This video is what I was looking for thank you! I'm going up to Sacramento with my wife the beginning of November and I'm bringing my fishing gear. I've never fished the river and so this video was perfect.
I caught 38 salmon from the bank at Freeport in 2013. Biggest was 35lbs male king, smallest was a pink(or other small salmon) less than 2lbs. 👑🤙🏽😁 Please don’t litter; some people get mad and start problems when people leave all their junk they brought. Keep our fishing spots clean for future generations.
I was there this weekend with my girl going down river road. We couldnt find a really good area to park and have a spot for her to set up her chair lmao (shit was steep and not alot of flat flooting and she likes live bait and not lure). Any suggestions? I think we were around the Paintersville area.. ended up going to Tiscornia lol. We plan on going back tho when its a little warmer.
Me and a friend of mine are wanting to come up there but we want to camp on the river. Are there any places in any of those areas to do that? Thank you
I love how you emphasize not to litter! It's such a big problem! People need to realize by littering, they are ruining our environment and fishing experience for others. If people can't clean up after themselves, they DON'T belong out there.
Kevin Milani in my experience the incoming tide has been best so far. And to check tides go to tides Willy weather and type whatever location your going to. And I like fishing in the morning so that’s when I catch my salmon the most. Hope this helps!
What length rod are you using for your salmon fishing? I have been using a 7'6" but find issues getting my 7/8oz Flying C out far enough. Was thinking about buying a 9' Ugly Stik just for salmon to help.
I only use a 7 foot medium heavy. And a Revo x Baitcaster and I also use a black max Baitcaster. And I get out far enough. So maybe check your line as well to make sure it’s not to heavy so you can cast far.
Great video man! I have a question, i have a 7ft bait caster. I can probably cast out 35 to 40 yard maybe more, is that far enough? Planning to go out this weekend to freeport.
Hey bro have you ever been to the elk horn boat launch out by the airport? Any recommendations what to use there? (Bait, weight size, rug, etc) I’m super newbie at fishing and only really have had any luck with little trout in Tahoe and some bass at a little hole up off the feather river but I’m trying to learn how to catch other fish but always strike out probably because of my gear, bait, rigs. Any advice for that spot for evening fishing?
I've not fish there yet but what you can do is anytime from March to Early May because that's when the stripers are coming up river to spawn. U can check out my vid on the best rigs for stripers it explains how to use it. The rig looks somewhat like this https: //www.google.com/search?q=striped+bass+carolina+rig&sxsrf=ALeKk02RIPxYXAnd1Ro9alQizEAANPKD6g:1612049522242&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjSqYi56MTuAhXUOn0KHQl9DXMQ_AUoAXoECBgQAw&biw=1920&bih=937#imgrc=FrOFjcTYFkBApM there are also other vids on that. And on the hook cut fillets of sardine and put just enough to cover the hook but leave the hook point exposed. (you can get sardines from the bait shop and u can ask about other baits to use as well) U can also use thread or magic thread to tie down the sardine so it doesn't fall off when fish bite or when casting. the weight u can use 1 oz or 2 oz it depends on the current. Also my other striper vids have that info. Sorry that was a lot but hopefully that helps :)
@@vinc8ntl8r thanks bro. Yea i saw your other vids. I’m super new to striper fishing so I’ll play around with weights and stuff but def liked how your vids are all sac specific. Thanks man Maybe we can go fishing together sometime
@@vinc8ntl8r Thank you- and also, how is the best way to fish shoulder to shoulder, like for example how to cast exactly so you dont snag another person line. Another video suggestion and I think you should really make a video about this- fish regulations for salmon, etc. It would def bring in many new fisherman as many don't know about the regulations or understand it correctly.
Hi Vincent, I am new to your channel and to fishing for salmon on the Sac. I really like your videos and the great info you share. I know you said in this video not to worry about location so much but I am planning on taking my first salmon outing this year tomorrow (Friday) morning. Any tip on where to go? I would much appreciate it. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Good info but you should really consider the negative impact you’re leaving on the river and ecosystem by openly putting spots on blast. Maybe it’ll take you a few years to realize it as the spots you and your dad visit get shut down, but most people who are groveling for “the spot” are carefree individuals who leave Duo Realis, Flying C packages and their swisher wrappers all over the place. You can make quality videos (as you are) without putting direct areas on blast. If this is to grow your channel and just get a following base, you might wake up one day in the future and look at the garbage filled river banks with no parking signs and chain link fences around and be recalled to a time in your memory when RU-vid views weren’t worth sacrificing your childhood memories and areas for. Just a thought. Cool videos but really think about this from a long term standpoint man.
@@vinc8ntl8r for sure man. I fish out here a lot and yeah, saying spots like freeport or clarksburg, or saying miller park or south river road to isleton isn't hurting anything. Those are timeless areas that everyone knows. There's only so many "parking" spots down "the road" and plenty of Farmer Johns who are sick of duo realis boxes and camp spots on the levees. I know my share of farmers and private prop owners down here and most have no beef with fishermen, most look the other way when they see someone on the rocks, but it's getting worse every year with trash and this striper season was INSANE with lure packages, I know two farmers who went out and had everyone kicked out after witnessing people just trash the bank and parking spots. You seem like a smart dude who wants to keep fishing the area, just make sure you aren't fanning the flames of fishing shutdown/environmental negativity that social media can leave behind. Good luck and hope you get some chrome soon.
