I am a chinese and went to Laos 4 times on vocation. Truly sorry about us being rude to people in other countries. Literally when i was walking kn the street in Laos and my rude people (chinese) walking past me I frowned and was like “f…k off you cheeky bastards”. China, for the past decades, has been making efforts to building a stronger economy, and at the same time overlooked the moral education. People are so misguided by the government that they take for granted the morality certainly comes secondary to making MONEY.

Thanks Todd for taking us along with you again. Sad news indeed about the old lady dying and the daughter going off with a Chinese driver. I wonder if he paid the mother for her. Those trucks are huge, so it is no wonder that the roads are being churned up the way that they are. Mina's command of the English language is amazing. She is such a bright little girl. Todd, I was able to visit Laos two weeks ago and I have to agree with you on Chinese people. They are so rude and they get away with it. We had a group of Chinese just smoking in the hotel lobby. Now there are good Chinese people then there are the ones that don’t have manners, we had breakfast one morning, there’s this older women trying to cut to the front. The younger Chinese lady behind me tells me no, don’t let her do that.

I was an expat in Singapore, have seen many horrible behaviors from Australian tourists treating local Singaporean like they were a subclass being. One time, I was at Bali for a conference and afterward decided to relax at the beach under the tiki hut, enjoying the ocean. However, 2 Australian couple came by and asked me if I can move to another spot since I was only one person and they prefer my spot as the tiki hut at my spot had better shade coverage for 2. I declined. And the Australian couple proceeded to call the resort service manager, the poor manager keep telling them tiki hut is first come first serve, But there is another area, with bigger tiki hut, but there will be service charge. They 2 couple just went off shouting at the manager how Indonesian just don't under what 'service and customer' mean. The rude Australians eventually left and out of curiosity I talked to the manager as why did they not just comp the Australians the 'service-charge' area, manager told me, that the 2 Australians did the same thing to another couple yesterday. Despicable Australians.

It must come from the desperate conditions they lived through during the Mao era when there were so many famines that killed millions of Chinese people, si they feel like they have to push their way through the crowds all the time or they will starve. Good video Todd, thanks for posting. Sadly that kind of extremely rude behaviour is more and more common all over the world, and it's not just the Chinese, though they do see to be the most blatant. Some other nationalities are just as bad but in more subtle (sly) ways. Travel safely, and again thanks for sharing.

That was really sad about the three women. I hope this youngest did not wind up in the Special Economic Zone in Laos at the Triangle. You are correct about the Chinese Todd. I won't elaborate

Dont give any rude person your business. Could be any ethnicity. Have ran into many rude people in my life. I just ignore them and move on. If they dont want my business, I can go spend my money elsewhere. Lots of options to be stuck somewhere.

Lao is not cheap anymore, inflation is out of control and the Chinese are adding to the inflation as well as not trying to make the Chinese currency replace the Kip, try using kip in the Chinese zone in northern Lao, they won't accept it

Other than the small number of Chinese trucks that are coming as part of the GMS CBTA (Thai trucks will be crossing to China effective September 1) you won't be seeing many. Most goods will come by rail.

Had a physician friend who became so exited when China opened up for travel and was one of the first ones to take advantage of that. Sooo Excited! However, coming back he sang a different tune. The country was interesting, but found the Chinese to be the rudest people on Earth. I see that nothing changes when they live in other nearby countries!

This is one of the Chinese traditions. Most Chinese were taught at a young age to polite to the people they known. They were taught not to engage with strangers. This is to protect their privacy and avoid danger encounter. When they open up, they feel like they are naked and bad things are awaited to be happened. Just because you are ready to social and open, people don't know you need to welcome you into their life. Putting a smile on the face, does not mean it is safe behind closed door.

Pass this on, in America we tax trucks heavily to pay for the damage on the roads. Looks like Lao needs to implement the tax there to fix those horrible roads 🎉 Have your wife go to the Lao government and raise some hell 😂😂😂❤

Last year in my trip to Luang Prabang I was incenced by the Chinese tourists taking pictures of the monks in their morning walk with their camaras and mobile phones right on the monks faces. That highspeed train white elephant was expensive in more ways than one.
