutely profound experience examining the Mahavakyas as relayed in the Upanishads. When reading the Chandogya Upanishad, I distinctly remember having to put the book down, and walk away, because the subject matter was so profound, I had a physical reaction. I am by no means an expert on Hinduism. Most of my experience with eastern philosophy is via Taoism and Buddhism, the former of which I received and honors designation for an essay on how Taoism manifests in Western culture (or perhaps a better abstract is how it doesn’t!) It’s largely and esoteric subject that no one in my sphere enjoys discussing so I’ll talk, or write, about it at length when given the opportunity! Thanks for asking! Alan Watts, of course, is a huge inspiration and conduit into many of those concepts for English speaking folks like myself!

@@EpicSolo Nice! I remembered the phrase, and the character Svetaketu. It’s been two decades or so, but I used to read extensively on Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, yoga, meditation, and mysticism. And I remember reading Alan Watts. Unfortunately my memory is absolutely useless these days, so I don’t have anything to say about all those things, except they still have a special place in my heart 😂 But two decades ago I’m sure we could have had a profound conversation about the Tao and Wu Wei and who knows what else 😂
