Miss SAAB. Owned 2 900s and 2 99s and put many, many miles on each. Unfortunately its become harder and harder to find one that hasn't been trashed, especially in my part of the USA. If you find a decent 99 for example they are VERY expensive now. Recently saw a low miles 99 Turbo for sale back east in the $40K range.

I'll keep looking for a good 99 or 900 I can afford. My last 900s (82) had about 140,000 when the transmission started to go (automatic) due to a bad after market muffler that caused a chain of events that lead to the trans overheating. The autoboxes are one weak spot in the 99/900. Otherwise that 900 never leaked or used oil and never gave us any other trouble. Lots of high speed driving too.

Tack ska du ha! Thanks so much for the video!!! I had 5Saab 900 and I miss them so much! Now I am only left with my Saab 96 from 1967. But still turning my head when I hear the unik sound from a Saab 900 Turbo.

I love Saab's and have owned MANY over my 22 years of driving. Though I have never been in an accident in one, I always was under the impression that the 9000 CSE was one of the safest cars on the road. But watching the head on test with the 9000 an the NG 900, the 9000 really got the short end of the stick. I have seen the test where 2 9-5's are crash tested the same way and if I had never seen it I'd have said that the 9000 is equally as safe but after seeing the NG 900 hit the 9000 and comparing it to when the 2 9-5's do te same thing, I'm amazed that the 9-5's blow the 9000 out of the water as far as safety goes. the 9-5's driver windows, didn't even break nor did the roof/drivers door deform. The 9000's roof, door, passenger window and dashboard were all mangled and pushed back into the drivers space which is bad bad bad...After the same test, the 9-5's door probably could have been opened and the driver most likely could have walked away. With the 9000's driver's head having had been forced towards the drivers door window and the dash being pushed back into the driver by at least a foot, not only do I doubt that the driver could walk away but they'd need the jaws of life to cut them out of the car. That's a bad result since you never know if the car will catch fire from a crash. If it does, the last place I'd want to be would be in the drivers seat without being abe to open the door due to it being crushed and deformed by the crash. I believe that these half of the front end on the other cars drivers side half is at a speed of 40mph... imagine the result of a 65mph crash like that in a 9000.. Yikes! I never talk bad about Saab's and especially the 9000 CSE since I believe that the aero model was one of the best cars I have ever owned but after watching this, for the first time ever the 9000 looks like it may be a bad decision to put any trust in when it comes to crash safety

It's probably because the frame for the 9000 isn't Saab's , but from another car manufacturer.

You miss the fact that safety has evolved over the years. Half overlap tests were a new way to test. NG900 was new in 1994. It developed into 9-3 from 1998 which was refined and stronger.

@@-m.d.n-9019 Not frame, but platform (bottom chassis), which it shared with Fiat Chroma and Lancia Thema. The SAAB was much safer.

@@tomhummel2641 dang. I wish it was completely Saab , so the crash test would have been better.

The video start like " is clear that Saab met all the requirements of the authorities in an accident, but this is only the starting point" Saab's job is to protect people from safety. This is called "Real life safety"
