That's what Southgate always does (and no, him lying about it in a presser and claiming "it's not the official tactic" is BS): Against any (supposed) "weaker" teams: Get ahead by 1 goal and then park the bus, against any (supposed) "stronger" teams: Park the bus as long as the game is equal and try to hold out for pens.
Pickford was our best player, but if you are always going to pass back to the keeper and basically use him as an outfield player use a keeper that is capable of distributing the ball well
Pickford needs the Pep treatment, consistantly kicking the ball long is not the way, the Spanish keeper is crap at kicking it long to a player up front but he manages to find his midfielders.
Thought Guehi was our best player tbh, only player who's been at least 7/10 every game, v nearly got us back in the final with the header off the line that would've just capped off his whole tournament...i don't want to see Maguire starting over him at WC 26, Guehi is clear
they got to the final with random moments of individual brilliance from players. got outcoached in literally every game but people harp on about 2 final appearance when he has actually sabotaged a gifted team with a deep bench
Greece didn't scam anything. They were solid defensively, well organised and clinical. They didn't create many chances, but they nearly always scored when they did. And they beat Portugal twice! They deserved their title. We have better players but a disjointed, nervous team. Two things Greece weren't.

You got outcoached by both Slovakia and Switzerland, you just had the better players to bail you out. Spain outcoached England but they also happen to have players just as good as England lol, that's all there is.
You could tell England were going to lose before they even put a foot on the pitch. Look at their demeanour in the tunnel and compare it to the Spanish players. The Spanish were focussed, calm and looking solid. The English team looked like a rabbit staring into car headlights: scared, nervous etc.
I saw and said the SAME thing. You could tell the occassion was too big for them. Mainly the city players too. I saw NO ONE smiling or grinning like they wanted to be there or they were enjoying the opportunety to make a nation of ppl proud. They looked focused but more like not wanted to be the one to put the foot wrong. PRESSURE was just too much for them, from the "keep it tight lads tactics"

Foden and Kane were underwhelming most of the tournament. People act like Southgate’s subs were genius when they scored when in reality those players should’ve been starting much earlier in the competition
Southgate on about players physically struggling and he picked the same team for 7 games and barely used subs until the last few minutes 😂 no left side threat for the full tournament and he gives Gordon 1 minute of game time, Bellingham having to go wide for Foden who done nothing, bringing players who are not even fit and then starts 2 of them in the final. The same shocking line up for the full tournament and the same shocking performances... no top manager would do that

The annoying thing is that win or lose Southgate will get so much undeserved praise when he basically actively sabotaged the team for the whole tournament. Any fan watching at home could have managed that talented squad better, all the starters never performed and the only good play came when the subs gave on game after game so why keep starting the same team over and over again?! I watched this game and realized that Southgate achieved something I previously thought was impossible: every english player looked like he was playing out of his possision. Of course except for Pickford. That is astounding: I never seen something like that before. I believe England can only benefit from sacking this muppet. The problem is, a lot of the comments aren't even from accounts based in England, we need more accountability on social media where profiles are linked to real world identities, it's the only way to cut it out.

I thought so too but having put myself through the horror of watching it again, Saka didn't track back with his runners and kinda left Walker exposed and he's not aware enough of the danger going on behind him. We were screaming "he's behind you" like a f*****g pantomime villain for three or four seconds before Walker turned and saw Cucarella.
Stones was doing good in that final, Pickford once again our only good player. We have to pray for klopp, I also think there is only so much you can say about the manager before you need to start pointing the finger at the players.
