I am so sorry that I took for granted Sacrament meeting. Now, with California not allowing Church due to covid, My heart is broken. Yes, I can and will honor the Sabbath and bless my own sacrament, (make sure you treat this Ordinance reverently by wearing your sunday clothes) But now that my Wife has passed and the children have their own families, It is a very lonely affair. I miss my wife. Hopefully I can join her soon but I am quite young. (60) Again I am sorry I took so much for granted.
Just don’t thinks for granted twice. The old saying: fool me once, shame on you , fool me twice... Do not simply cooperate believing your government has the best in mind. California government has shown insane overreach during (and before) Covid. The government will not peel back these restrictions unless there is a demand. A huge demand. It’s a time to be unified and fight back. If NBA players can play basketball, then we can sing in church.
@@kcb5336 If I could leave I would. I've lived for a time in NV, (baptized there)TX. and UT. Unfortunatly since I'm on disability (and refuse food stamps and all the rest) I am unable. I Pray everyday for the means to do so, I only hope that the Lord will grant that prayer before it is to late. I do have a small amount (6000$) that I'll have in July and am looking for somewhere near a Temple in UT., WY. or ID. but it is a great ask to rent/own when all you can afford is 5-700 dollars. but Thank you for your reply.
I am so sorry for your loss. Is there any one of your children nearby that you can join? What about a fellow member near you that you are close to? Is your Bishop looking for volunteers to go to members homes that don’t have the Priesthood in their home to bless and pass the Sacrament? If so, you could volunteer and take your Sacrament at this time. Again, I am so sorry for your loss but she will be waiting for you.

Thankyou for reference. This message is so plain ,direct and to the point. I don't find being a follower of Christ " a walk in the park ". Focusing on the Sacrament week by week really helps in this challenging life journey. Love to all, this Holy season.
I love Elder Oaks careful, well thought out talks! We have 5 grown children, & when they were little, they had to sit quietly through sacrament meeting. Many people could not figure out how we did it, & while it isn't easy, it can be done. For us, sacrament meeting was not play time (no toys, past 8 months old), it was not snack time (no snacks during sacrament, except for a bottle for the current baby), it was not library hour (no books, except looking nicely through the hymnbook), and it was not color time (no coloring, either). So what did they get to do? They got to sit up and listen to the talks or sit quietly look through the hymns. What happened when they were naughty or noisy? They went out into the hallway, and that was NEVER more fun than being in the chapel. (Child had to sit in lap, pinned down until they were ready to behave again.) What happened when we got home? If they were really bad, they had to sit on the couch at home and "practice " for as long as they were stinkers at church. Some people might say "yah right, way to make going to church hell". Nope, didn't happen, because we had family talks and discussions all the time about how important it is to treat sacrament with respect. And so now, you might ask, what is our success rate? I will tell you ~ all 5 children have received their own endowments, 2 of the 5 have gone on missions, 3 of the 5 are sealed in the temple and are in the midst of their own little families, 2 are still in college, and all 5 are dedicated to serving the Lord! I promise you that your children will not hate you for taking away their entertainment during church, especially when it is accompanied by timely, happy family discussion about the sacrament and it's sacred nature. To this day, my kids do not look to be entertained nor do they sleep during sacrament, because it is precious to them. I'm not saying this to boast, but rather to say that it can be done. Trust in your instincts as a parent, your children are far more capable & intelligent than you may be giving them credit for, & so are you! Yes, it's hard, but what is hard in the beginning with little ones builds a strong foundation for their adult years. If you put in the effort now, it pays off 1000fold when they are grown. I promise you its true! Myself, my children, & now my grandchildren are living proof that it can & will work. Being at home during covid19 is the perfect time to practice, and when your area starts up again, you will be amazed and awed by the reverence and joy your family can experience during the sacrament. 😊😙💞😙😊
The Dugway Utah Temple I wish that temple could be the 26th built in Utah and 2nd in Tooele County following the Deseret Peak Utah Temple as possibly to be announced at the end of the 191st annual general conference sunday session so i will pray for it
I wouldn't jump to blame those that attend sacrament for being easily distracted or bored. I would look to the structure of the meeting on how we can improve it so others don't want to look at a phone. Sacrament meetings need to be improved, the music needs to be improved, people speaking should prepare for weeks or months for their talks to ensure they are as amazing as possible vs the night before or morning of and include apologies for not being a good speaker.
I don't know where you go to church but in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints it's nothing like what you're talkin about ! You should come and follow promptings of the Holy Ghost and the teachings of Jesus Christ ! The Church of Jesus Christ is first class not even second or third👌

@@truelinebuilders2888 😂 where's my glass of Metamucil? I'm just hoping at some point that we can make Sacrament Meetings better, more spiritual, bring more energy to them. I want people to prepare their talks like they're speaking in general conference, to come early to get ready to participate in likely the most important ordinance of their week, to sing the hymns like the prophet was in attendance, and for musical numbers that focus on if they uplift vs. were they in the outdated hymn book.
The mind is a very powerful thing, so we are commanded to focus on ourselves and not others because we will be judged for what we think and how we judge others. Stay focused and don't let your mind wander, it may be hard for some people back practice will but come better. Anyway when it comes to the sacrament it should be between you and the Lord only. You may be surprised one day the windows of heaven will be open to you when you focus on Jesus Christ , so don't let a good mind go to waste.
@@benisrood it may be salvageable in its current format. I think we should all try to do everything we can to make it work but if it doesn't then you take what you've learned and get better! The format for sacrament meeting and Sunday service has changed many times over the years and that's ok.
Can't wait to get back to normal. Even though we are back in the chapel, people are so afraid to sing, so I feel like I'm doing a solo when I join in singing.
I also felt as though I was doing a solo singing of sacrament meeting hymns in the Chicago suburbs about two months ago----- I could not fathom how no one was willing to sing.........
I sing loud and proud because the hymns are a prayer to our Father in Heaven. I don't worry about what others will think, I just think about the atonement and the Lord's will for me.

So are you saying the Sacrament ceremony was not instituted for the renewal of the ordinance of Consecrated United Order? Are you saying you have missed entirely the original purpose of this important Priesthood ceremony regarding the unity and harmony of a United Order? Maybe you could try reading the Word of God in the context of the Sacrament and the applicable revelations to the Prophet Joseph?
Do you really think the Sacrament is renewal of Baptism? Read the D&C. Is it not a statement that you are being faithful in your United Order stewardship. The United Order mandated by the Lord is not even practiced and that makes partaking of the Sacrament an act of disrespect and mockery.
The Saints couldn’t live the United Order and therefore was taken away by the Lord so as not the bring condemnation on the whole church. The United Order was replaced with the Law of Tithing
Sounds like someone let some of the people out of the great and spacious building. I just don't understand those people that cry all the time about the church I would think they would have better things to do then criticize and squawk like a bunch of chickens. It's too bad and so sad they will just never understand the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Their own profession of faith ensures this: "In the New Testament, we read that Jesus Christ established His Church, “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets” (Ephesians 2:20). But after the death of Peter and other Apostles, the original Church, along with God’s authority, was lost. In 1820, God and Jesus called a new prophet to reestablish the Church of Jesus Christ in its fulness." from the LDS website Meanwhile this guy opens with Saint Paul, you know, one who helped continue the faith and true Church as recorded by the early Church Fathers... you know, the ones who ensured the sanctity and proliferation of Christ's message and Church. (Saints Jerome, Justin Martyr, Augustine, Chrysostom, Iraneus, Athanasius) I recommend reading the Church Fathers since they were appointed as bishops of the Church in the 2nd 3rd and 4th centuries... you know... after the Apostles :) The true sacrament this false church imitates has been the Holy Eucharist offered and received at every Holy Mass for the past 20 centuries, you know... since the time Christ instituted it at the Last Supper... So even if you attend the LDS sacrament meeting, you are still not receiving the true sacrament. Seek truth and the grace to leave this sacrilege
