I agree with your sentiment, but I really don't agree that most people would be annoyed and unwilling to mentor their replacement. I think most people would be very willing. Of course you don't ask a player who is leaving the team for another team to mentor the replacement, that'd be a horrible idea. It happens when the player is planning to retire from his role anyway, and not compete against his replacement. Say, for a role change where the player stays on the team, or perhaps as a part of a retirement plan. In this case, there is absolutely no reason to *not* mentor your replacement, because you *want* your legacy to carry on. Furthermore, in many cases, retiring players have no desire to burn bridges and might also wanna stay involved in the org, but in another role (eg, coaching, analyzing). In that case, it's the best scenario, since you're still directly involved in the team as a mentor when you leave your player contract. Even if you plan to withdraw from the sport completely, you would still want the team you retired from, the org you love, your friends and teammates to keep succeeding when you're gone, and I think many would relish the opportunity to have a direct influence on that.

Another person blinded by hate for Thorin. Did you even watch the video? Thorin did not get shut up, he was completely right in being skeptical - everyone was. Because he was a nobody. Just because 1 out of 100 turns out to be good does not mean it is wrong to assume he most likely was not going to be. From what we know, what he knew, it was unlikely Boomich was going to be this good. I think he's awesome. But that was unexpected.
