Soon, the Sacramento Zoo will move to Elk Grove. But in the meantime, zoo officials are trying to find a way to document the move and remodeling process.
Sacramento Zoo is way too tiny. 14 acres! I was shocked when I discovered how small their zoo was. By comparison, the Portland Oregon Zoo is 64 acres! A bigger zoo is good for everyone. Animals will have more breathing room with bigger cages and fences. We'll get to see more animals. Win win for all.
This would put Elk Grove on the map. Do it Elk Grove, this will draw visitors from all over NorCal. They should partner with UC Davis, and make it not just a Zoo, but an veterinary animal and habitat research center, that can draw scientists and researchers from around the world. The Old Zoo, should be turned into a River/Ocean Habitat Aquarium or better A Botanical Gardens. It already has the structures to make a wonderful Sacramento version of Butchart Gardens in British Columbia. Need to double the size perhaps though.
I'm sad that the zoo is leaving the Land Park area but it's not about the people it's about the animals!! At least give them their space!! How would you feel if you were confined all the time..
Sacramento can’t do anything about the homeless, there are many homeless people who don’t want to be supported by the government and the government can’t force to them to get off the streets.
Let's not forget Mayor Steinberg welcoming Afghani & Ukrainian refugees to Sac when the System is already too stretched to even care for its own citizens. Looks like the Neediest Sacramentans keep getting the short end of the stick while even Zoo animals and foreign refugees are the Winners !!! At this rate, what do elections in America even mean ???

The zoo is sad, it’s embarrassing considering that this is the state capitol. I drive all the way to Oakland to go to a nice zoo. The San Francisco zoo is also ugly!

If they’re gonna move to elk Grove to make it better please make it better go back to how it was with elephants and hippos and bears alligators so our future generations have something to look forward to and please don’t raise the cost of admission keep it as it is so families with multiple children can afford to take them there just because it’s moving to a bigger area and a nicer area don’t razor cost offset the cost of it movie family struggle to take their families to the zoo their children to the zoo elderly people struggle to go to afford to do the Sacramento’s who is a staple here in with her move the elk Grove Natomas whatever we need to make sure it’s affordable for everyone
