I wish I would have tried the saddle hunting long ago. I use the Hawk Sticks as well but only take 3 in with one step aider on them. Gets me 16ft 18 if I stretch the step in between. I also went with ropeman 1 on the tether and left my pursic loop. However mine is above I use it to temporarily hang my pack until I get all the gear out. I then use it the rest of the hunt has a handle per say to assist when going from sit position to lean. Good stuff guys. Keep SHARING your PASSION

The Ropeman 1 is rated for 10 to 13mm rope. You are asking to die or get hurt by using it on smaller rope.

I just bought the phantom elite, this will be my first year hunting from a saddle, I've practiced with it several times in the yard and it has surprised me on comfort and convenience

After I got my saddle and had a few hunts in I ended up using my saddle on tree's next to my lock on stands, that is how much i loved it lol

I use a saddle in some situations (tethrd mantis), but feel my Lone Wolf climber has been a better option (most of the time). Too much movement in a saddle, got picked off too often at the worse times. Still think it's very cool & great light weight option.

Great feedback! We have had different experiences but interesting to hear that.

Thx for review. We'll done. I have tried it several times. Being lw hang on guy...way better and less gear to carry in especially if u don't film. One thing to remember...when tethering in...one is none 2 is 1. Saw that from former army ops guy...safety first. Good luck!

Saw a huge mistake right in the beginning of your video. NEVER EVER step on the platform with only your lines-mans belt. ALWAYS be clipped into your tether besides the lines man belt BEFORE stepping onto the platform
@zacchurch502

Nice video. You all have a bit heavier system that I use. But I keep my prusik knot above my rope man and snug it up against the girth hitch around the tree to keep the tension on it so it won’t slack. You can still hang stuff off of it and it keeps it closer to the tree. Just a tip if it works for you too.

Nice video guys!! I'm making the switch to saddle hunting this season. From the very first practice climb, I could tell this is the way to go. Might never use my hang-on stand again!! Also, I'm using the Hawk Mini sticks and they are great. Not that heavy and small enough that I can get through the thick brush of Pennsylvania!! Good luck this season!!

for my ladder I use 3 wild edge steps with 3 of the 2 step amisteel 18” aider.. I can get 15’ with about 3 pounds of steps, I got the predator platform and everything fits in my bag and from my pack to my saddle and bow I’m in the woods for under 15 lbs and hunting mostly Public is a big deal

The Rope Man 1 is not rated for 8mm rope. Be careful promoting it's use outside of the recommended rope diameter.
@WhisperingWild
@WhisperingWild Год назад
Definitely not promoting use outside recommended specs. Just stating how I currently am using the rope man. We have done some pretty intense testing with that system and feel safe using it. However, if you are trying to use that for yourself you must conduct your own testing. Thanks!

I’ve been wanting to get into saddle hunting but the prices are outrageous on pieces of fabric that doesn’t cost near as much to make company’s just wanna make money i would love to get into it but the price is what’s stopping me as of now
@WhisperingWild
@WhisperingWild 2 года назад
I can see where you are coming from however, it’s about the same price or cheaper than some expensive treestand brands so its all about perspective.

I agree, but you spend it once, if you get what you want and need. I bought a used very new saddle off of Facebook, half price. A lot of guys like moving to the next best thing, so you can get a good deal sometimes.

First year saddle hunter myself. Agreed they are expensive. But I need to be able to 100% trust its made in the USA quality and craftsmanship. Willing to pay for that.

Looks like a pretty nice setup! What packs do y’all use for carrying all your gear? I also feel like filming would be so much harder from a saddle but I could be wrong. What is y’all’s camera of choice? Just a thought, but a camera setup video would be very informational to see!

And I still use my loggy bayou climber 🤣 but hey it's the lightest climber ever made coming in at only 8lbs

What are your thoughts on one of the newer lighter hang ons? You’d actually save a couple of pounds vs your saddle setup now with a LWCG .5. Yeah it’s a $500 stand but saddle hunting isn’t cheap either.

I think you should do whatever your most comfortable with. If you like treestand hunting then go with that option!

I hear it's safer but I see more opportunities for human errors with all the fasten and refastend of sticks platform and saddle also it seems slow I've watched lots of video for me personally I like my hang on because I have 3 with 3sets of sticks I set up in different areas and leave until the season is over or I find more promising spots. I can quietly and quickly get in them. My portable set up is my Summit Elite Aluminum it's only 10 lbs I can fasten to tree in 2 to 3 minutes tops and I sit down stand up climb honestly 10 minutes I'm already settled in and hunting. If I hunted large wilderness might be worth a look but I run a 600 acre club and have for 20 years I know it like my backyard. This also seems like you'd be moving more and I'd hate to try and piss in a bottle with that thing on lol Murphys law tells me some bow hunter will cut his tether with a broadhead one day nah I'll pass

First season coming up with the saddle, I get picked off a lot in the tree climber, any advice on how not to get picked off in the saddle? I hope it’s a good season for all.
@WhisperingWild
@WhisperingWild Год назад
Big difference right off the bat is with a climber your just facing the deer when they come in with the saddle you will be behind the tree which for us has been a game changer. Climbers are limited on straight trees with no cover so really focus on getting into trees with branches or lots of thick backdrop cover so your not skylined
@reddawng43x91

Bro if u get picked off in a climber u will get picked off in a saddle 10 fold
@HooligansMx

The price is insane tho literally for what your getting they are definitely price gouging out of greed which is typical for most companies that make hunting gear like you said to another guy it's all about perspective which I understand that but you also have to look at what your getting sure it's nice and light etc but look how much more goes into making really nice treestands and your paying more than that for some rope and fabric which is just absurd. Over $600 for the phantom system and that does NOT include any climbing sticks which is just greed pure greed plain and simple if the total cost included climbing sticks THEN I could stand behind tethered but as of now I gotta say they are some greedy bastards
@thehunterspushstixs7940

I have seen few Tree stand Co. stand the test of time. My guess, the margins are thinner that what you might think. They are not selling in mass quantities, USA made, by the time you add in distribution cost...PLUS insurance (that alone has be HUGE)...not a lot of meat left on that bone. Price gouging typically is in reference to things you have to have, gas, electric, utilities etc...something with little to no competition. I see a lot of competition in this market place. PLUS...you do not have to buy one. Find a log, grab a trash bag to sit on (did that for years) and have it....

I wouldn’t think so, the biggest question would be how your going to hunt. Are you hanging climbing sticks every time u go hunting or do u have them setup and all u will have to do is climb up the tree?

I am completely astonished at the amount of people making videos about "saddle hunting" while almost all are putting complete trust in a single tether. This is foolish to not have or promote redundancy.
@taylorcheramie6753

There has never been a single record incident of a tether failing since saddle hunting started.

I might have to try a different saddle, but find it exhausting. Hurt my hips, could only do for about an hour before legs or hips were hurting. Try and kinda sit and your hugging an ice cold tree.
@WhisperingWild
@WhisperingWild Год назад
I think you might be doing something wrong. Maybe open your bridge up wider so it doesn’t squeeze your hips as much.
