I've got the same thing but need more comfort for long sits. My knees eventually give out with the thinner Sitka pads included with their Mountain pair of pants. I wish this video would have been available to me last year.
Great video Greg. I'm still debating which way to go. Keep us posted on the pad. I think the knee over your clothing you ran might be my next go to solution though. I experimented with what looks like the same thickness as you have there but it still wasn't as comfortable as I wanted.
Good idea on ziptie on the bungie. I've been using a camera strap and going around the tree. This looks easier. I've been wanting to come up with some kind of rigid material that I could form to curve into the tree and then curve back the opposite way to accept my knees, then cover the knee part with foam. I find myself having to keep my muscles flexed too much to keep my knees from sliding off the left and right side of the tree when saddle hunting and trying to just relax and be able to doze off.
Any issues with the bungee popping off the tree? Seems like sharpening the hooks would improve function. I do like the idea of not having to reach a strap around the tree, especially on larger trees. Thanks for sharing.
The link you provide for the knee pads does not seem to be the ones you describe in the video. Are the others not available or have you changed your opinion?
Hey Greg, thanks for all you’ve done for the saddle hunters and hunting population in general. Can you do a video on how and where to set up a camera arm associated with the utilization of saddles? I haven’t found one by you and would LOVE to see a detailed one...I’m sure I’m not alone...thanks brother! Keep on keepin on!
Hi Greg, I've been enjoying your videos, the saddle vs tree stand bits are hilarious! Knee pressure is my biggest concern in switching to a saddle. I had considered a hunting pad but I think a combo of both knee and tree pads would help my high millage joints the best. Thanks for the tip. Also, I do alot of cold weather hunting, 30° and colder. Does wearing winter cover-all's change the comfort or size settings of a saddle set-up? Thanks for all you do an peace from Nor Mn.
