I've recieved a lot of questions about the blow off on the Saab. Here's a compilation of all I've got left of this wonderful blow off surge on my very first 9-5.
Just replace your standard air filter for an open air filter and that is it!! Diesel owners cannot get this sound so don't even try it. You opted for economy!
saabs have a recirculating bov and therefore there are no tjo tjo, not even i you replace the air filter to a open air. you have to get a open blow off valve.
@@eriknilsson8102 Umm, I just put a Biltmema Sport air filter on my 9.5 2.3t yesterday, sound exactly like this, on my otherwise 100% stock, untouched engine. All that is changed is a new turbo, because the old one blew the fuck up a couple years ago. But the new one is the same as stock
Haha, thanks for the heads up. It's a doubtful translation of the swedish word "kvittra" which many swedes use uploading their videos of the phenomenon, hence its a good keyword for the video. I will add flutter too. ;)
@@carterna6935 pretty sure you make a cover plate for the recirc valve or if you have a blow off valve. Just take it off and trace it around some sheet metal or something similar and cut it out and put it in between the valve like a gasket. It forces the air to push back to the turbo and "stutututu"
How to break your turbo: 1. Make it go stututu in whatever way you want. 2. Done. How to make your turbo sound mean AF: 1. Put on a blowoff valve. 2. Done.
@@nicklasveva Saab 99 and 900 Turbos, all original Turbo Buicks like the Buick GNX, all Citroens and Peugeots with Turbo engines in the 80s and 90s, Volvo 240 Turbos, 2.3 Turbo Foxbodys and many more didn't come with blow off or diverter valves from factory. I have a Citroen XM that came without a diverter valve from factory, was remapped at about 140'000km and is now at 330'000km, and while it did blow a headgasket before, its still on its first turbo.
