Wonderful childhood memories😊. Another feely sad song Sad😭Eyes Like “Seasons In The Sun”😢lol 79/80. A blast from the past. 12 yrs old n innocent slow dances with my bestie(💙10) in his kitchen on a small record player 45’s, not really knowing what the songs meant. Except they were slow n hugged eachother going round n round in his kitchen. The Best Days Eva❣️Then we went out n played marbles n ate pizza. He moved to another state w/his mom n never saw eachother again🥴Funny how folks come in/out of your life n ya just keep on Keeping On👍. Never phazed us cuz we were kids. We didn’t have sappy love feelings like young adults w/sad songs. Just a cute memory👍
+BerlinFan82 I love the Lead Guitar Solo ♫♬ near the end of the song. It's so emotional, sad ☹ & it pulls you in... It would be great to see Robert John perform with a backing Band & that fantastic female background vocalist. ☻
I was 16 when this song came out in 1979( dad was stationed in Maryland, A.P.G) I wrote down the words to it in my notebook, it touched me so much then, it still does now. Can't believe it's 43 years ago. I still love his music 🎶🎼 ♥️ Much Love to everyone from Augusta Georgia ♥️🇺🇸
me and my son used to sing this song when he was about 12 about 1980 and his voice was changing, everytime it came on the radio. I lost him 8 years ago and it gives me great joy to hear this song.
soo sorry for your loss. I'm sure he's smiling down from heaven with much Love for you. This was a great song to all of us I think. just really good music. Take care my friend.
Holy SHIT I've had this song stuck in my head off and on for 20 years and I *finally* can put a name to it courtesy of getting bored and clicking 70's links.
pythoncase yes im hearing ya mate, lots of the good singers are slowly going , David bowie Michael Jackson Prince George Michael I could go on but now we are left with Justin beiber, one erection Need i go on.
Reminds me of Bob Goldthwait, gripping about ‘70’s music, wouldn’t it be great if KC & the Sunshine band got back together in his 1988 live stage performance.
This is the extended play version, from the 33 RPM album "Robert John." This version is different from the 45 RPM version, which is the version that was most commonly heard on the radio, way back in the spring and summer of 1979. This is a wonderful tune and I remember it very, very well. It took real talent to perform/record a song like this. So very different from the drek of today. Hearing "Sad Eyes" again brings back many, many memories. Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
This hits home for me with the loss of my son I’m heart broken my best friend just lost her husband 3 weeks later we are heartbroken together! 😥😭 broken-hearted 💔
Classic 1970s, composed and arranged by the singer himself, the slow and powerful rhythm emulates the northern British sounds, but Robert John turns out to be pure Brooklyn and he took this to No 1 in 1979. The support dancers are a bonus especially as on reflection they would all be well into their 60s by now. A slight change of tack here as there are so many top music pieces worthy of saving and Fleetwood Mac is current top of the list, however this is so typical of the '70s era as it needed to be saved early, and on reflection, the comments below are all priceless. Every one has their sad moments, Maidstone Railway Station hits a chord from long ago, but the world has turned many times and the occupants come and go, but this music remains eternal and these days very thankfully so.
I remember this song 🎵 it was my husband's favorite song. I think he was trying to tell me something about the song. This song hits home for me because my husband left me in 2001. The song will always mean a lot to me. R I P Honey. 😢😢😭😭
🤔That voice + that guy = surprised 😳 Talent is everything!! I think his voice is higher that Gibb. Wow. Of course I was a kid when this song came out but I used to hear my parents playing it. They loved music.

Never understood how a song that's about a guy doing one chick until his old lady gets back in town and then telling her not to cry about it became such a big hit.
I remember hearing this song back in the day when my Mom would listen to the Paul Harvey show in Komo AM 1000 (from the ages of 4 to 13 years old) usually it ran at 12pm daily, but this was a classic. I was born in 1980, but absolutely love 70's tunes.
