My favorite part about the Knitting A Good Yarn podcast with Jackie and Carmen is all the GASPS when they behold how the sweaters look on each other! Love those two! 😂❤

Hello from Swansea, Illinois. I always knit my sleeves both at the same time that way they are both the same size. Love your hot water bottle cover.

Hi Janet!! Yes I think that’s a great plan! I’m sure it brings the sweater to the finish line sooner as well.

First of all.... I love the Ample Sweater. It's is going in my queue asap. The Cardigan is going to be so worth all of the time and patience. It's beautiful .. Great tips while seaming. Take Care Kim

Yes! Add it to your queue. It’s been a great travel companion and layering piece. The cardigan that never ends…. Thanks for the moral support to keep going!!

Using the Spanish Worsted yarn, I’m imagining a “smaller” hat so you can also knit fingerless mittens and have a set. I love wearing sets

Great episode! We must have been on the same wavelength as I just knit the Bisbis- it's so fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing your tips for seaming- I usually speed through that part as I find it so tedious!

That hot water bottle cover is so cute!! How rude of cats to not want to use them, mine also wants nothing to do with hers 😂
@Knitweekend

So rude!! I worked really hard and thought it was a brilliant idea. But I don’t like water beds either. So maybe I can relate…. 😆

Try placing your beret straight across at the forehead then patting the back down on an angle - it’s how the military wear theirs and I think looks best. You don’t want it poking up And for your cardigan- definitely a vertical buttonband, horizontal a bit nanna. I’ve recently knit a double knit band and it looks brilliant, really polished. It’s not a quick solution but you’re aiming for an heirloom piece so well worth it. Petite Knit uses it for some of her recent cardigan patterns and mine was the Calm Down Cardigan by Lily Kate France.

Thank you for this beret tip! Love it!! Yes, I’m leaning toward the vertical button band as well. I like the method I used for my Mouliné Cardigan quite a bit. It’s not double knit but it looks really nice.

All over cable cardigan jacket is the best. Yes black is eye straining. I have one I bought in Ireland in 2000 that is still like brand new. I found it at a lovely off the main roads cottage shop knit be a lovely Irish woman who loved telling me the story of knitting it. Now you h

Now you have a story to tell. I do agree that seamed garments hold their shape well.

Me again!! I love Amanda’s idea. Something a relative pointed out to me is that even if you compare the cost of your own fiber/notions purchase for a “designer dupe” of a mass produced pattern, you’re not getting a true 1:1 because the garment you can buy isn’t going to be handmade. If you look at handmade market available sweaters in the same fiber and similar style, they’re inevitably 3x the price of a gorgeous luxury machine knit garment. Just food for thought!
@Knitweekend
@Knitweekend 8 месяцев назад
Hi again, Chloe!! This is 100% true and something to consider for sure in that discussion. And also from a hand knit pattern you can get into all price ranges of yarn. I clearly need to establish some criteria. 😆

You made yarn!!! I definitely am an overspinner. Spinning takes time and I can relate to the uncomfortable feelings that come with learning with something new. It’s amazing how inconsistent spins look knit up - it is magical. Soaking and setting helps even out, too. 💚

Also, my electric eel has a pedal that you can use with your foot or hand to turn it on and off. I wonder what version you have.

I have my second skein done now. Maybe I’ll actually soak it and get it ready for knitting. Maybe…..

The EEW has a foot/hand pedal that you can use to turn it on and off. This way, you completely leave the speed dial alone.

Someone else commented about this too. I guess the person I borrowed from did not have this add on. But good to know!!

FYI you did not put the set-in sleeve and shoulder incorrectly. You just did it differently. I am a sewing teacher and the “appropriate” way is to, sew the sweater together first and then, sew the shoulder seam in the round. So, the moral of the story is, there are more than one way to do it correctly.

Hello Hailey from the U.K. Regarding mimicking shop bought knits. The most stunning U.K. shop ‘toast’ /toa.st is one I would recommend you look at? The most wonderful knits, using all wool, studio Donegal being one of them- pricy, but to die for!! A wonderful ‘artsy/oriental’ aesthetic. If I were a more experienced knitter, I could see them all being possible to replicate (at a significantly cheaper price point…) I’m still going on the Highlander slipover, and so enjoying the process. Thanks for another great video. ☺️🧶

Hi Lara!! I will check it out. I think my MIL has ordered from them previously actually. I went with my aunt this weekend to get yarn for her first sweater. Guess what she chose! The Soft Tweed in a lovely garnet. It’s gorgeous. Glad your Highland is going well. Can’t wait to hear what you think of the finished project!!
