Alabama head football coach Nick Saban eschewed routine for just a moment after the Alabama-Arkansas game, instead offering condolences to an Ankansas player who lost his father just a week ago.
I’ve honestly never hated saban. Most people hate him because they are envious but he’s a great person. It’s guys like Ryan day, dabo, etc that are arrogant coaches that run their mouths
@@lifeinvestments6329 Honestly the only reason I had any issues with him is the games he plays with recruiting. Many times he has offered scholarships then made the player wait until the next season to honor it (aka over recruiting). But either way, he always gets quality talent and normally has great success with it.
Man I believe it. Hasn't been long for me. Just lost mine 3 days before Christmas this past year. Then my Granddaddy, which is my moms dad passed 3 weeks later. My Granddaddy was actually a minister and officiated my dads funeral. Then in 3 weeks he went to join him. I cant explain the way I felt and still feel the night the nurse said hes gone.
Yup. My mom died of throat cancer 13 years ago coming up on June 7th. Never got over it, never will. Just had to go on and remember that as much as I wish I could have done something to change the outcome, it was out of my hands and nothing I could do would have altered it. It was hard to accept that, but eventually I did.

I do like Coach Orgeron and eventually he'll rebuild LSU if given the chance. Gonna be a great game regardless of either teams current records. Be safe, go SEC.

This is why Nick is one of the greatest ever. Besides the fact that he produces NFL talent and leads his team to top spots/championships year after year. Coming from a buckeye fan much respect to him and the tide!!!
Class move by Coach Saban. I experienced the death of my mom in the first quarter of my freshman year of college... and my dad at 24. God bless you, Nick. I know it meant a lot to this young man 😎
I lost my father unexpectedly when i was 19 years old. I saw him for lunch then 4 hours later, massive stroke and i got dreaded hospital phone call. He was a great dad to me and i think of him daily. Its been 20 years now. RIP Mark Eugene Walker.

Yup. And make sure when you do what he did, don't do it in private. Do it on the field, after the game, with all the cameras surrounding you, so you could make the evening news. @@sorellman “No hand shake”.......the first thing he did was shake his hand, did you watch the video? 0:10 He shook his hand and looked him in the eyes while talking to him. He later released his hand and patted him on the shoulder for the remainder of the conversation.
I always admired Saban for doing this. You can see how happy the young man is when Saban came up to him. That meant so much to him. I hope that he's successful after his time at Arkansas.
Nick Saban is an awesome guy with an awesome heart!He personally felt this young man's pain and sincerely wanted to help him get through it.He may be tough and about business but he sincerely loves people.This is why most of us would love to have played for him.It would be an honor and a tremendous blessing to just meet a man like him.I would have loved to have had a Dad or coach like him.

Many people think it's just about winning for a coach. Truth is, a true coach is looking at impacting a player's life. Seeking to teach life lessons for when the athlete leaves the game. I've never met this player, but I can tell you it meant a lot to him for Saban to show he cared.
As a die-hard Arkansas Razorback fan this was a real classy thing to do for Coach Saban it's on my bucket list that one day I will shake Nick Saban's hand fan I have nothing but the utmost respect for this man and what he's done for Alabama's football program and also root for Alabama when they play Auburn
I'm from Alabama, you seem to be from Arkansas. That was a very nice and classy statement you made. I get tired of fans making tacky statements when in the end ... it's just a game .... and not a one of US fans are actually out their on the field. The young men that are living their dream of playing college football and hopefully moving on to the NFL is on them. We are just along for the ride. I wouldn't expect anyone to root for a team outside of their state (unless you've moved elsewhere or have other affiliations) to root for another team. If I were to meet you I'd gladly shake your hand, say Roll Tide ... and expect you to say Go Razorbacks, then we could decide on who buys the next round of beers, etc. GO SEC ... and my God bless you and your loved ones.

Class act , class human being . He cares . SEC has some awesome coach's, players and fans . We don't see much behind the scenes , but this is just one example . The UK football team dedicated the Miss .St . game to a young boy who stole their hearts . Mon after the game the whole team were honorary pallbearers . What a tribute to that family . God is working behind the scenes thru people who love life and people . Athletes are amazing as are the coaches who show them in life there's more than winning , both on and off the field . That goes for all sports . God bless them all .
Lovely, caring gesture by Coach Saban. I'm sure those kind words from the Coach meant a great deal to that young man. Just goes to show it's not always about 'wins and losses'.....just being a decent human being and reaching out to those who may be hurting.
Wasn’t born in Arkansas, but did most of my growing up there. I’m a huge fan of the Hogs, and I’m a huge fan of our conference. I’ve met so many fans over the decades that when their team ain’t playing for a national championship, they’re happy to cheer for their arch-rival that is in the hunt for one. Southeastern folks recognize class no matter who has it.
You know, say what you will about Alabama and Saban, but he runs a clean program, and even though he may come off as grumpy sometimes, I do feel like he has a heart of gold, too.

This is like coach Bowen did for him when his dad passed away. Just reaching out to let him know that if he needs someone he will do what he can for him.
Saban will be remembered as a great coach, but to this kid he will be remembered as a caring soul. The latter is what really matters. This coming from huge bama fan. That is his greatest moment in football.
I have admired Saban for a good while now, and this gives me proof I am right. He is a class act whom I can compare to Bud Wilkinson, a superb coach and a real gentleman who knew how to be a MAN.(I personally knew and worked with Bud for a while)

I'm from Arkansas, born and raised a hog fan. I know we don't have much to root for as a team and that man has been the blame of many bad days around here however, I feel humbled. It's refreshing to see how classy this man is. I may hate him once a year, but I have massive respect for him.

What a class act this man is. Can you imagine being one of the few young men fortunate enough to be coached by Saban? What a feeling it must be to make him proud when all he knows is excellence.
My local community in WV was devastated by a flood in 2016. He’s from WV but not near our community. The things he did for local high school sports will never be forgotten. Truly a class human being.
This touches my heart deeply. I lost my dad right after I got out of high school, and I already admired Nick Saban before this. Now I have even more respect for this coach.
Coach Sabin is the reason why Alabama is consistently ranked at or near the top in football. This guy is a total class act that treats everyone with respect. He is able to recruit the best Players because he’s a man of inspirational integrity and players want to play for him.
I coached football for 16 years. I used to ask my players, “Do you think what we are doing is about football”? No it’s about finding your limits. It’s about trusting the man next to you and knowing he can trust you. Mainly it’s about life and how you are going to live it. I had this situation where one of my players lost his mother and baby sister. He could have quit but he came back a week later. He was the strength and inspiration for the whole team. As tough as coach Saban acts, I think he understands this too. At any level, coach Saban is a class act.
