I liked the idea of Logan and Victor being brothers in the Origins movie, even if the movie wasn’t so good. Jackman and Liev did a good job portraying them
Kind of surprised you guys didn't mention the relationship with Sabretooth and Mystique. Also surprising is the fact that despite both of them being mutants, their son was born human who ended up hating mutants, forming The Friends of Humanity.
Wolverine actually grew up in an affluent family. His abusive life didn't start until after his biological father killed the man who was raising him in front of him

One version that's not often brought up is the age of apocalypse sabertooth, in an alternate timeline where apocalypses evil rules the world, even in a time were heroes like Hank McCoy are turned into twisted servents to him, in a twist that timelines Victor Creed stands with the resistance against apocalypse and shows his heroism, not just in figuring him, but being a father to Blink. I loved this sabertooth, including when he continued his story with Blink across alternate realities in the Exiles comics.
@@reapersritehand Yeah, which suggests the path of evil he follows in the main 606 timeline was averted by the events of apocalypse rising to power, and Victor going down an entirely different path, instead of embracing apocalypses evil, he stood against it in the end siding with magneto.
That was because Sabretooth became popular in the 90's, and Age of Apocalypse gave a great long alt dystopian (What If? type) story. Plenty of role reversals. All while the characters struggled with what they were in essence. It was successful. Prime (back to 616) merged the personality types through the M'Kraan. Victor Creed as a character was able to be accepted by fans as potentially Heroic, and brought through rehab before the Phalanx Covenant. Blink with Sabretooth was relatable like how Kitty Pryde had a Mentor/Caretaker in Wolverine. It was just a great time. Later on, Exiles expanded on it with a lot of fun adventures.
@@memorydrain7806 yeah I know this version of Victor died in exiles comics 😔, but because its comics I like to hold out belief either he still exists in another alternative timeline or he'll come back to life one day, since you know, comics
Man I read that comic as a kid and loved that sabretooth. It was my first experience with alternate versions of characters and people and not blew my mind
@@damianprock1650 a r rating won't save it cause deadpool was a bussy popping dualogy and wolverine was a garbage movie from a garbage time line that they can't even accurately bring to movies cause they ain't got the rights to every marvel character and replaced wolverine with the made for xmen evolution o.c. gender swapped character x23
@@tyronleung5276 I wouldn't be so sure, having X23 be Wolverine's daughter in *Logan* really put things into perspective for us, when Tchaka died in a fight with Ulysses Klaw, his son, Tchalla took his place as the Black Panther, I reckon the same can be said for Damian Wayne when his father, Bruce ends up killed by forces sent by Plankton
Sabertooth, Mr. Sinister and Magneto... 3 of the greatest villains. Not to be confused with most powerful/greatest powers. And all originating from X-men.
Victor Creed Sabretooth is one of the few "Street Level" Marvel Villains tht would almost undoubtedly defeat Batman in their 1st fight. If Batsy lives then Bruce attones.
One of my favorite comics with Wolverine and Sabertooth is a poster comic. Half of the pages flip out into larger poster sized pages and the art style was amazing. After a massive fight leaves both bloody and battered, Sabertooth tell Wolverine if he lets him live then he'll hunt down and kill everyone he knows. Wolverine with Sabertooth pinned against the wall and his fist under his chin, Wolverine pops two claws and lobotomized Sabertooth. For several comics after that one Sabertooth was just a big dumb puppy kept in a jail cell that was more like a nature reserve like he was just another animal in a zoo
Sabretooth is too hardcore for modern day comics and MCU. He can't be watered down, sissified, or made to push an agenda. Creed is cold. He kills and gets off on it.
Good video, but there are some flaws with what you've stated: 1. Wolverine and Sabretooth are NOT brothers in the mainline comics (Earth-616) 2. Wolverine Origin II mentions Creeds brother Saul and Clara (Saul ended up being killed by Logan in a scuffle and Clara cut all ties with Logan as a result) 3. Part of the reason Victor hates Logan so much is that Logan pretty much killed Saul, who was apparently Victor's punching bag and with him gone Victor pretty much desired a new one (And we all know who...)
Great video! I love Sabretooth. He's ruthless, and a great addition to Marvel. He's definitely part of the darker side of comics, and I love it. Ps. Love the layout and format of the video. It was a fun watch.
I remember Sabretooth from the comics but what really took it is when he appeared in X-men the animated series. The way Wolverine reacted to just the smell of Sabretooth let's you know it's darker and alot more sinister between them.
I hope they will make his rivalry with wolverine more recognized in mcu because we all know back in the day everytime logan can smell sabretooth you can feel that something's bad is gonna happen
Liev Schreiber was a great sabretooth I even liked the scene were Logan and sabretooth were tied up and he said to Logan wake me up when they finished shooting at us even the xmen 90’s cartoon version was awesome i was shocked they did a PDST episode of Sabretooth horrified of his past, were mystique and sabretooth partners at one stage correct me if I’m wrong
You're not wrong my guy *Sabertooth and Mystique* were getting it in so much that Sabertooth shot her club up. Then Mystique carried his offspring son to full term. She realized that their son is not a mutant and she dump him off. I can't remember what his first name is, but he does have Sabertooth's last name in Creed. I think he's like William Stryker and the Friends of Humanity zealots.
One more thing Liev Schreiber was great as Sabertooth arrogant, cocky and snarkey remarks. I believe they drew Liev Schreiber's face onto the current Sabertooth that's on lockdown in Krakcoa.
He crawled his way out of hell. He was originally meant to be an irredeemable villain but he has done some unselfish things from time to time. He has layers
One key thing on Sabertooth's backstory that was left out on this video is that on the rising popularity of the character, it was considered to have Sabertooth be in fact Logan's father. For many issues on the Wolverine early comics, every time Sabertooth would appear to attack Logan one way or the other, they would argue about their "Father and Son" status. Logan always was doubtful of this but Sabertooth was completely full on board thinking that he was indeed was Logan's father, until Logan, SilverFox, Maverick, Sabertooth and others from the Weapon X program were compelled to return to the facilities and there they discovered all the experiments that all of them were subjected to. SilverFox believed that the false memories that they all were subjected to made even her past relationship with Logan a false memory but it was revealed that they really had been together and that Sabertooth did indeed attack her, even intimately to hurt Logan. Also it was confirmed that Logan and Victor were NOT Father and son at all, just that they have an almost identical mutation, which led to the whole Romulus story line about a mutant that had claws like both Wolverine and Sabertooth, and was supposedly older with a stronger Healing Factor than both of them. At some point even Victor was feeling overwhelmed by his Blood lust that he couldn't deal with himself. And For sometime, Sabertooth had a Telepath Mutant called Birdie that would help him control his ever increasing blood lust. After many missions, when he would return she would give him a sort of Telepathic "Fix" that would tone down his animalistic violent tendencies. This would allow him to function normally and even made him seem peaceful and functional, but in one mission, Birdie was shot and killed, and Victor though minimally distress, decided that he was already tired of the fix and in one point was considering offing Birdie himself, embracing his animal side. The Romulus character had claimed that in ancient times when Mutants were emerging, and Homosapiens had evolved to their present line, a deviation of the Canine Lupus line have had a similar evolution as primates and that all animalistic Mutants were descendants of this line. Characters like Logan, Victor, Feral, Wildchild, Sasquatch and the such. Supposedly Dark haired clans of the animalistic Mutants were always at war against the Light haired Clans, and this was so ingrained into their genes that the descendants of these clans would instinctually fight one another, as a way to justify Logan's and Victor's rivalry. That was also revealed to be a lie, but it was also revealed on key element to Sabertooth, and that was that he had been successfully cloned many times as well. This would show that his appearance in Iron Fist where in one issue he had been killed would turn out that that a Sabertooth was a clone. The revelation would also explain why in many appearances Sabertooth he looked different and also in some, like in his early Iron Fist appearance he sometimes didn't have claws nor a healing factor. Also Apocalypse had also killed a Sabertooth clone in a comic, and eventually Logan would too kill a Sabertooth clone that had eviscerated Feral with Silver Samurai's Katana that nullified the Healing Factor. Indeed, Sabertooth is a great character and a darker vision of Logan, had the latter would give into his own Blood Lust and animalistic mutation.
@@edwardbloecher4563 I think many of us were into the idea of them being father and son. Even presently, though knowing that they are not related, one could accept them actually have some sort of blood relation.
Sasquatch isint mutant and Claremont original plan was that Sabretooth with John Byrne costume was weaker clone and The one with Jim Lee costume was original.
@@kanukki84 All the same, in the Romulus storyline Sasquatch was also considered a descendant of this supposed line of Hominid Lupines, as well as any humanoid animalistic character, even the Wolf morphing Wolfsbane. Just look up the storyline...though as I said, it all was proven to be a lie from Romulus anyway.

Marvel needs a new SuperVillain Team: Leader-Mr. Sinister; #2 & CFO- Archangel; Muscle-Juggernaut; V. Creed & Mystique as Lead Assassins; Destiny & Psylocke as scout/espionage team;
Sabretooth and Wolverine aren’t brothers, aren’t father and son, none of that. They just have a similar mutation. They left out that Sabretooth is a former partner of The Constrictor and used to partner with him against Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
I hope they brought Victor from the Wolverine movie back for DP3 . Dude was the only good version of the character. And I like how he kept calling him Jimmy 😂.
Everyone talks so much trash about X-men Origins. It was a good movie. I liked it back in 2009 and still love it now. It’s actually gotten better with age. Especially juxtaposed against a lot of modern stuff.
First of, great voice, pleasant to listen. Second, Tyler Mane>Liev Schreiber. Third, Sabretooth has been my favorite for many years now and I've seen many of his ups and downs, from his character development, but most of it is bad, lets be honest, he's no role model. I'd like to add few things. First, there was What if: Cat and mouse, where he was at his most terrifying, he killed Beast and Bishop but was at the end killed by Jubilee. Second, there was a one shot comic that came out before second X-men movie, that explains his absence from the sequel. It was actually somewhat wholesome, as him and Wolverine were having a beer talking about their forgotten past trying to recollect memories, before getting attacked by Special ops and being taken on a plane above Canada's mountains, then it was tragic in the end, Sabretooth saved Logan from them (by throwing him out of a plane) and it is mentioned that Sabes didn't survive adamantium bonding, giving an explanation why he was ever in second movie. The comic is called X-men 2: Movie prequel Wolverine, if anyone is interested.
Sabretooth had also killed another mutant with similar powers: Feral! He not only killed Feral, but partially cannibalizes her, which caused Wolverine to decapitate him.
I would have loved to see Liev or Leiv (I forgot how to spell his name) from origins in LA movies more as I loved him, very good but kinda creepy performance
@@biguy617 ye have little faith, you saw him help Wolverine defeat Weapon 11, there's even been times when Magneto joined forces with the X-Men whenever they end up with a common enemy and a common goal, there's especially been times when the villains got their own movies, *Joker,* *Venom,* and even the new *Morbius* movie are such good examples of why Sabretooth deserves either a movie or a show of his own
I like how this video is read from wikipedia, Wolverine and sabertooth aren’t related…James Howlett is son to Thomas Logan and Elizabeth Howlett…Victor Creed is son to Zebidiah Creed and Victoria Creed. Sabertooth torments Wolverine because he kills his brother Saul Creed…everyone thinks they are brothers because Sabertooth looks exactly like Dog Logan son to Thomas Logan, who is wolverines half brother.
When the MCU brings Wolverine I really hope they do Sabertooth justice and have him appear more frequently like Loki and maybe have him be a Villain in the beginning but then become more of an Anti Hero down the line and it’s a little dumb I know but have him and Wolverine be half brothers
Funnily enough , Sabretooth was SUPPOSED to be Logan’s FATHER in the comics! But editorial nixed that (Possibly because he first appeared in Iron Fist.). I personally prefer the Team X origin myself (They used to be teammates/ friends , but they had a falling out . That works better, I think .).
They still haven't done a proper sabretooth. I remember the first xmen movie actually had someone who resembled Sabre too but than that Liev dude got the role and Butchered it. Sabretooth the wildest enemy of wolverine has not yet been portrayed as he was in the comic books.
@@jackalope2302 I think they didn’t want two Wolverine villains in the same movie for X2. You already have Deathstrike. You don’t need Sabertooth again. X3 though had Juggernaut but he was badly written. The character was better in Deadpool 2. I did like seeing Sabertooth played by Liev Schieber in X-Origins but I didn’t like him written as Wolverine’s brother and no explanation as to how he becomes the Taylor Mane version. I suspect Stryker did something to his mutation to make him more animalistic but we are never told what.
@@biguy617 They made Deathstrike hot Sabertooth instead of a cyborg. That was meh. I don't think B. Singer did anything good with any villains but Magneto and Mystique
@@jackalope2302 I liked seeing her as a mutant instead of a cyborg. That made more sense. I just don’t like that she isn’t Logan’s ex-girlfriend like she is in the comics. It makes her a bland character.
I don't care how much how many people like Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth and I really don't give a toss on how well he may have captured Sabretooth's "personality" (if you read about him in the comics Liev didn't really portray a faithful Sabretooth in fact...). I don't care about any of these. The character design he was given was appalling. Even deplorable like someone would say... LOL. It was the worst design they could've given Sabretooth. On top of that they came with with an even lamer story that made Wolverine and him brothers... They messed up Wolverine himself too by trying to replicate the character's hairdo from X-Men: Evolution which only ended up creating a very sissy look for Wolverine... LOL. Overall, the movie was bad and except some decently accomplished fight and action scenes this movie was far below average...
They need to also show(besides powers) what makes mutants so much more different than regular humans because all the mutants seem like regular humans with abilities and also Wolverine isn't a human 🧬 or mutant he like some others are Lupines. So how are they different than humans and mutants it would definitely be interesting to see.👍🏿
It was always suggested, back in the day, that Sabertooth was actually Wolverine's father. This, he knew Logan's birthday and it also explained why Wolverine could never beat Sabertooth in battle. This is what I've always preferred as the origin of Wolverine. Makes more sense than these other stupid storylines that suck. It explains Wolverine going crazy at times in battle knowing that Victor Creed's blood flowed through his veins.
Few problems with X-men Origins: Wolverine being set in 1979: -Stryker told General Munson that he's been dealing with mutants for 20 years which meant that he's been doing this since 1959. The government didn't know mutants existed until the events of First Class in 1962 so that would place Origins in 1982. -In Days of Future Past, when 1973 Wolverine meets Stryker in Paris, they don't recognize each other even though Origins showed them meeting during the Vietnam war. Finally, -The original X-men trilogy (set in the 2000's) says that Wolverine suffered amnesia for 15 years. That would place the weapon X experiment in the mid-1980's. Deadpool is right, these timelines are confusing.
Their not brothers the real backstory from the comics is different sabertooth sister was dating Logan her younger brother attack wolverine so ofc Logan kill he’s ass, she left Logan and told sabertooth what happen so every year on he’s brothers birthday he attacks Logan.
No mention of Sabretooth's father starting the Friend's Of Humanity, the anti mutant group? Or yall only talking about the newest versions of the origin story?
