He is right that once you experience a Saab, your impression changes. It's a fever. A couple years ago I needed a cheap car, quickly. I found a '95 Saab 900S convertible in my price range. I bought it. Since then, I've bought two more--a '00 9-3 base and a '01 9-3 SE. Now I have what I call a Swedish full house: 3 Saabs and 2 Volvos. Love.

My mother personally have never liked Saabs, my dad was the one buying her the cars. A few broke often and a few were the most reliable car ever, hehe. She doesn't talk positive things about them, but, the one thing that she loves about them is how damn comfortable they are to drive.

Wonderful. I have a 2005 9-3 Aero with factory Hirsch Stage 2 upgrade; ecu, injectors, downpipe, full stainless exhaust, intercooler. It makes 252hp and 380Nm and is ridiculously fast. It’s now on 157k but runs like clockwork. A wonderful car.

I own this exact year and model, had it high-end tuned, not even all they way, got new shocks, rotors, tires and breaks. All aluminum exhaust and expanded intake. It’s a rocket. It’s an Audi killer. Makes them really, really mad, muscle cars too. Fits me like an iron man suit. I LOVE IT. SAAB FOR LIFE.

Back in the day people kept crashing into my dad's Saab 99 while it was parked or stopped at lights etc, and each time the other cars were seriously damaged or written off, but the Saab hardly suffered a scratch. Then he explained it to me "when you have an accident with a Saab, the 'crumple zone' is the other vehicle 😄

I almost bought a Saab once. It was on the showroom floor all loaded with every option and trinket they sold. I told dealer I wanted the car but wasn't willing to pay for the trinkets. As it was at the end of the month, they were anxious for the sale. I had a couple things that needed adjustment after test drive so I'd pick it up in a couple days. Dealer called next day and said the sales manager wouldn't accept the deal, take they to court if I wanted the car that bad. I figured getting service after all this would not be easy, so I didn't get a Saab. I think I bought a grey market E30 BMW 323 before BMW USA started selling them with 6 cyl in US.

Saab always a misunderstood and underrated brand here in England. Shame because they made damn good cars. Tristan seems like a really sound bloke, excellent racing team mate. His chat about taking it easy reminded me of driving very long and heavy vehicles (double decker coaches), every braking and turning point as crucial as when sending a go kart round track. It’s all driving. Smooth is fast but slow is a great way to perfect your smoothness. Looking forward to more chats with Tristan. Thanks for taking us along on the ride 👍🏻

Also the 9000 Aero was a serious beast for a touring car... in the mid 70's SAAB lit up the world with a 4cyl Turbo that was way ahead of it's time... GM ruined SAAB by not see what the brand was at it's core. SAAB had brilliant 4cyl tech, but GM thought they could not sell a 4 cyl to Americans, but then they just didn't get it... they forced that questionable V6 into the 900, then the 900 and then the next gen cars... the engine was too heavy for the frame and servicing was a bitch....

Nice one for bringing one of the nicest brands ever, GM just got very pissed of when they saw the last 9-5 because to be honest the insignia just looks light years away. It was mentioned that they went to a detail that very few even dare to go there, but the problem was GM property and they had to justify some absurd costs, especially when the group had financial problems and plus in a recovery situation wanting some solid results which didn't happen. A real shame they didn't find a proper investor like Volvo did, I reckon it would be better in nowadays. However they failed with Opel again, which is PSA so I wonder if that strategy was really good 🤔. They drowned completely in Europe and went back to their home country.

End of the nineties I did haded a SAAB 9000 Aero (2,3l, 4 Zylinder, DI-fire-candle-system-100 000 Volt, liga-engine, 16 Valve, air-front-pressure-Turboloader 1,5 Bar, with overbust 1,8 bar. From Mitsubishi, water-cooler-ceramik loader, 225 hp). All was original. I gone a competion with a Porsche turbo 3.6 (6 Zylinder-Boxer-engine, front-air-pressure-turbo loader, 360hp), on the german Highway. My SAAB was in all speed Situations faster than the Porsche. The top speed (5,600 fullturns, 255 km/h) was with a electronic-limiter by my SAAB borded.

So his statement of there only being one Saab master technician in the Netherlands isn't true, I personally know 4 master technicians in my region. Only a few if these master technicians actually work on Saabs anymore, because the market isn't there anymore. @@Tristan.R.J.M haha, yea I was born a few months after Kyro Verstraeten died. I think there would be more then 8, but only 8 working at a saab specific garage would make sense. I myself bought a Triumph, which has nearly the same engine as first gen Saab 99, just a 1998cc version of the 1849cc.

Big fan of Saabs in general. :D I also have a 2000 9-5 i use for trackdays now, it was my first car so don't want to get rid of it, i really care for it tbh, special place in my heart since I've always loved cars and it was my first one. Okay now that you have shown some interest in Saab... If you want you can have a drive in my 1997 Saab 9000 Anniversary (2.0 but tuned to ~220hp) It got Bilstein dampers and H&R springs and Goodyear eagle F1 tires. It is definitely not the fastest car, but it is fun and makes loud turbo noises :D Hit me up if you are interested ;)

One of my life regrets is that I was not able to get the 9-3 when I was getting the car. I love my C70, but still. That was probably the last chance to really do it at a realistic time... I have considered getting the 9-5NG recently, but... It was great when it came out, but by now, I need things like adaptive cruise control - which, if I am not mistaken, they managed to put in a grand total of 17 cars... Maybe one day I'll get a 900 turbo... By the way, the 9-3NG was based on Vectra, the 9-5NG is Insignia base. Also, between GM and NEVS, it was briefly owned by Spijker. They are actually who brought out 9-5NG, but GM was being difficult. If they weren't, Saab could have done a Volvo... PS. Rituals... Nice.

Freevalve is a koenigsegg product. Built on the 9.5 2.3l. Saab might have helped cvk but it is a koenigsegg product. koenigsegg was interesting in buying Saab. But spyjer got it but I think spyjer never bought it. And the it went bankrupt. Cvk has been taking of wanting to buy Saab. But nevs bought all and are building some kind of 9-3 electronic for chine but never seen one or heard anything about after neves bought the leftover of Saab. Saab was drained of money by gm is not interly true. They sold (had to give) technology to GM so Saab went bad in business. But Saab went so far out the box. They did there on GPS system after they were given GM GPS etc etc. The "new" 9.5 is an Insignia but Saab thought it would do with a longer wheel base and wider track . And a revised rear suspension set up (really a cost saving thing to do). GM tried give Saab Opel cars and told Saab to dress them to not look like Opel. So Saab fell on its own.
