The Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Elias Magosi met Zimbabwean President Emerson Mnangagwa in Harare. Zimbabwe is expected to take over chairmanship of the regional block in August this year and Magosi revealed part of his visit was to check Zimbabwe's state of readiness to host the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit. The two leaders spoke on the ongoing El Nino induced drought and the recently launched 5 billion US dollar humanitarian appeal by the block. He further said the drought is a wakeup call for the region and called on all members to collectively put in place sustainable measures to curb effects of climate change.
