The 7th Panzer Division invaded Belgium and France in 1940 under the command of Generalmajor Erwin Rommel. The Division was nicknamed 'La Division Fantôme' by the French, which translates into ‘Ghost Division’, for its speed, agility and surprise tactics. Wore a Sabaton tshirt to the gym earlier, mid-set a dude walked past, looked at the shirt, and threw up a cheeky metal hell-yea hand sign...the metal community is A+
@@Witheld Yeah they got that one wrong, metallica are more speed or thrash really. Love metallica to bits though I have ride the lightning stuck in my head 24/7
@@proguy1800 That's a really braindead comment. Metal is a massive beautiful umbrella, power metal is one massive sub genre taking shelter under said umbrella.
They weren't the only opponent, theuly were all the belgian army fir real, about 4.000 men. But they flew after they run out of ammilunition leasing only the 40tj in rearguard
@@TheWorldisaLIE2 Just saying he's wrong doesn't actually make him wrong. The USSR was also a pretty terrible bunch, but the Nazis were almost certainly worse on every level. Having bad ass soldiers don't change that in the slightest.
Those Panzers just literally push themselves to Paris killing any French resistance I got on their way. Leaving a trail of destruction , death and dread. Those armor phantoms did not play around.
@@Sabatonsaw you all back in October 8 2022 in Cincinnati with my cousin! This song was your intro, and screaming “Ghost Division!” with the crowd was EPIC. Thank you so much for that experience! Looking forward to the next time you swing by Cincy!
@mitchellneu I was at that show too! It was my first concert and I've never had so much fun. The only other time. That matches it was when they came to Indianapolis with Priest.
I am quite certain that Sabaton/Joakim Broden have better things to do than read or reply to a comment from a busted up US soldier; however, I would like the chance to tell you guys how hard you rock and how much my children love and learn from your music. Your lyrics are heavily inspiring. If not for the hard, heavy and historical sound of Sabaton, I doubt I would have had the strength or will to complete physical therapy. Im off crutches and walking normally again. In summary, thank you to the best power metal band that ever will exist!! ROCK ON!!
Music got me through the worst days of my physical therapy too. Unfortunately I didn’t discover Sabaton until 4 months later but Sabaton is now a regular in my DIY therapy maintenance routine.
Probably one of the best songs Sabaton has ever released. So good in fact, that it can make an entire Polish crowd headbang about a German invasion of *their own country* years ago!
Oh you might find this funny but my friend and I like to make a joke about how Rommel can break the sound barrier and when ask how he’s going so fast he goes this is slow for me and then causality goes faster than the speed of light
there are two ways to learn history: 1. the boring way -> find something you arent even interested in -> learn it -> wasted time 2. Sabaton -> find high quality music instantly after finding sabaton -> get interested in what the music is about by listening to the music -> learning more -> learning the details still beeing interested in whatever the music was about -> fun, knowledge and good music that probably never gets boring
Sabaton never made a song about H.U. Rudel, the ace of all aces but instead they made a song about the "Harlem Hellfighters" who are a lie and have never even existed. Let that sink in.
I clicked on this video faster than Rommel getting around the Ardennes Edit: yep it was through the Ardennes, I meant around the Maginot line (such a shame I make this mistake in my country's history)
@@arun_is_too_common Okay, wow, thanks. Two of my great-granddads served in the French Army in 1940. One was part of the 1.8 million captured and taken to a Stalag, the other had to live out the Occupation in hiding because he was Jewish. I don't care if you make fun of French generals for being absolute idiots - they were, and those are funny because they're accurate - but disrespecting people who died in such a recent and major war only to make a poor joke is just pathetic.
@@berserkerofthrawn5707Meth is one hell of a drug. "They have been marching for two days they probaly can't even hold guns." Ghost division "to the last man charge!!"
I introduced my dad and brother to your music, and my brother's favorites ended up being this one and "Ghost In The Trenches." Dad loves "Bismarck" the most, followed by "Blood of Bannockburn" and "Great War." 🤘
French BR-1 Divisions: "Nooo, our Tanks are inferior! We aren't supposed to lose to your bad armour!" Rommels and Mannsteins Tanks: "Hahaha, Flanking Speed go Brrrrrr"
Imagine some french soldier stationed to attempt to defend the borders near Belgium and Germany and you are already so disorganized and then you hear the tanks on their way to destroy what's left of your battalion
I think the first song I heard was attack of the dead men, but I actually thought that was a song from a show or something like that. Then I heard Bismarck and thought "wait wasn't that a actual ship" so I looked further into it and I was actually disappointed at first and I didn't like it at all. But sabaton has songs that grow on you. The first song I actively listened to was the red baron, then shiroyama, then No bullets fly, and it just rapidly expanded from there.
The Germans going around the Maginot line is just like you studying for a test but finding that the test is based on that one chapter you didn't study because you thought it won't be on the test
And Dunkirk is most of the class that all stayed off during the day to the test The French are the ones forced to take the test and the 51st Highland Division are the kids that didn't get told that the rest were staying off
“Alright Romania, we are Sabaton, we play heavy metal and this is….Ghost Division!!!” Really hope to hear this intro live again in the future. The show that you put up in July in Romania was truly epic. Can’t wait for the next one in the years to come. Keep up the amazing work guys. I hope that the copyright team from Carlsberg isn’t here, but you are probably the best heavy metal band in the world ! 🙌🏼
General: "Guys where the hell are you we can't find your location" Ghost Division: "Hahaha" General: "GUYS THIS IS SERIOUS WHERE ARE YOU" Ghost Division: "Funny story"
@@Putin_Gaming15 War is the only interesting part of history. People thinking I give af about some random French king that was known for his nice clothing or sm shit
a little story I got: it was the night before my computer exam, I was going to sleep and just lying there, worried that I hadn't studied much. So I got up, turned on the light, put this song on loop and studied from midnight till 2 in the morning. Next morning, I went to give the exam. I got 90% in the subject. Thank you sabaton
Whenever i went to their concert with Judas Priest in Evansville, this is the song they opened with. Deadass almost everyone around me said, "THEY ARE THE PANZER ELITE BORN TO COMPETE NEVER RETREAT" without fail. It was an amazing first concert for me. Thanks Sabaton!
@@Sabaton wow I didn’t expect a reply but anyway I love this song but my favourite one would be the last stand since it’s the first one I had listened to from this band
@@drinkyourwater1039 meanwhile: thetere 's a thunder in the east 'cause somebody heed the motherland's call for the last stand againt hearts of iron but...[spoiler alert] THEN WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVE!!!!
Honestly this piece of music probably has influenced me the most of all songs. When I first heard of this I really got into history and the stories of people of the past. First it was of course the WW2 era, but then the areas I was interested just grew, and now I am fascinated about the whole history of the world and how the decisions of some people affected the creation of our current world. It has grown so much that I am honestly thinking about going to go university with the goal of studying history and graduating on that topic. So thanks for making these songs. Literally changed the course of my life. 10/10 would recommend.
German Commander: Where are you in Frances Ghost Division: France? We left France like two months ago German commander: Where are you then Ghost Division: idk like Moscow or something no wait that was two days ago we’re in America German Commander: what the fu
Still one of my favorite songs, and I love the visuals here. Sabaton songs already narrate history, so the books and scrolling text is absolutely perfect.
I live in Germany, about 40km from Maginot Line in Alsasse in France . As I am , because of my Job, always somewhere else and often passing by the Line, it starts...RU-vid on: Sabaton, Sabaton, Sabaton, Sabaton....
Lightning war that's cute field martial I am the lightning (he was only a general of the 7th panzer at the time it was after this he became a field martial
It has been scientifically proven that listening to Sabaton while doing something makes you 5 times better at that thing. With that being said, I’m gonna go and conquer a micronation by myself.
I paused this song right before the chorus to talk to my sister and I forgot about it. When I hit play I get blasted with “THEY WERE THE PANZER ELITE BORN TO COMPETE NEVER RETREAT” and I head banged so hard that days later I’m still in pain.
Saw Sabaton for the first time this past Sunday when they opened for Judas Priest. I knew going in they'd open with this song, but GODDAMN did it still hit like a ton of bricks. Pumped me up for the entire night and it never let up.
