Hi, Mark and Kate As for me, I am not into any kind of sports; however, My husband is a diehard Arsenal fan. He even wakes up in the middle of the night to watch and support his favorite team. I am literally curious why people are really crazy about particular sports. Thanks for this precious episode. I really enjoy watching every video you offer to us over time.
Thanks so much for sharing and welcome back! 🙏 If your husband is an Arsenal fan you can call him "a Gunner" or "a Gooner"! 😄 I suppose watching something live is always more exciting, because if something exciting or really special happens, then you can say you were "there" and saw it with all the other fans. The replays are never quite as exciting!

I stay active with some yoga and walking. I wish I was into sports but it isn't my thing. Being from the Turkiye,football is a huge thing,so my nephew is a big football nerd/a diehard. If we watch a big match with him, it draws me in and his passion rubbed off on me. Thanks to you for pushing me practice😊

@@highlevellistening Formula 1 is the third most watched sport by Brazilians. Formula 1 is still popular here, but it was more popular in the past. Thus, football, volleyball and Formula 1 are the most watched sports by us. 😊

I wouldn't say I particularly like sports. I've only been to a sports event in person once, and that was an MLB game in the U.S. but I found the baseball game really boring. The pace was so slow. I couldn't really follow how the game was progressing; it seemed like they were watching for fun of cheering and hanging out with friends, eating, drinking and having a good time.
Haha this sounds like all American sports to me (Mark) to be fair 🤣 I think European and American sports have quite a different philosophy about (most) sports - in Europe the games are shorter but more intense. For example football ⚽️ is 90 minutes, but in the USA games like baseball and American football 🏈 can be up to 4 hours! Because the games are longer I think you don't have to pay so much close attention to every moment and every play, so it's a more relaxed and social atmosphere. Sometimes that's fun, sometimes it's too long! 😄 The first baseball game I ever watched lasted 4 hours and ended 1-0 😪
Is British English as different from AE as Canadian language is from the French one? That is, as a French I don't understand anything from Canadians and Canadian movies need subtitles in France.
I definitely have trouble with some of the thick québécois accents but a lot of my Canadian friends who speak French as a native or second language often sound like they speak European French with an American accent 😄Most of the time I understand them (I speak French) but at times the language is completely different. Remember that Mark and I are giving you fairly standard easily understandable English conversation but there are Americans and Brits with very thick accents and they make it sound like different languages 😂 It’s fun 🙃😂 -Kat
Keep abreast of Religiously I ' ve recently gotten into... Draw me in A huge thing I am not particularly into sport, so watching it is not really a part of my life. Though , I can watch seldom if I run into any of sportsmen or teams are playing from my country to root for them. By the way, why does nerd have negative meaning exactly? Like what's wrong if someone knows a number of things about their Interest?
It's not necessarily a bad thing, just as kids, it was a mean way to make fun of other children, but as adults we have time and energy to meet more people who like the same things we do! Now it's more of a bit of teasing and poking fun and joking with friends to call each other a nerd. thanks so much for writing out the new words and phrases, we hope they helped, have a great day!
be fair, Azerbaijan has been hosting Formula 1 games at a high level for years, don't forget that, why don't you mention it, but you mention the names of Australia and Japan, who have no interest, when you say Formula 1, how come you forget Azerbaijan, we welcome you in our country
I mentioned Australia and Japan as examples of when I need to wake up very early to watch the races live. The street race in Baku is only 3 hours ahead of the UK.
