I like how the ending almost feels like the guy decided to use the gained power to reincarnate into an interdimensional devil. Maybe with orange hair like he already has. Maybe one that enjoys dishes prepared with flesh. Maybe shaped after a cat passing as some middle aged guy's pet.
Anything that is drawn and voice acted by Lumpy Touch is going to always have beyond high level of quality Its a real honor that he gets to work on these projects.
@@andreas.2494 I followed him the moment when the first Garfield Gameboyd videos came out ever since. Seeing him grow from that point made me happy to see his work improve and grow.
I was a fan of Lumpy from the very start, once I had a chance to get used to it. I enjoyed the gross horrifying twisted forms of the Joy Mutants from LISA, so his stuff was right up my alley. Currently planning on doing something that has similar stuff- It's like Mouth Sweet, but with the gameplay refined, and closer ties to Killer7, its inspiration.
I feel like a cool thing that could happen is the player character changing as the game goes on, starting to morph into something else as you consume the various parts of the demons as the game progresses so you can kill other demons
I was admittedly expecting something like that when I saw the description, like [name of older game that may be a spoiler]. Hell, I almost kinda interpreted something more ghastly with that title description, like "sacrifice your own foot, crippling your run speed, for the chance to fight a demon that gives you an item with splash damage." Also could be room for some really creepy mutations too, like getting a "split shot" buff gives you more eyes or heads. Although, I guess there is some appeal in having just a very scared and dopey looking protagonist into the final fight. Maybe after the devil teleports you to his realm for the final boss you visually revert to your former self? Might be a creepy gut check.
By far one of the most anticlimactic bosses in a game. All that build up just for him to get destroyed within a few second AND without him escaping his seal.
@@camaxtle Powerful response lol But really, nothing wrong with women nowadays my friend, you just are looking in the wrong circles. Just have faith in your fellow people! :) Good luck!
I think they've got something here, but their system is all wrong. You shouldn't be sacrificing reagents for stats. You should be sacrificing stats for reagents, or other stats.
Joshua, that's an annoying mechanic and you should have your fingernails torn out for suggesting it. The game just needs to be harder. The way he nuked the final boss down was sad. It needs some serious difficulty scaling based on what you sacrifice, and then what you sacrifice in turn determines what will drop. Bones, TP, etc, common stuff you can't eat, should stay the same, but if you want a bigger monster that drops better stat ups you need to sacrifice stat ups to summon them. The bigger the monster, the more organs it has, but the harder it is to kill. So you need to balance eating smaller stat ups with sacrificing them for bigger bosses. That gives the game a degree of skill in that some hardcore MF will avoid all the little stat ups and summon just the bigger ones until they're drowning in points, while lesser mortals like the rest of us will eat the majority of the minor ones and use only a select few as summoning materials.
@@Nekufan1000000 I see your point about the item trade. But what's the problem with stat gambling? It would probably be something like pay 2 defense for an item that summons a monster that drops 4 defense worth of items. Or 4 strength, or 4 anything really. In any case paying stats would be the high risk high reward way to play, i.e. your stats are higher at the endgame using just this strategy than any other way but you're suffering harder boss fights due to your lower stats. Maybe a secret boss for those who center their run around it.
@@BIG_SHOBE oh shoot sorry then. It's just that there's actually a lot of people that think this is something related with gorefield (Seriously, there's a lot of people) And I just got a little bit confused. Sorry if that was the case
...is there a different ending if you don't eat the demon organs and manage to win regardless because it seems like the true hell would be winning with only the base stats
*Challenge list* I made a couple of interesting challenges that each player could try to do, I did them all my self too but I think anyone can do it if they try hard enough and beat the game with these! - *No Nightmares* - : Play the whole game without sleeping a single time - *I summon only on Mondays* - : Sleep at least 5 times - *Picky Eater* - : You are only allowed to consume only one of each organs and no more - *The Real Deal* - : Beat the game with 5 or more organ sacrifices - *Lumpy Touch* - : Beat the game without getting hurt by 5 or more bosses - *I aint no priest* - : Beat the game without touching any additional seals - *Lazy deFEET* - : Beat the whole game without running - *Who is the devil now?* - Beat every single Challenge
I cringed every time I watched you waste a seal... You only need to fill the guage. If seals remained, use them during the fight to keep the enemy sealed.
Clearly the best thing to do with unlimited cosmic power is to keep summoning demons for bits of themselves and open a fast food chain called "McDemons"
I tried to check this game ost. I found the osts are made by cboyardee. I googled this user. They said he is one of internet most important users who shaped 4chan (he was known at meme and anime culture at the early days of the internet before they would become mainstreamed) I tried to check him on SoundCloud. His name was Eric and i found out i already followed him and reposted many of his works 4 years ago.
Man I played this today, and its really neat. I hoped you could get something if you kill the last guy without consuming other demons, but hey, the artwork is amazing and its free.
I wonder if this is gonna get updated so the sacrifices make sense. For example, Dollar Bills would spawn the business demon, Toilet Paper would spawn the mummy, Batteries would spawn the robot, so on so forth.
I think the idea of this game is very solid. However, I feel like you're missing an opportunity if you don't do something crazy, like have the player spend stats on items, or maybe use their stats to gamble for higher stats. And obviously the current enemies are pushovers, that needs a bit of work. But all in all I do love the idea you've got here.
This is so good!!! I played through it and I gotta say I love the monster designs. Definitely recommend using the edible rewards as summon materials cause then you got one less bonus stat and get to see new monster
Wow, a good one! Great pixel-art is always a good thing! But hey, you really got me into this! I honestly had no idea that there were this many good little games. I was under the impression that this market segment had died in like 2015...
This game, as simple, as it is, actually has a lot of potential in replay value. You could input a lot of time playing multiple guns, trying to figure out what demons come from what sacrifices, what they drop, hand how to optimize your what your character eats for the best build. The only issue is, it seemed to be fairly easy to do on the first try (maybe this was recorded after multiple runs though, so idk). Another thing, it’s kind of weird that the Ancient One doesn’t come on the “0th” day. It’s hard to tell how much time you have, so I think a clock that counts in seconds wouldn’t go amiss.
looks like an interesting yet kind of....not at all fleshed out game. like there are some sloppy things like the health counter going down past zero into the minuses. the eyeball projectile the player uses doesnt come from anywhere really or at least doesnt appear to, theres no animations on the player character at all apart from walking, no animations on the demons and the projectiles they use dont look like they come from them theres no firing animation. basically it lacks polish. even the final boss bugged out heavily lol
Lack of polish is to be expected from a game jam game. Hopefully they take it further though. I'd gladly spend my money on this as a finished and balanced product
@@phoebe5 its a game jam game? oooh, well nobody said that haha. in that case this is pretty good for a game jam. taking it further though I think my points in the original comment of mine would stand
@David Lad I don't think you know what making a game in game jam is like. It's very difficult especially since the game isn't being worked on by a large studio, but rather a single person who requires food sleep and think time. Making a game is difficult enough, but in the jam you have to make a game usually centered around a theme, which usually takes a long amount of time, and the game has to be simple and understandable, and yet interesting and unique in some shape or form. Usually a week is given, and for some, that's not enough at all. Give the guy some credit, he deserves it.
I would be scared that that guy got the "unimaginable power" He's a ginger, all you have to do is like, leave him out in the sun for a little while and you basically win
The only thing this game misses for me is shooting different directions while running like in Enter the Gungeon or Binding of Isaac. Other than that, great concept and btw I laughed at the face the main protagonist makes when damaged.
if he ever decides to make this a full on game he should make it so that whatever you sacrifice spawns something related to it. eg using a bone might summon a skeletal demon
