​@@agent47djaccount The Gripen is perfectly fine where it is. Thrust vectoring is only good in dogfights really, something that doesn't happen that often given the prevalence of missiles that can reach out and ruin your day from dozens of kilometres away. Changing direction really quickly won't stop the missile slamming into you or coming close enough to pepper you with shrapnel. It's cool to imagine a draken 2 but there's nothing useful it can do that the Gripen can't do better so it's just a waste of money coming right out of the average Joe's pockets

Thrust vectoring wouldn’t do much. What the darken does relies on its instability and it can’t keep or hold it in any capacity. It’s a fancy rather primitive and in my opinion a better cobra. A sudden and quick slowdown to get your opponent to overshoot. I personally love the idea of some super maneuverable air craft that can do some crazy 20G+ pulls that are remote controlled but those maneuvers will realistically not be all that effective compared to having a faster or more electronically superior plane.

Many old jets were faster than the Hornet. It's not surprising by any means. It also doesn't make those old junks better than a Hornet.

​@@LeadblastWell atleast they can escape from it with pure speed. Just put the Hammer down and let other fighters do the job. But maybe even with a good Pilot a Draken could win against a F18

@@river_salmon i mean yes sure, that was the MiG-21BiS which is Gen 3+. Previous MiG-21 variant can't do it tho

@@HappiKarafuru yup, tho it must've had a horrible impact on the plane structure. Btw MiG-21BIS isn't even it's prime modification, there's also some Migs with a reworked structure, modern avionics and armament, they're called MiG-21 Lancer and MiG-21-93. Basically 4th gen Fishbeds.

go to the F11 museum in Sweden and you may talk to a bad ass Draken flygförare ('pilot') who will tell you from first hand experience, pointing at the Draken in the museum hall. He was very nice and extremley knowledgeable on his Draken. Free entry at least once a day and the museum is full of veterans.
