Okay I’m back! I am SO with you on the perhaps lofty goal of wanting to love everything you make-it’s so worth the extra effort to go back and tweak things to make them what you want! Thanks so much for a perfect hour of knitting company on a long flight ☺️ PS Hi to Dad 🙋🏻‍♀️

Thanks so much for keeping me company on my sad girl day Hailey! And more importantly for being vulnerable with us all. ❤ Absolutely loved all of the makes as always and I have a very strong feeling that we all might be entering into our cardigan era thanks to a little push from little miss CeCe (she says as she swatches for a cardigan). 🤭

So much love and hugs to you, Mia!!! I think maybe we’ve all moved past the annoyance of WS knitting, picking up button bands and attaching buttons. We’ve embraced all the less fun stuff as part of the process.

I feel you - I just lost my mom to pancreatic cancer on New Year’s Eve. I cared for her for almost a year and I get these awful flashbacks of some of the horrific suffering she endured. Love and prayers to you

Oh, Kim. I can only imagine what a traumatic year it must have been for you. We had a tough road the most couple of years as her chronic illness progressed, but those last several hours… those do play on loop for me sometimes too. Less over time, thank goodness. I know it must have been the hardest thing you’ve done in your life to see her through in such a selfless way. But it sounds like you were there for her every step of the way and that is something. She must have known how much you loved her. Hugs to you!

I’m feeling more inspired to do a cardigan after watching this. I have only done one (with a zipper) and it was steeked because I don’t love purling. And button bands really intimidate me. Maybe 2024 will be the year.
@Knitweekend
@Knitweekend 7 месяцев назад
You can absolutely do it!! Maybe try a crew neck. That would allow you to pick up fewer stitches in one go. I find them easier.

Your cardigans look great! You knit the Ozetta cardi super fast!!! I have been itching to cast on a cardigan; I have the Portedge in mind. Trying to finish a couple WIP’s I am free to focus on the sweater.

Your navy cardigan is GORG!!! ❤ You’re inspiring me to enter a cardigan era as well. And your spinning looks amazing! I “pre-draft” nearly allll of my fiber and I love Jillian Moreno!!! I was just referencing Yarnitecture the other day 😊 Was so happy to see a new video from you today! 💗

Love your navy cardigan on you. It looks so good with your hair colour. And oh my god your tide Cardigan really is Easter/spring in a Cardigan. So much fun. Really enjoyed all your project and so much Cardigan inspiration for when I finally decide to cast on mine. Hope the spring vibes in your knitting and outside help you with feeling better. But it’s also good to accept the waves of sadness. ❤

Thanks Becky!!!! I think it’s a win. It ought to be with how slow I was in working on it. 😆 I accidentally ruined my own birthday surprise when I asked him if I could call one of his musicians to commission some music. It happened to be the day they recorded.

Very lovely episode. All of your cardigans are beautiful. As for the pallet you picked…the olive would be my choice. ☺️ Also, if I may…the whole “carbons from shipping” is truly NOT something you should be concerned with or feeling some kinda way. Happy knitting. ❤

So sorry to hear about your family’s loss. I too lost my mother last spring and still have days that feel impossible to move through. The colours for your test knit are so joyous! I’m looking forward to seeing the FO and how you style it. I love knitting lace but don’t wear it often.
@Knitweekend
@Knitweekend 7 месяцев назад
Jen, I’m sorry to hear of your mother’s passing as well. I hope those types of days are fewer for us over time. I hear that’s the case. This year of “firsts” has been hard. I just needed a little brightness and joy after my wintering this year. I’m not much of a lace knitter. Since there are no YO’s it creates a more solid fabric which I think would make it more wearable day to day.

Lovely to see you back Hailey. Wonderful blue cardigan and Moby slipover. Thanks for the tips re the Highlander slipover- I’m delighted with the finished result- especially valuable were your bind off tips. As a relatively new knitter, they help so much. The Moby slipover is next on the list. However I watched another podcaster who mentioned that the Moby pullover was in her opinion one of the worst P.K. patterns- this has ‘scared’ me a little. Any ideas why and any tips before I co? Thanks as always from 🇬🇧☺️

Hi Lara!! So glad to hear you’re pleased with your Highland Slipover. It is such a great basic. I’m not an expert on Petite Knit patterns. I’ve only knit a few. But I’m meeting a friend tomorrow who has knit the sweater. I’ll ask her opinion. I didn’t have any trouble with the Slipover pattern.

In terms of the carbon cost of shipping from Norway- remember that they would get shipped from Norway anyway to whichever retailer sells them in the States, and then perhaps shipped again to you, so it’s not any better to get it locally from that point of view.

I had to pause this to stop laughing when you started intentionally rustling the packaging before putting it down. In more substantive commenting: the navy cardigan came out wonderfully. It suits you so well.

Hi Hailey-I really loved this episode and seeing all your cardigans. I also seem to be in a cardigan phase-currently finishing up one for my dad as a gift. I think I’ll take your suggestion of sewing a clear button on the back. Did you sew on the front and back buttons separately or did you sew them on at the same time? Thanks!
@Knitweekend
@Knitweekend 7 месяцев назад
Hi Amy! I sewed them on at the same time. It was a fiddly event, but I think it definitely helped. I’m so glad you took time to watch and spend some time with me!

Love the sweaters! Just wondering…I live an hour away from Nashville in Ky and have gone to 2 yarn stores there. I’m hoping they have not closed🥴. Haus of Yarn and Bliss have been really nice stores to shop.
@Knitweekend
@Knitweekend 7 месяцев назад
Yes they are open still!! Haus of Yarn is our only store in Nashville proper. I consider it my LYS for sure. Bliss is actually in Brentwood about 30 min south of Nashville. I tend not to go down to that area very often. There is also one about 30 min west in Kingston Springs, but I haven’t been there and can’t recall the name.

Malabrigo Nube is notoriously difficult to spin if you don’t steam it first to release the compaction. Also merino in general likes to be spun very thin. Try dividing braid into pencil thin lengths before spinning
@Knitweekend

Thank you this tip!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
@TRaceTK

I totally agree! I often pre-draft my fibers for ease of spinning and DEFINITELY for the Malagrigo Nube! It is not you 😊
@bekahfisher3614
@bekahfisher3614 7 месяцев назад
Came here to say this. I spun a braid of Nube, only pre-drafting, and it was...difficult. I've more recently spun three braids and steamed them thoroughly, twice each, carefully easing the width out to its fullest extent after each steam pass, and the difference is astonishing - it's quite nice to spin after the steam treatment.

Love your cardigans. Newer garment knitter. I am confused how you did the 1×1 rib buttonband afterward. You said you start at center back. Are you picking up stitches as you work around or sewing on later. Can't visualize how you would pick up stitches.
@Knitweekend
@Knitweekend 7 месяцев назад
Yes, I pick up every other row then break the yarn. I did a provisional cast on then started my 1x1, knitting the last stitch on the button band together with the picked up stitch.
