Well not only is Sabo grown and a seasoned fighter before the fruit and Luffy was a small child, the gum gum fruit is a lot different and requires more training to apply to combat. Ace even said that his fruit isn’t good for fighting as a kid because of this and he didn’t see the application for it.

Ace and Sabo had similar fighting styles when they were kids. Sabo probably thought about Ace's fruit at least once and imagined him fighting with it

Sabo has a actuall fighting style Dragon Claw, This helps him get used to his fruit, Luffy was a random kid in the jungle raised by mountin bandits who dont know what a devil fruit is while sabo was trained by one of the 3 main groups in the whole one peice world, The revolutionary army who have previous expiriences with devil fruits, example being kuma.

Like, Ace died two years before this, and Sabo remembered Ace and Luffy when he saw it in the newspaper. And as a member of the Revolutionary Army, Sabo probably knows enough about Devil Fruits that the whole DF reincarnation thing is likely a concept he's aware of. Meaning that Sabo's more than likely spent some time during the timeskip thinking about finding Ace's reincarnated fruit, and how he would fight with it were he to obtain it.

That generally due to him being another character who turned out to not be dead (although this was obvious at the time), him being a less interesting version of ace, and the way he was explained for not meeting Luffy sooner (which was amnesia which is a pretty lazy writing technique).

@@DKRedo Kinemon at this time would not stand up to doflamingo, Zoro even with the debate of luffy and zoro being almost the same in strength would probably get hit by doflamingos awakenening and be out, Sabo isnt stronger than doflamingo he just got his devil fruit, Fujitora has no excuse he is a marine admiral he would probably 3 shot doflamingo, kanjuro would maybe defeat doflamingo, hakuba and doflamingo could go either way. Not gonna spoil what happens with luffy. Not be mean at all but good analasys.
