I just received SCG T6CF with all metal and am impressed with the fit and finish. It feels great. It works as good and better in situations than an old Miller DS I have been using. Everything is high quality. One thing you must be careful is when you use Manfrotto or compatible plates. Not all will lock with safety. Some does and some don’t. Test the plate without camera before using.
That’s awesome! Your going to love it! I was just showing mine to a friend last night telling him how it’s such a great tripod. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Enjoy!
I’m a couple years late, and I don’t know if you’re still answering comments lol but here goes: How sturdy is the tripod? If you’re panning/tilting in a shot do you weigh it down at all to avoid any shakes? Great video, by the way. Very informative.
Yup still answering comments 🤣. This tripod is seriously smooth and built like a tank. It’s stable without weight but if I need a little more stability then I just open the legs further and that usually does the trick. Really you’d be hard pressed to find a tripod of this quality at this price. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Hey, thanks for the vid, the tripod looks cool! Made me seriously consider purchasing one. I just wish you pointed out any drawbacks of the product too (any product has them), otherwise it feels very biased, borderline advertisement.
Hey no problem! I completely understand what you mean. When I’m excited about something I tend to focus on the positives. The only two drawbacks that I’ve experienced with this tripod is 1: when using a different base plate it can fit a little loose and you need to make sure to tighten it all the way so you don’t drop your camera 2: the first set of legs had a plastic piece that broke (but they warranted my tripod legs with a updated metal version). Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
As long as you balance your setup on the fluid head properly it will definitely be smooth. If your lens is excessively heavy you could move up to the T8, but I use my URSA 12 rig with heavy cinema lenses on this setup with no issues. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@@GlenReed Hey I’ve noticed on their website the T8 (2.2kg) weight is nearly identical to the T6 (2.18) and only $100 more. Do think this is possible or possible error on their website?
Not sure what part you are reading but the T6 is rated for 6kg and the T8 is rated for 8kg. Probably a typo. The people there are really nice so it might be worth letting them know.
Oh I see now, you are reading the product weight not the load capacity. It’s basically the counter balance that changes so I can see that as being accurate.
Didn't read in the advertising payload. I need an Tripod and head that is able to hold 26 LB or 12KG. Your presentation was interested but just as the other alternative, the Cinegears Tripods must ordered oversees. I'm from Belgium, have you knowledge of an country besides England (Brexit !) that sells SCG Tripods? Thanks for your time.
Their biggest fluid head the T8 can only counter balance up to 8kg which is a large rig. You can buy directly through SCG’s website, they are from Australia. If that doesn’t work I would try contacting them as their customer service is really good. They can probably direct you to a reseller. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.
You're very welcome. I had this question myself before buying this system. Here is the answer I got from the company when I asked about mounting it to my slider system "The fitting ball of our head is actually a half ball with a flat cross-section at the bottom and the stud for connecting the head to the tripod can be removed (it probably needs to be warmed up by a hairdryer as thread Loctite was applied). If your slider uses 3/8" screw that is long enough to secure a flat-base fluid head, it should be able to be used for this fluid head.". Hope this info helps. Thanks for watching!
hi. Thinking about this head. in combination with i footage fastbowl. Is the screw for adjusting the level of head the same as a top one? i have one other tripod (100 euros range) which does have different screw on the bottom. i am interested because i swap very often between slider and fluid head using just one set of legs. So i am hoping this head will work with fast bowl from ifootage. Maybe next time you could put music little lower. Thank you
Hey thanks for the great question! I love that fastbowl system from iFootage. To answer your question the SGC fluid head does use a standard 3/8 mounting screw that will fit the iFootage tripod. Thanks for the advise on the music sometimes its hard to find a good balance.
Has anyone found any aftermarket baseplates for this SCG system? Looking for a baseplate that fits the SCG but also has screw holes in the base for quick use with a monopod.
Unfortunately I’ve never used the GH06, but from what I’ve seen they are both very similar. I would say the legs are a little more convenient on the GH06 with the mono lock but the head seems a little better built on the SGC. Plus the SGC is a bit cheaper. Probably not the answer you were hoping for but hopefully it helps. Thanks for watching!
The GH06 is fully compatible with the Manfrotto PL501plate system whereas the SCG has a slight variance and as a result you need the SCG plate. But I would say the side mounting would be a massive plus!
Technically, yes it is removable with a few nuts and bolts. However, I don’t think it’s meant to be removed. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching!
I have not heard this advice before. I am far from being an industry expert but I would say if the tripod is made well it should handle the any setup within the specified payload range. The tripod in the video has been used with several different rig setups and has performed well for me. Plus I always try to buy things that give me room to grow rather than being topped out from the start. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
These look like a design knock-off of the Sachtler FSB heads. The price looks attractive if the specs are accurate. As SCG has no US dealerships, I suggested to them that they make their video heads and tripods available to camera rental stores to get them out into the public. Their products LOOK very nice, but the hassle and cost of return shipping if not satisfied doesn't warrant the risk (for me).
I completely understand it is a risk for a somewhat unknown company. But, I can say that I have used my system since the making of this video and it has served me VERY well. It’s very smooth and well balanced. It’s actually better than a Sachtler FSB head. When it comes time to get a second system I will definitely be buying it from SCG. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for the feedback! Yeah I definitely have some learning to do. I have made some improvements on my more recent videos, it's all a learning process. But thanks for watching anyways 🙂
