Even if you think it is safe in the cockpit area, you should always be wearing a safety harness in the open ocean. Especially since you are sailing solo. May you always have fair winds and following seas.

Brilliant view of that sunrise! Loved your camping story … my wife and I had a similar experience when we had our first canoe camping adventure … once that first portage is behind you the experience becomes magical. Very interesting to see the ship alert system in action and how about her WR salute … very cool. Thanks for the self steering top tip … well described. Speaking of the Mk lll, my OCD gets triggered every time I see those two shackles on the control arms … why are they hooked on differently? Probably just me but one of them could do with being repositioned. Hold fast! ⛵️🇨🇦⚓️😄

Just beautiful. It's as though you, your ship and the environment are becoming as one. Whats the range of positive stability for the Waverover? I notice that the class 5.8 has a range of positive figure of 140 degrees which is excellent. The Contessa 26 also had a very high number which I cant recall and likewise the contessa 32. Was self righting test done on Waverover? Are you running radar detector like the CARD?
@RoversAdventure
@RoversAdventure День назад
About 130 degrees. But in a dynamic situation such as wind and seas this isn't really that important of a metric.
@54Berra
@54Berra День назад
It is hard to imagine a better boat than yours for solo ocean sailing. If anything at all could improve I guess it would be insulation. Maybe possible to build a similar boat using 7 cm divinycell board instead of marine plywood? About this off-grid stuff I feel that the real reason you can be off-grid at all is actually the grid. Your boat is built and in most details consists of material imported to you from the grid. The boat is an idustrial product put together by you and I feel you have made a beautiful job doping that. I love your videos. Many thanks!!
@RoversAdventure
@RoversAdventure День назад
The boat could easily be built of other materials. We spoke of that during the planning phase of the design but discounted it due to the cost. The design was to be accessible to builders of limited means.

You should switch to relative motion, not real. Relative gives what you see in real life if you are moving. If the function is possible with AIS, though.

You've clearly done your homework on nutrition, perfect strategy for sustaining yourself during a passage where mealtimes might be irregular for whatever reason. Fish oils, tallow, eggs...this squares with everything I've learned too. If you ever get the chance, please speak on your previous experience with a metal boat and why you chose to go with plywood for this build. Because as with nutrition, it seems you've put a lot of consideration into the whole thing and I'd like to follow the paths of your reasoning. I myself would like to build (something sized more for a couple to spend whole seasons on), but am still up in the air about steel vs plywood. I keep circling back to a Brent boat in my thinking, or a larger Wave Rover style if one is on the horizon.
