Hey all! In this video I show how I put together a front McPherson Strut for my 2003 SAAB 9-3 (9440). I am a SAAB enthusiast and have enjoyed this 93 for 7+ years. My car has only had 1 previous owner so I'm doing my best to keep this on the road. I am camera shy so I do blur my face from the video!
The reason I use timber, is so my fingers aren't in/around the spring as I tighten the clamps!

Parts:
Bilstein B4 Strut + Bump-stop included.
Springs OEM
Protective sleeve (blue part that sits on the btm of the spring)
Bearing - Rotating bit of plastic (Black)
Bearing Support (Silver lid that goes on top)
Bellows - Protects the strut from dirt/grime.

Several videos on YT for Saab 9-2 strut replacement, I watched yours to see if you had figured out where that washer goes, you put it on top of the bearing with the nut, which is what I assume as well to be the right place. The alternative being under the bearing, which interestingly enough the washer seats perfectly there, so that's why I was wondering if the top was correct or not. Either way, I'm doing the job today, and I'm putting it on top.

Thanks for the message, yeah I did a bit of research and I couldn’t find anywhere that states which side it goes. I’ve had it on the car and had no weird noises and if anything my suspension creeks from the worn bushing is gone. Hopefully, you choose the right way whichever it is 😅 good luck buddy!
