In my 2011 aero with green screen, when I press CONFIG I have options coming on for Vehicle settings ( program light, honk, parking sensor features etc) as well as enable disable different modes in Sport mode, climate and comfort features etc. those are selectable with the center knob and clickable with the center SELECT button. Do these work after the swap? thank you for your fantastic videos!
Please let us know what screen size is that? I'm a bit confused, some insignia A Android units are described as 8``, some as 7``, and some as 9 on Aliexpress.
I Have the 2011 9-5 Aero Turbo 6 xwd with Green Screen, What about the settings for the car like, comfort control, sport mode, and personalized settings Thanks in advanced
So the comfort settings are not accessible any more, but in my opinion they were pointless. Sport mode is another thing entirely. Having never owned a Turbo 6, I'm not aware of how Sport mode is activated. If sport mode is ONLY accessible through the nav unit, it would be a sin to change out the unit for an Android unit. I assume that sport mode is an automatic transmission car function
Excellent video on the PX5. I am ready to pull the trigger, though I am going to a car radio specialist in business for 40 years already to do the install for me. It all looks so good. ONe thing I am unclear on however, is where the system is getting the internet connection from? Are you plugging in an IPhone to the USB port for that or ? Also, did you use the PX5 antenna for the radio and GPS, ,or how does that work?
@@SaabUnleashed Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking about using the ApplePie Mini Dongle which supports a data SIM card for Internet. Does the PX5 have internal GPS, or does it hook up to the Saab GPS antenna? [sorry for so many questions, I am trying to avoid mistakes based on assumptions I could be making]
@@SaabUnleashed Thanks for the info. That's great if it's all in one set then. So accordding to what You're saying, I'd need to take the green radio out, connect px5/6 unit, mount the screen to its place and voila. The only thing that won't work are the radio buttons, am I missing something? Are there any downsides? I also planned to install bc innovate Vline unit, but it operates on the original LCD panel (which I don't have), and the price is much higher too, so if the android panel does its job, it seems to be a much better solution.
Hello. Please I need your assistance. I have GMC Yokun, Denali 2013 and tried to install aftermarket screen. But store told me that no screen is suitable for such a car, because the plugs are not compatable ( size) different. And must cut and join wires manually. Which I consider not safe. Do your good self have a solution. Please 🙏
Nice job, I bought the unit from AliExpress and it's sat in a box as I get up the necessary bottle to undertake the work. Would be interested to know how hard it is to fit the rear camera, does that come in the standard box, I haven't checked. Did you have to cut off lots of plastic behind to fit everything, I've heard that you do have to. Cheers, Steve in Bristol
For the reverse cam you need to release the light bar as the cable for the cam will go through the same hole as the light bar wires. Then I just sanded a tiny round hole off the inner edge of the botton of the light bar to allow the wire to fit between the light bar and the metal car. The cam is then screwed to the bottom of the light bar
Does it have integrated DAB? - if so what about antennae? Also, does it (seamlessly) integrate with the car mic and speakers for phone calls when a phone is hooked up with Bluetooth?
@@SaabUnleashed Adaptor for the dab itself (i.e. not intergrated) or just for the antenna? - any links please. Microphone - that seems a big negative vs the OEM head unit...
@@slangking1 Any aftermarket head unit will need an aftermarket mic. Ofcourse, if you can trace the factory mic termination point and solder a 3.5mm jack onto it, you can use it with this. Remember, this was designed for an Insignia and we're repurposing it for this car. Many owners are using this one. Regarding DAB - watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zWrjBVZ75sM.html
@@SaabUnleashed Got you, thanks. On the mic front (existing i fyou can pick up on it or aftermarket) what is the connection interface type into the PX5 ?
Hello I'm planning to do the same in my 95 Ng vector, have question related to speaker's, is your car equipped with rear boot shelf speakers? as mine isn't and I would like to add them but the question is that android amp have enough power or it will be better to add 2 channel amp?
@@SaabUnleashed Yeah I'm actually trying to install the one that you have in your link. I got most of the old radio out I was just wondering how you go about mounting the screen. And also the screen had like a MicroSD card attached to it. I will wait and see what you do on your video when you release it.
Because the head unit was designed for the Opel Insigina and whilst most of the GM CANbus network is identical with the 9-5NG (along with the rest of the car) the buttons on the dash are not the same as the insignia. As a result, they don't work as the canbus decoder does not recognise button pushes from this panel, so you cannot program the buttons for features.
The 2003 uses any standard double-din head unit so just choose on that has the features you want. Wiring it in is slightly more complex, but here's an awesome guide saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=84
@@SaabUnleashed thanks bro! Is there any head unit you recommend? I want android head unit. I'm not sure what's the difference with android auto vs android head unit tho.
@@kingkong2598 An android head unit is a computer in your car. It's like a tablet in that you install all the apps you want, like music and navigation and the whole thing works independently of your phone. The unit in this video is Android. Android Auto is software that offers remote access to your Android phone. That means that you plug your phone in (or connect it wirelessly on some head units) and the compatible navigation and music apps installed on your phone will be made available on the head unit. Obviously, this means that it is reliant on your phone. Just depends what you want. Have a look at this video on my channel to help you choose a radio ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IpvGRm4q_Lc.html
@@SaabUnleashed thanks man!!!!!!! I love to choose android head unit since it supports many features. Would it be easy to install on my 2003 saab 9-5? Do you have any content that you install android head unit on your saab?
Cuz yesterday I contacted Crutchfield customer service and they said they strongly don't recommend me to switch my head unit due to losing some features. I don't get it tho. 😕
