The ceremony was beautiful, enchanting and a statement of brotherhood, peace and love between two nations and two countries. This is a small, but a giant step with phenomenal consequences for the generations to come. May God bless this momentous occasion and grant strength, foresight and wisdom to the leaders of both sides not to meddle the politics with the religion. AMEN

There is nothing like peace and compromise. Governments and Media of both countries must play their positive role to improve the relations of both countries . It is a time of globalisation and sources of communications has tuned the people of the world like the members of one family. Both countries should spend their all sources to improve the economy and life standard of their citizens instead to burn their sources uselessly in destructive objects. The example of European countries is before them to follow as these countries made quick progress after making agreements of peace with one another. The people of Pakistan and India should realise that there is nothing like peace and compromise. It is a common experience that calamities which cannot be averted by ordinary measures, and the difficulties which seem insurmountable, very often respond to the power of unanimity. Hence it would be against the dictates of wisdom for one to not benefit from the blessings of unanimity. With the Grace of God Almighty, the people of India and Pakistan have also got a measure of education; it behoves them now to eschew grudge and promote mutual love. Similarly, the dictates of their wisdom require that they abandon the course of callousness and adopt an attitude of compassion and sympathy. The hardship of this life is like unto a journey in a desert in the midst of summer on a hot sunny day. It would be futile to take this arduous journey without cool water. It is the cool water of mutual love which they so direly need to extinguish this burning fire and to save them from dying of thirst. If someone questions the possibility of reaching reconciliation while political or religious differences are playing a negative role, throwing hearts further apart, then the answer would be to say that difference can only play a negative role when it disregards the dictates of justice, wisdom and the well-tested human values. It is to avoid this danger that man has been fully fortified with a clear sense of judgement and common sense. He should thus always carve a path for himself which never deviates from the path of justice and good sense. Again it should not violate the commonly experienced human sensibilities. Also it should be remembered that day to day petty differences cannot obstruct the course of reconciliation.

India should have never been divided in 1947. But, if this was the last resort, then either: 1) Sikh leaders should have decided to stay in Pakistan because that is where not only most of their religious and spiritual landmarks are located but Sikhs also have closer cultural ties with Muslim Punjabis (who constitute the majority of Pakistanis); or 2) Sikh holy sites such as Kartarpur should have been kept on the Indian side of the border for the convenience of Sikh community. What is remarkable is that the word "Pakistan" is the Persian-equivalent of the Punjabi word "Khalistan"!! It is, in part, called Pakistan because it is dotted with numerous Sikh holy (or pak!) sites. Jinnah should have branded Pakistan as a homeland for both Muslims and Sikhs. But, if history is any guide, then we are told that pre-1947, Sikhs were economically so powerful that most Muslims felt victimized by Sikhs. So, there was a lot of mistrust between the two communities. Waheguruji da khaalsa! Waheguruji di fateh! Vande mahataram! Jai Ramji ki! Allahu akbar!
