This Toyota AE86 Hatchback has been built into an amateur drift car by its owner "Juan Jovi." Featuring a Honda F20 four-cylinder engine and 6-speed gearbox from a 2002 Honda S2000, this 86 takes the formula that made that car special in the first place with the 4AGE high-revving engine and RWD, and really cranks that up. The S2000 drivetrain is a perfect combination with this car.

idk about that my forza ae86 has a honda motor . the 4age is frankly garbo its gutless and costs tons of money to make anything over 150hp with, why are these cars so hard to get in the states :(

4age is not garbage. You're a moron if you think that. It's one of the best motors Toyota has ever made. High revving n/a 4cyl designed for cars that are lightweight and highly maneuverable. This car "deserves" a 3SGTE or any other Toyota 4cyl. Those make power a lot easier with boost. And it isn't always "hating". It's not wrong to have an opinion that opposes someone else's. Being rude and outlandish however is hating. Just wanted to clarify.

TheGameDeity The F20 is a great swap and I'm a Honda guy myself, but I'm also from PR and we live our Toyotas aswell. I like to keep brands with brands also. I would swap this thing with a 2ZZ personally. It's just hard to beat 240hp factory from and s2k.

hehe this could make for the ideal single's/couple's car for getting your kicks on the way to the grocery store. i drive my AP1 s2k to a certain food-4-less in Van Nuys specifically because it has a tunnel on the way (where Sherman way runs under the airport runway). It sounds eerily like a Lotus49 or similar mid/late-1960s F1 engine screaming through it every time....usually lifts the chonies a tad.

Not bad, Matt. You didn't spin and you didn't kill your exterior cameraman. i'd say that's a win. In 86's like this, you just have to put your goddamn foot down and never lift. That's the key to a successful drift.

HONDA V-TEC are the best engines,still have my stock Integra R from 88.it still revs to 8500 RPM,Just got new TOYO tires on 16 rims,brand new Willwood brakes for the front axle....with Renault Clio RS front Shocks(rally),it makes my car a Gecko on pretty much any surface,that S2000 engine is a marvel.

4yrs late from someone who doesn't drift, but from my basic common sense it would seem that with low HP and torque, you'd want your enter speed to be much lower, heard you mention you were trying to drift at ±85mph....I don't see that very feasible with low HP, I'd personally be just trying to flick it and clutch dump it in the corners at lower speed instead of higher speed and pulling the E....I could be wrong 😅

Looks like it is balanced nicely for handling corners well but it doesn't look easy to drift this car. Looks as if not enough torque, possibly a quicker steering rack required, and a looks too soft and bouncy and grippy in the rear end. OFC I could be wrong, but I would be putting stiffer rear swaybar & bushings, much stiffer shocks, and a small oem turbo. Oh, and it needs a muffler way more than the 5hp gained from not having one!

No hate over the S2k motor, just never saw the appeal over even an NA 1j or NA 2j. The price difference nowadays between f20 and f22 motors and 1j swaps is hilarious for what you get. Also transmissions, Toyota knows transmissions.

Yo, you have to go HAM to get an AE86 to drift because of the short wheelbase and lack of torque. Watch some videos of them drifting in Japan (runningfree86 on RU-vid) and check it out.

i think the reason some people don't like the sound is you hear 9,000rpm and hear it shift 2 or 3 times but see a car that is only moving 30mph and hasn't even cleared an intersection even though its already in 3rd gear. If they moved anywhere near as fast as they sounded im sure they wouldn't catch half as much hate.

NikolaiVolkov Honda's have great intake noise but their exhaust is completely different.....sounds like garbage..........the best sounding 4 bangers are mostly carberated, alfa twin cams, bmw m10, 4age, etc. Then the ford/ Mercedes cosworth engines, bmw s14, and lancia abarth group B 4 cylinders, Honda's are last................
