It's inevitable to compare her with the incomparable Ingeborg Hallstein, and WOW! Miss Devieilhe is alongside with Hallstein. I never thought I'd say that about any other coloratura. Thank you so much for sharing!
@Gree1596 Neither of them are coloraturas. Sabine and Ingeborg are both not real opera voices. Both actually mezzo sopranos. Both are bad. A Lyric Coloratura Soprano is in its foundation a massive and big voice. The more she goes in the higher register the more the voice opens. Which is exactly the opposite of what happens with those two singers. The more they go up, the more they become smaller, thinner and shriller.

@@marieantoinette3857 Going by your logic there have been only three or so true coloratura sopranos in the entire history, and those are Joan Sutherland, Edda Moser and Christina Deutekom. Not even Maria Callas as she tended to lighten up her voice the higher she went. So all books, articles and texts that have been written so far need to be burned since you are the only person in the world who knows what a coloratura soprano is, and all singers who have been labled lyric coloratura sopranos over the past 200 years were actually mezzo sopranos, and bad ones at that.
@@marieantoinette3857 There isn't any one operatic role for a lyric coloratura soprano that requires the voice to be big and massive. Surely none in the French repertoire do (Olympia, Philine, Lakmé, Ophélie, Dinorah etc.). Those sopranos with heavier voices who tried these lighter roles made a fool out of themselves or, in the case of Joan Sutherland, had to transpose the music (and then she still didn't sound right for the role).

And probably not about music history either. What nonsense you write. Callas was a mezzo. And a bad one too. She knew that herself. Well you can label a tomato that it is a banana but it doesn't change the fact, that in the end the true essence remains that you have a tomato. Labeling and reality are often two completely different things.
