Would have loved to see Tony Viana in the flesh, made me fall in love with E28 ///M5, such a shame I was only 4yrs when racing was at its peak, May his wonderful soul continue resting in peace
Thanks Phillip, I am glad you enjoyed it as much I do. I have quite a few more videos, but mainly of the races in South Africa of the Wesbank Modified and Stannic Group N era. I am in the painfully slow process of organising all my old videos and storing the content on DVD. I started video taping all these when I was about 11 or 12 years old. In due corse I will upload more to RU-vid. It is our South African racing heritage and it should be shared!
@@nevillepretorius8948 Yes, I know, you have actually shown me your beautiful white 131 Racing at Zwartkops a few years ago. You own a very special piece of motorsport and FIAT history there. Regards. Jacques
love the vid, would love to see a shot of the engine bay. From memory Jim Richards Group C 635CSi ran the M88 and was putting out a reportedly 495hp (369kw) so not much above the triple webered car. Again, great vid!
Tony Viana was one the best drivers we had. He used to drive those BMW's with flair around the race circuits. He did not die of cancer in 1993, but was brutally murdered with his whole family in 2011 by his gardener and domestic worker's son.
Hi Pierre. No that was not the same Tony Viana, I also took note of the story in the press. Tony Viana the racer in this video did in fact die of cancer in 1993. That is why he disappeared from the scene at that point.
