I agree, we should enlighten the people. Sabaton is doing a good job of this, I have to say. Digging up individual people from history and bringing them to life through a song. This alone is amazing, and eye-opening for many of us. If the TV-companies did this too, yes, that would be a step in the right direction. I would totally watch that! Not the 1000th movie about D-Day... It gets old, we've seen it already! Oh a new actor? Doesn't really change anything. But give me a name I have never heard before, and depiction their life on screen as accurately as possible, and yes, give it to me! Oh P.S. as a sidenote on this battle itself... We all hear of how horrible the Ardenne Offensive was (Battle of the Bulge). But unless you watch every single movie and whatnot, you likely missed the Monte Cassino story. I've seen it on a documentary, not sure if there is a movie about it. Probably, but yeah. Maybe it would be a too bloody and destructive movie in many ways... P.P.S. On the Monastery question.... Was it a target? I don't give a crap about it religiously wise. I think about the historical aspect of it. It was sad when Notre Dam burnt down, because it was so old and stood so beautifully in Paris. Now it's lost. The rebuilding of it will never be the same, even if they had tried to make it identical. So historically --- don't destroy really old buildings, unless there is zero options. Strategically? I mean.... There was no proof? I mean, we get to hear so much about "war crimes" related to the russian army during ww2, but when you really look at it - everyone did bad things. Like this monastery. Bombing a place with civilians.... With no proof of there actualyl being any enemy soldiers inside... Just because "they could be there tomorrow".... Yeah, major blunder. Also, the Germans wasn't using the monastery. Only after the bombing. So, the germans respected the building and agreements made with the monks e.t.c. The Allies did not give a rats ass. Sad.

All side made war crimes like you said, another example was the Laconia incident when German subs rescue ppl from the sinking and one American bomber attack them even after they send a message about the rescue. And for that attack the Germans send an order to never rescue enemy crews anymore. But in a war the winning side tell the stories.... To sad for that Monastery

I agree completely, we've had so many movies based around WW2 ( not to say it's not important) but how many cows are they willing to milk dry? We have a vast history, many countries that are rich with their own stories smh but it's ok, the 15th movie regarding D Day is just around the corner -___-

The battle of Monte Cassino was one of the more often forgotten, but also onebof the most savages battles of WWII. Imagine a battle of such apocalyptic proportions that even a bloody VOLCANO erups in the middle of it. On the Abbey subject, I stand on the thought that it should not have been destroyed. The Germans weren't using it mainly due to the fact that General Kesselring had ordered his troops to safeguard and preserve any culturally or artistically important place. The ruins of the abbey were later used however by the germans, arguebly making it more difficult for attackers to take it, so the bombing was more strategically detrimental than beneficial to the allies.

A tragedy for sure, I can understand that you want to reduce risk in war but not at the expense of the innocent... The thought process behind these generals is astonishing
