You saved the day! I had the lock button set and the remote wouldn't work. I tried everything to reprogram the remote, according to other RU-vid instructions. Finally, you showed me how to get it out of lock mode, and voila! It worked! I was really dismayed, sleeping last night without being able to put it in zero gravity for my knee that hurt so much. Now I see the value of having an adjustable bed when you are hurting! Thank you for your video. I LOVE MY SAATVA BED AND ADJUSTABLE BASE! I can't live without it!

very important information about the weight of the product. great presentation in general. Thanks. Would love to hear from people who own. this especially if they are sleeping on the Saatva Classic with innersprings -- they tell me it works but it's hard to believe . . . . .it would seem like the springs would splay everywhere or crimp up. I've been wanting to buy but still in disbelief that the innerspring won't fall apart on tis base. Anyone?

I got a king size Lineal base and Saatva Luxury Firm mattress about a month and a half ago, before seeing your great video. The base was the best purchase I have ever made (maybe I exaggerate a little) and I absolutely love and am thrilled with it. However I am disappointed in the mattress. It works perfectly fine with the base and is now "bendy" enough to fit the base just fine. The base fits nicely in my four poster canopy bed and is beautiful and elegant. The base that I received has a different fabric which is more of a gray upholstery fabric and looks very nice. 100% please with the Lineal Base. The luxury firm mattress is just to firm and I wake up with total body pain every morning. Probably going to give it another week with the topper that Saatva sent to me and if that doesn't solve the firmness problem will switch the mattress for a Plush Soft or maybe a Zenhaven. Thanks for the video, I did learn that I don't have to hold the buttons continuously to get to the saved positions. Great video.

Hi Mona -- Thanks so much for your kind words, and for sharing your personal experience with these products! I am very glad to hear that the Lineal base has worked out so well for you. In terms of selecting the right mattress for you, it sounds like you're on the right track. Just as an FYI, we've also produced in-depth video reviews of the Saatva, Zenhaven, and many other mattresses. Each of our video reviews focuses on explaining which type of sleepers are going to be the best match for that mattress, so you may find these helpful should the topper not work out for you. Likewise, we also have a sophisticated mattress match quiz on our site that can help quickly narrow the universe of choices for you and will also enable you to see your match score for any given mattress (simply by finding that mattress on our site after having taken the quiz). You can find the match quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ I hope that's helpful.

Mona Moon, Did you end up getting the Plush Soft, or did the Luxury Firm work well for you with the mattress topper. My husband and I both are side sleepers, 200LB each. We want to get the king. And if the mattress is awesome, we will get it, and the base (as a surprise for my hubby-he'll know when he comes home and sees it. But for now, he is on the road, for work, so I'm the one testing out mattresses. UGH)

Thanks for the excellent video, as well as for replying thoroughly to questions in the comments section where your additional info has been very helpful. I just got my adjustable base and luxury firm mattress. They now use a metal foot retainer instead of two plastic corner retainers. The remote is different from this video. The instructions for the Zero Gravity button says, "Press to adjust the base to the factory default ZG position. To reprogram, adjust the base, massage, and underbed light to the desired position . . ." What does that even mean with regard to adjusting the base? Adjusting it to what? And why would you adjust the light? There aren't even any instructions on the underbed light as to adjustability. I know you don't have this remote, but if any of your viewers do, please help me figure this out. It says this on some of the other buttons, too.
@goodbed
@goodbed 3 года назад
Hi -- thanks for the comment. Typically, those buttons are set to what the manufacturer thinks is the idea position for (for example) Zero G, TV or reading, anti-snore, etc. Usually (and it sounds like this is the case here) those buttons can be reprogrammed by the user, so you can save "custom" settings. For example, maybe you try the factory Zero G setting but don't love it, so you adjust the head a little higher, or the foot a little lower. You would then follow the instructions to reprogram the button, which effectively saves your custom position, so next time you hit that button, the bed would move into that customized position instead of the factory default. I would imagine the underbed lighting is only on or off - I don't believe there's a dimmer on it. Hope that helps!

@@goodbed - Thank you for replying. The underbed light is definitely a questionable thing to say you can adjust. I love the base. I'm having a hard time getting comfortable with the mattress no matter how I adjust the base. Hoping it just needs breaking-in.

Fantastic review man! Thank you for being as thorough as you were! How would you compare this to the Dreamcloud adjustable base?
@goodbed
@goodbed 4 года назад
Hi Nick. Thanks for the comment. We have not tested the DreamCloud adjustable base, but it looks like all of its features are ones that are shared with the Lineal -- a zero gravity mode, USB ports, and a massage/vibrate mode. It comes with a 50-night trial and a 3-year warranty. The Lineal model reviewed here is what we use in our videos when we test mattresses -- so you can see it in action in almost any of our other videos. Hope that's helpful.
@KickNine
@KickNine 4 года назад
GoodBed Thank you for the information! I have discovered this as well since leaving my comment. It also seems that the Saatva adjustable frame has the wall hugging ability, which the Dreamcloud base does not. As well as the lights underneath. So it seems the Lineal bass is the more superior base despite being $400 more. But that wall hugging technology is worth it for me!

Love your videos!!! Wondering if you have any experience with the Nectar bed? Also, (you do not have to answer lol) curious to know what kind of bed you personally own?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi there -- Thanks for your question and kind words! No, we haven't done a formal review of the Nectar mattress yet, however it is on our list. We prioritize our reviews based on interest from our users, so your interest in this review will be noted. FYI, once the Nectar review is published, you'll be able to find it on our site here: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/nectar/ You can also subscribe to our channel to be notified when it comes out. In terms of your other question, you are correct in suspecting that I might not be inclined to answer it, but in case it isn't clear why, the reason is simply that I don't want to inadvertently mislead anyone into buying that mattress. Mattresses are largely about personal fit -- and statistically, it's very unlikely that a person reading this will have the same needs and preferences as me. This usually means that my mattress would not be the best match for them. That said, I've come to learn that this truth can be difficult to accept, and that when a simple answer is available (e.g., this guy knows a lot about mattresses, and he sleeps on _____), it can be very compelling. So, to avoid the possibility of inadvertently mis-guiding anyone (especially since the mattress I sleep on isn't cheap!), I simply try to steer clear of discussing it. I hope that makes sense.

Does a mattress wear out faster by being moved up and down on an adjustable frame?
@LRN97250
@LRN97250 6 лет назад
Thank you for your reviews. Can I put 7" storage containers under this frame?
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi Lisa -- Thanks for your question. TBH I'm not quite sure. As you can see at about 15:14 in the video, there are some places under this frame where a 7" tall container probably would not fit due to cross bars, but there are also plenty of places where it would. " The thing that gives me pause is that the base has moving parts on the underside of it and is not a "zero clearance" design. This means that the movement of those parts does go at least somewhat below the top of the legs. Put differently, by raising it off the ground, the legs provide the added clearance that these parts need when the base is elevated up and down. So for example, you could not elevate this adjustable base if it were on the floor without any legs attached to it. I don't know how much clearance those parts need, but I do know that the shortest leg settings are 6" tall. I somewhat doubt that in the 6" setting, the moving parts come any closer than 3" from the floor, which would mean that in the 10" setting, they would not come closer than 7". But I just can't be sure so would recommend checking with Saatva if this is something that is very important to you. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

Great review! Much appreciated. Would a split king mattress work in the same way that two twin xl mattresses would on this base? Thanks!
@goodbed
@goodbed 3 года назад
Hi Amanda -- Thanks for your question, and kind words. Yes, a split king has roughly the same dimensions as two twin XL mattresses. So it would go on two twin XL bases, which would be very similar to how it would work if you had two twin XL mattresses. The only functional difference of course is that with the split king approach, you would not be able to elevate the foot of the bed independently on each side. I hope that's helpful.

I've been finding all your reviews very helpful. Based on all my research I'm really leaning towards a coil hybrid so I'm most interested in a saatva since my main concerns are firmness and coolness. Two questions in regards to adjustable bases. We are interested in those because I tend to get bronchitis in the winter and when I do, I can only sleep in a reclining position. An adjustable base sure would be nicer than trying to stack a million pillows up. We would be considering a split king which is essentially two twin xls, I believe. 1. How do the mattresses hold up in the folds after being folded many times? Will the mattress "break down" in those folds? 2. How noticeable is the seam between the two twin mattresses? Will we be constantly noticing the division in the mattresses when we roll over?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Crystal -- Thanks for your questions, and I'm very glad to hear that our reviews have been helpful for you. Before I address the questions, I just want to make sure you're aware that only the 11" version of the Saatva mattress is compatible with an adjustable base (not the 14" version). Now, to take your questions in order: * Yes, two Twin XL mattresses side by side are basically the same dimensions as a standard King mattress. * How a mattress holds up after being folded many times is definitely one of the things we consider when we talk about adjustable base compatibility, and it's one of the reasons we don't think of this metric as strictly binary, because some mattresses are technically compatible but will wear faster or in different ways if used on an adjustable base. In terms of how the Saatva will hold up on an adjustable base, there isn't a lot of empirical data on this because it was less than 6 months ago that Saatva re-engineered their 11" model to make it adjustable base friendly (before that it wasn't), so there is limited data available from users on how it does over time on an adjustable base. That said, my expectation -- based on the construction of the mattress (which does actually feature some reinforcements in the middle third of the bed) and the fact that the company is making a big push into adjustable bases -- would be that it would hold up very well on this front. * In terms of the seam, you will probably notice this a little, but how much that bothers you is going to be a matter of personal preference. Based on feedback we hear from others, my guess is that you'll prefer not to sit or lay directly on the seam and that you'll probably notice the seam if your shoulder happens to land right on it when you're moving across the bed, but that otherwise it won't be a problem. Also, if you'll be using the bases on hardwood floors without securing them to a headboard or other piece of furniture, you may want to secure them together in some way (e.g., by tying something around the two adjoining feet at the head and foot of the bed). These bases are quite heavy so shouldn't move very much but this would ensure that they can't slide apart at all. The bases may even have a built-in way of physically connecting together, so you may want to ask the delivery people about this as well (and let us know what you find out!). I hope that helps.

I have a split king and one or the other mattress slides down when head is raised. How do I get a set of retainers for split mattresses.
@goodbed
@goodbed 4 года назад
Hi James -- Thanks for your kind words. And just for the sake of clarity, this isn't "our" product -- we are a 100% independent website that reviews products from all of the major brands and retailers in this category. Re: your question, if you received an adjustable base that did not come with something along these lines, I would contact the retailer from whom you bought it ASAP. That is almost definitely an error. All adjustable bases need to have a way to hold the mattress in place and prevent it from sliding. The most common is a retainer bar at the center of the foot of the bed. Next most common would be something on the corners like the base we show here. Beyond that, the only other solution I've seen is a base whose top surface is velcro-like in order to keep the mattress from sliding. But even this doesn't work for all mattresses (they need to have the right kind of fabric), so even those bases tend to have a retainer option as well. I hope that's helpful.

Thanks for the great info regarding the frame, answered several of my questions. One thing I am still trying to figure out though is can this frame be used with a platform/wood slat bed? I've read other adjustable frames can be used if I remove the legs, do you believe that would work for this one? I'd like to buy the mattress and frame all together at once. Thanks in advance!
@goodbed
@goodbed 3 года назад
Hi Beverly. Thanks for the question. It's a hard one to answer definitively since furniture varies so much. The adjustable base becomes the frame, essentially. So ideally you would want a bed frame where you can drop the adjustable base right in. I do think its POSSIBLE with this model, however, because of the way the motor is situated. With most adjustable bases, the motor hangs down below the frame, but because of the wall hugger feature, the Lineal kind of uses a frame-within-a-frame, so the motor does not need extra space below the bottom of the frame. However, I would absolutely check with someone from Saatva. Here's the customer service number: 1-877-672-2882 Hope that's helpful!

Do you know the thickness of the frame without the legs? Including the mechanism? Also, the video was EXCELLENT and very Informative!
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Thanks Robert! I'm very glad you found this helpful. In terms of your question, when the legs were set to 8", the top of the base was 16" off the ground, so without the legs, the rest of the base is technically 8" thick. That being said, it might be worth noting that you can not use this base without the legs. When the bed is elevated, the mechanism extends down below the top of the legs by several inches. So if you simply unscrewed the legs and put the base on a flat surface, you would not be able to elevate it. I hope that helps.

Great review but with the massage feature you said it was head and foot but on the website it says full body massage. I am really looking for the full body for my back so just want to clarify that it does have that feature.
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi Kristen -- AFAIK, no adjustable bases on the market today offer anything more "full body" than the head + foot massage capabilities that we showed in this video. I think the idea behind that terminology was that since it covers both the top half and the bottom half of the body (and can alternate back and forth between them in various coordinated "wave" patterns), it's "full body." I hope that's helpful.

The only difference is the plastic retainer corners on the Lineal as opposed to the metal retainer bar and mirco-hooks on the S-Cape to eliminate mattress movement. Am I correct in my assumption?

@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Nancy -- Thanks for your question. On the face of it, it seems possible that that there could be a lot of similarities, since the Lineal base is indeed manufactured by Leggett & Platt. That said, I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with the full feature set of the S-Cape 2.0 to clarify the full extent of the similarities or differences that exist between these two products. When/if we do a similar overview for the L&P bases, I'll be in a much better position to answer this. Sorry I can't be of more help on this question in the meantime.

I need to know if this base will fit in my frame. (Is this the current model?) 2. Please describe the feel of the "massage" feature. Is it actually just vibrations? Thanks.

@goodbed Год назад
Thanks Karen! Re: the exact dimensions, beyond noting that the platform on our base is consistently a good fit for a queen size mattress (making it roughly 60"x80", as one would expect), we didn't take precise exterior measurements, so your best bet is to go to the company for that information. Re: the massage, like all adjustable bases, this feature is based on vibrations (as we showed in the video). So, one could certainly describe the feel of it that way. IMHO, the word "massage" tends to oversell this feature a bit, since It certainly is nothing like having a human knead your back. However, describing it as merely "vibrations" likewise may undersell it a bit -- the sensation created by the vibrating motors is quite relaxing, and the "wave" feature on this base definitely enhances this sensation. I hope that's helpful.

Would it not be best to have a foam mattress with an adjustable bed?. I would think it would contour better.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
+john the great Thanks for your question. Most all foam or latex mattresses do tend to conform very well to an adjustable base. However, I have also seen many innerspring mattresses that contour just as well. So, if one of those innerspring mattresses were a better match for you on other fronts, I wouldn't shy away from it. Hope that helps.

What kind of "massage' is it? Is it just a vibration at different speeds? What do you think of it?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Barbie -- Yes, it is vibration at different speeds coming from two different motors (one under your back and one under your legs). The two motors can be operated separately, together, or in "wave" mode where they alternate back and forth. You can see more discussion of this at 6:46 in the video. In terms of what I think about it, I personally think it feels nice. All adjustable bases that offer "massage" capability use vibrating motors of some kind, so while the massage can certainly differ a bit across bases, the overall experience tends to be pretty consistent at a high level. It's certainly not the same as a Swedish massage (though as a Swede, I may be biased about that 😊), but I do find it relaxing / soothing in a different way. Perhaps one way to think about it would be as more akin to the massage jets in a hot tub (except less directed at a specific area of your body and without the water and heat aspects of course). I hope that helps.

I wonder if the mattress will wear out faster when used with an adjustable base? Also, I can't imagine the "massage" feels any different than mild shaking. Does the massage feature simply vibrate the bed?
@goodbed
@goodbed 2 года назад
Hi there -- Thanks for your questions. Re: the massage, yes the motors are creating vibrations that move across the bed. So it is certainly a different type of massage than what you'd get from a masseur or masseuse. That said, FWIW, I don't think "mild shaking" is a particularly accurate characterization of what it feels like. The motor moves at much too high a speed for it to feel like shaking IMHO. Would you describe the experience of riding in a car on a typical highway as one of mild shaking? Probably not. It's more of a smooth and soothing vibration, and to me that is a very different experience from anything I would characterize as "shaking." Re: the effect it has on the longevity of the mattress, it certainly can only increase the wear and tear on the mattress, since any mattress (and in particular the foam in a mattress) will break down a tiny amount each time it is compressed. That said, the degree to which this added wear will be material will vary. First, it will depend of course on how often you use the adjustable features -- especially having the base is in a fully articulated position (both head and feet fully up at the same time), which places the most strain on the mattress. But all of that being equal, the effect it has on the mattress will depend heavily on the overall durability and adjustable base compatibility of that particular mattress. FWIW, both of these attributes are things we assess in our in-depth mattress reviews, so if this consideration is important for you, I'd recommend focusing your search on mattresses that we've reviewed. You can see those here: www.goodbed.com/expert-reviews/#reviews I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Audrey -- Thanks for your astute question. This gets to the heart of why we call this video a "product overview" rather than a "product review." I've personally tested dozens of adjustable bases, which is enough to be able to expertly explain their features, demonstrate how they work, and even provide context around how their feature set as a whole compares to other adjustable base options. However, we recognize that the value we provide relative to other sources of mattress information is truly *expert* independent information. Given the high standard we set for what constitutes true expertise, I don't feel I have sufficient expertise yet about adjustable bases to perform an expert *review*, as we do for mattresses. Once we do, your question will certainly be one we can answer. I hope that helps clarify, and we look forward to providing more detailed information like this in the future.

What about a reasonable description of the massage features? It seems I cannot find any reviews that will mention any detail regarding the massage feature... Like it is being deliberately avoided! It makes me suspect of the entire review as if that feature is something the company requests you skip over... I would be interested in this product even if it didn't include a massage feature BUT since it does have it - PLEASE give us some better feedback!

@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Tichina -- Thanks for your question, and sorry I didn't get to it sooner. Yes, this adjustable base can be used with any mattress from any brand, so long as that mattress is adjustable base friendly (meaning, as long as the mattress is meant to be used on a base that flexes and bends). All the Beautyrest Black mattresses are adjustable base friendly, so you would be perfectly fine using that mattress on this base. I hope that helps.

Will that damage the mattress going up & down over several years?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Vickie -- Thanks for your question. In general, if the mattress is specifically made to be compatible with an adjustable base, then it should not have a large detrimental effect on the mattress. That said, the reality is that not all "adjustable base friendly" mattresses are equally resistant to excess wear from frequent use on an adjustable base. For example, lower density foam (whether in the core or in a foam perimeter) is more likely to break down when held in an elevated position for long periods of time (over years). By contrast, higher density materials like latex are likely to hold up better than most on an adjustable base. Also, for mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable base, the number of times the mattress goes up and down is less likely to be the cause of break-down than the amount of time the mattress is held in an elevated position. In our more recent reviews, we have started discussing these nuances of adjustable base compatibility, so for more info on this, look for reviews from us that have an "Adjustable Base Compatibility" section in their table of contents. I hope that helps.

How does the saatva mattress conform to the lineal base? Does a firm matress 'bend'? What about the connected coils? The firm foam edging? Does the movement of the lineal base soften, weaken, fatigue the innerspring Saatva mattress? Does the massaging feature adequately translate through the coil mattress?
@billkacvinsky988
@billkacvinsky988 6 лет назад
Also I have an existing queen sleigh bed. Would the lineal base fit within the side rails. Or could the head/foot boards be attached to the lineal base?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Bill -- Thanks for these thoughtful questions. The short answer is that the 11.5" version of the Saatva is compatible with an adjustable base, which is a change to their design that was made in the second half of 2017. This is true of any of the softness levels, though the softer ones (which differ only in the foams on top, not in the spring layers underneath) will probably conform slightly better. The foam perimeter will also bend with the mattress. You can see a picture of a Saatva mattress in an elevated position here: www.saatvamattress.com/_img/shop-gallery-large-5.jpg The massage question is an interesting one as we have not actually compared how the massage strength transfers through an innerspring vs all-foam mattress. My expectation though would be that if there is any perceptible difference, it would be driven by the amount of foam in the mattress. Overall, foam should certainly have more of a dampening effect on massage vibrations than springs. In terms of any impact that the adjustable use has on the mattress, pocketed coils have a proven history of being able to bend and flex on an adjustable base without any material weakening as a result. As for the connected coil part of the Saatva's construction, TBH I'm not sure how they made this compatible but I do take a lot of comfort in the fact that they not only say it's adjustable base compatible, but they even promote it's use on an adjustable base. I don't think this is something they'd do willy nilly as it certainly puts them squarely on the hook for any warranty claims that arise from using it on an adjustable base. In terms of your question about the sleigh bed, the answer is generally that the base should fit fine as long as your sleigh bed is just a perimeter with nothing going across the middle. The length and width dimensions of the adjustable base are no bigger than the mattress, so as long as your bed has room for the mattress to fit comfortable, the base should just drop right in. The base also has standard plates at the head where it can be fastened to your bed just like you would do with an ordinary bed frame. I hope that's helpful.

hi, would you recommend saatva mattress for lineal...if its 14.5 inches with coil mattress would it still contour with the lineal?
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Mat -- Saatva recently reconfigured the 11.5" version of the Saatva mattress to make it adjustable base compatible. They did this specifically in connection with their launch of the Lineal base, so if you get one of the 11.5" Saatva mattresses, it should contour nicely to the Lineal base. It's also designed to feel the same as the 14.5" version, just with a thinner profile. With regards to the 14.5" version of the Saatva mattress, this one is actually *not* adjustable base compatible. Likewise, any 11.5" version that was purchased before the reconfiguring (which took place in early 2017) would not be adjustable base friendly either. I hope that helps.

Just bought a Saatva and used it on m adjustable base. Total bs that it doesn't flex at the bottom because it's new. This mattress is NOT good for an adjustable base if you need to use the leg part which I do. That's how I eliminated my lower back pain so this mattress is a waste of my time and false advertising. If it's supposed to work on an adjustable base it should do so, correctly and fully, immediately.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Amy -- I'm very sorry you haven't had a good experience using the 11" Saatva on an adjustable base. That's helpful to hear. Is it just the foot of the mattress that doesn't conform to the base, or is it more than that? In any case, if you're not happy with your mattress for any reason I'd definitely recommend calling Saatva to get a full refund. In terms of the "BS," did you feel that something in this video was misleading? We tried to proactively point out that the foot of the mattress won't conform immediately to the base when the foot is elevated. That goes for most "adjustable friendly" mattresses actually, though there are certainly some that won't have this issue.

There's a gap sort of before the lower hump. The lower bend in the base. There's a gap before it and then the mattress touches that hump of course and then the very end of the mattress just sticks up. I'll be returning it as it's also more of a medium firm than plush soft as described. I tried the Helix out as well and it worked great on the base but slept hot. :P

Thanks for clarifying Amy. Per my previous comments, this sounds totally normal, but your feedback will nonetheless be very helpful for other mattress shoppers who share this priority. You are also the second person in recent days who described the Plush Soft model as firmer than they expected. We haven't tested that version directly, so we will factor this into our estimation of its overall softness level. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Steve -- Are you referring to the point about the foot of the mattress sticking up a little rather than contouring to the base? If so, I'm not sure what you meant by "nice try" -- did you think we were trying to gloss over this point? To the contrary, we chose to specifically point that out so that people won't be surprised when this happens in their home. That said, you should be aware that this phenomenon is not unique to the Lineal -- it will happen on *any* adjustable base. Similarly, it isn't unique to the Loom & Leaf either -- it will happen with almost any mattress whenever you first start using it with an adjustable base. If the break-in period is a big concern for you, I would expect that an all-latex mattress (e.g., Zenhaven) would contour most immediately because latex is a very heavy and flexible material. Net, in case you are interested in an adjustable base, I just wanted to make it clear that any "deal-breaker" on this point relates to which mattress to buy, not which base. I hope that helps.
@stevehollywood1
@stevehollywood1 7 лет назад
no, I just thought it was funny and how would anyone know it would relax in time to contour, there's no weight on that part of the bed to relax or wear it in, you should use a worn in mattress, that was what I thought was funny. Hilarious, in fact.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
I see, thanks for clarifying Steve. We totally agree with you that most people wouldn't know to expect this. As a point of clarification, it's actually mostly the weight of the mattress itself that helps it contour over time, assisted a little of course by the weight of any legs / feet that are resting on that part of the mattress. That's why a mattress whose support core is made of a denser, heavier material (like latex) will contour more immediately. You could try using a "worn-in" mattress, but I don't think that would speed things up very much, since unless it has been used on an adjustable base, it won't have any added predisposition to bend in that way. Thanks again for your comment.
