You can calculate the volume of the original intercooler versus the EVO...The difference in volumen will be your efficiency gain. Another data I measure was the intake temp with the original versus the one with the uppgrade. To uppgrade my 2.0 I purchase another original intercooler, I modified the power steering cooling line ( I deleted all the front line and add a radiator) and put the extra interccoler connected in tandem with the original. I calculate the sum of the 2 interccolers and they exceeds the dO88 intercooler volume. Of course was a lot more work then just replacing by an EVO one...Soldering the power steering line was a nightmare cause I don't have means to solder those lines...

Finished with the motor and am about to reinstall onto the car with the Evo intercooler from my Saab 9-3 Linear and you beat me to it!!!!!!! Ordered my DO88 turbo pipe and coolant lines. BTW, I am interested. Wanted to let the one in my Linear stay in there, so hit me up!!!!!!
I know this is a year old buddy, But I did a comparison on the intercooler cores on the evo 8 (yours) the do88, and the standard factory fitted one. All measurements in cm, then cubic cm. Standard 64.5 x 41.5 x 3.4 = 9638 Do88 ............................ = 13770 Evo8 ........50 x 32 x 9 = 14400 The EVO8 clearly has a larger core volume than the ridiculously overpriced do88. Just saying.
Did the same thing but messed up because that a/c line got to close to my serpentine belt and wore it so no more a/c but if you can’t find me that line at a junkyard and ship to me because there is no 2.8s at my local yards I’ll appreciate it!
Yeah that AC line gets real close to the serpentine belt once the condenser is pushed back. Unfortunately the junk yards near me haven't had a v6 saab in awhile. Next time they do I'll keep you in mind!
Ceramic coated*, not powder coated pipes, the difference is important in this engine bay lol. My guess is the change youre feeling on the throttle response is due to the Evo intercooler cooling the air down quicker and more efficiently, combined with the piping remaining cool due to the ceramic coating. The ECU will recognize the lower IATs, and take full advantage. Not to mention the air coming in is going to have a much nicer pathway with the smooth do88 pipes, leading to more air being moved overall and the smoother linearity to the powerband. Overall, both modifications work in perfect harmony to give you the better driving feel youre getting. Excellent work on the Evo intercooler, thats probably the cleanest install of one of those I've ever seen. One last thing, you're doing your new IC and pipes a disservice by not putting a catch can on the car; over time your new ic and pipes will get gummed up with oil blowby from the front valve cover. If you would like, I can give you very detailed instructions on how to install a catch can, and could even do a little collab if you wanted to do a video about it (granted it would have to be virtual). -Zavier
I sometimes accidentally use powdercoat and ceramic coat interchangeably, so thank you for the clarification Zavier! Catch can, external engine oil cooler, uppgraded intercooler, ceramic coated exhaust manifold and downpipe, upgradded downpipe and intake are the best mods anyone with a turbo engine car could for best performance, Best one intercooler mod must be an air to water one.
