Title: Sandy Rivers, Kettles of Fish, Boreal Forest, and Kipling Hydroelectric Generating Station, Mattagami River Area, Ontario, Canada
Channel: Rambles With Robin and Ruby.
RU-vid description: S22E14: Kipling Road
Video recorded June 14 and 15, 2022.
Season 22, episode 14 (S22E14)
Description: In this Rambles with Robin and Ruby video, we drive farther north in Ontario, from the town of Kapuskasing to the end of the summer road, at the Kipling hydro electric generating station, located on the Mattagami River. All of this road passes through boreal forest. The road ends within the ecotone between the James Bay lowland ecozone and the boreal forest ecotone. Along the drive, we see:
A) how the boreal forest composition changes when the geological substrate changes;
B) how geology influences the location of a long segment of the road;
C) some small kettle lakes that were created by geological processes at the end of the ice age; and
D) some boreal forest plants.
This area lies within the traditional homelands of Moose Cree First Nation, within the area of Treaty #9.
Music, in order of play:
A) Reborn by Elad Perez (Artlist.io);
B) Spring by Itay Kashti (Artlist.io);
C) For Kathy by Jamie Rutherford (Artlist.io);
D) Gray North by Wildflower (Artlist.io).
