Saab 35FS In War Thunder : A Basic Review 

My apologies - The Snailgod changed the name of this aircraft right after I was done producing the review - its now called the Saab-35FS.

I thought F16/Mig29 where now BR12 which means this 10.7 would never face those planes.

Love your different take to plane reviews than other people feel like I’m actually learning stuff about the plane keep up the good work

i bought the Saab 35fs right away, after playing 50 matches (before new br changes, f-16 and mig-29 were at 11.7) , i only got fully up-tiered 2 times, and this thing, was and still is a BEAST. feel free to argue in the replies, i think the Saab 35fs is probably one of the top 5 planes in the game (relative to top tier br)

She no longer is called J35XS btw (X standing for Export and S for Suomi (meaning Finnish), there wouldn't be a - (read dash) either way) but is called Saab 35FS now, just Gaijin things.

On the looking like a Kite. The Swedish name for Kite is Drake. It can be translated to literally mean The Kite. It means both Dragon and Kite. So that was surely intentional naming. (Viggen also has this double meaning of a name)

I’ve been waiting for this review for pretty unique reason. My grandfather was an engineer at SAAB on the Sk60 and J35. Specifically, he worked on the later models. From what I know, my grandfather had a large part in the innovations of the Finnish Draken program. The details are shaky on what he actually did at SAAB (he passed away 4 years ago and never explained much about it to me as a kid), but I do know he had a big part in selling the j35 the Finns. I haven’t bought it yet in game (bc its 70 freaking dollars). But thanks for making a really cool review on such a fascinating aircraft .

Great review as always !!. By the way , I want to share you something that never happened to me after years playing WT. I opened 5 apex predators chests , surprisingly got a coupon for the F7F-3 , honestly I was just interested in the camo for the J-7D. I redeemed the vehicle coupon , and the proceeded to disassemble the camos that I got in order to get a chance to unlock the J-7D one .I got a coupon for the heavy tank no 6 . I believe there must be a bug , the probabilities are way to slim . Cheers mate

Gonna have to agree with expert/ace pilots for any real dogfighting. Things is like a prenerf Cl13b Mk6 and you will spend the entirety of the game blacked out if you don't

nice vid Tim love the detail you go into for the history of these vehicles. Also its a real shame that the 2 good j35's are premium I used the J35A to grind out rank 5 and up for Sweden/Finland so i have no reason to buy the 35FS its a real shame that a high performance draken is 100$ so not worth it for a single jet

It should also be noted that trying to pull past stall speed often causes the plane to enter an unrecoverable flat spin

my kd in this thing is frankly just funny; it's exceptionally strong in downtiers and still workable in uptiers. couple bits of advice: 1) only take flares. it dumps 2 cm at a time, so if you take f+c, you only get 3 drops. you're really gonna miss those extra drops when you need them, so take flares to double it to 6 and just do some good prep work against radar missiles. 2) do not fire the missiles beyond 3km unless you *know* you can hit the shot. the 9J has very low range and its motor won't be able to carry it very far in anything but the most ideal circumstances. 3) it was touched on in the video, but maneuvering in the drakens is never a question of how hard you *can* turn, but rather how hard you *should* turn. you can out-turn basically whatever you want in most speed ranges, so the real decision making goes into how much of that turning you want to use at the cost of your speed. however, if you do run out of speed, you'll still be golden if your opponent is also slow and no one else is around to interfere. the draken can hang with biplanes in the low speed maneuvering space, and that's only a slight exaggeration. overall, very fun plane, very funny against new premium players with low situational awareness and knowledge, recommended for players who at least know their way around the br range.

The fuel criticism towards this plane feels unwarranted to, At max fuel you have more than enough for nearly all engagements and only really on EC maps would you have to be conscious of your fuel usage.

After beeing german 11.3 aur i bought it and whit expirience it is absoulute great to fly and i also want to add that when used correctly the flares are enough for one match

No longer has to fight f16s but still gotta worry about fighting f14s in an up tier

You should have edited some of the stuff with this video especially with the combat tactics part. At 10.7 now after the BR changes that just happened this thing is insane since you NEVER fight F-14s.

What skins are available for this? I think they changed the name to "SAAB 35FS" recently. Really wish they give this the Sparrow missiles it had, Swedish variant had proximity fuses so would actually be useful in a head on. Great vid though, love your work.

No point being maneuverable if you don't know how to dogfight, yestarday absolutely demolished a XS in a extended dogfight in a A5

I learned this plane back when it had tracers (fuck you gajin lots of other countries don't use them either but still have them) so i know how to aim the guns pretty good. I feel bad for the peeps who are trying to learn it now. The J35D still takes out the trash and does even better now at 10.3

it's pretty strange to ask of HUD from plane designed in 1950's but aside of that top video and really sad this draken has no R-13s those would be good for mid range engagements

I have budget of 100bucks a month for games (w/e games) a month. i did treat myself last month, at my birthday. I've owned it for like 3 weeks. I'm about to reach 500kills in roughly 370 matches., iirc. i. love. this. aircraft. also: did you mention premium repair costs, Silverlions and RP Modifier as a bonus? thing costs like 6k to repair, max and has insane (obviously. its gajin) modifiers. ive "accidently" almost ground out the swedesm before viggen i had like up to the JsomethingSomething (tunnan?)

Personally I think it’s not worth it, it’s cockpit is copy paste from the j35D and so is it’s paint. Just get the j35D.
