Interesting place, house looks to be from early 1900's but could have been built over something older . Loved that barn/workshop ! Ever look in the woods around for old bottle dumps ? That can usually tell the property's age. I did that back in the late 70's and found some older dumps around newer places. (Well newer, back then was like 1900-1920) I've got like 3,000 bottles in my collection from 1700's to late 1800's . Sadly , most of the older places these days are being destroyed and buried to make way for subdivision and such ! Glad your are grabbing a bit of history in your videos ! I just love your finds !
Hello, John! Thanks a lot! Yes, i remember you had mentioned earlier about old bottles searching. Now I'm trying to find some, but no luck yet. This house got deserted relatively recently, in 2005. One pretty lady saw pics of the house i posted in my FB group and told me that they used to live there. Therefore, not sure if there may be found really old bottles. Although, who knows?
I know . Those old dumps are hard to find but they ARE there ! I guess I just had a good knack of finding them . I would ask owners of old houses if I could dig in their woods and they would say "sure, but there has already people been here doing that before" ! And sure enough they missed the best buried ones !
Honestly, i have no idea how old bottles can be found in ground? For example, we can use metal detector to unearth old cutlery or tools. But searching glass pieces baffles me. Need to research this questions.
@@walkingcam1if there are woods lines nearby that is usually where they are found No trash collections back in those days especially in rural places. Look for sticker bushes or small scrubby trees and peek in there . Usually things pop up to the surface and you can catch glimpses of old tin cans or glass shards . Just use a little hand held three prong cultivator and scratch around . Usually ( for some reason there is a kind of licorice smell) watch out for yellow jacket nests though ! They seem to love to live in those old dumping grounds !
Hm, that's really curious. I never thought how people dumped trash in the past. You mean, there should be just a pit in the ground to collect all wastes? I know a location in Pine Barrens where a hotel used to be. Nearby Batsto village. No remains left, but may be it worth to carefully examine ground around the spot?
So glad you shared this once upon a time farm/home Darina. The small stuffed teddy bear was so sad.😪 I hope the family spent a good life there together before moving on.
Hello, Tom!) They found me on FB when i shared pics of this house. I see they lived in a cool place. I always liked village houses. My childhood was spent in a similar house, although it was much smaller)
Hi Francis! Thank you) Yes, the floor looked sketchy, but, probably, i missed a space under it. They should be first floor, which i didn't see. Don't know, maybe worth to come back one more time.
I knew you'd be out and about hail, rain, snow, tornadoes can't keep my hero out of the woods!Love the photo's of the little lost house. How awesome it would be uf we were allowed to adopt an abandoned house!!or "foster" a factory with secret tunnels!
One nice lady, who used to live in this house with her family, appeared a subscriber in my group on FB. She emailed me a few photos what this house looked like decades ago. I'm thinking now how to present them. Maybe will make a short video, don't know yet))
That sounds grand.A sort of then and now? I love to see structures as they once were as well as the stages.up til bones of buildings are tangled with nature.I think that's what you capture, the timelessness of abandoned places. Some seem to be waiting for you to preserve them b4 they're gone from sightI love your idea about the house🏠
Oh! Casey! Haven't heard from for a while. Hope you're ok!) Any new finds? This place i found on google maps a week ago and decided not to postpone visiting. Just scanned maps, looking something suspicious in fields and copses. That day i drove a huge loop thru central Pennsylvania. Filmed a couple more of curious spots.
@@walkingcam1 I sincerely can't wait to see!! I unfortunately haven't found anything recently. More focused on my trip to Assateague in 3 weeks!!! I WILL be looking for cool places down there! I did visit an abandoned lighthouse in Lewes DE two years ago and I want to find more places in that area like that!
